True, i went for my regular maintenance of my BMW to one of the workshops behind BMW road (Sree BMW shop). I brought the car for maintenance and every time a part needed to be replaced they sent their guy on a bicycle to go and source the parts in the same street I've spent quite some long hours already there sipping chai.....

I use the "Dubai Now" app that is basically gathering all Dubai apps. Select the category "driving" and you can recharge and top-up your account in a matter of seconds. Payment goes via my credit card or Apple Pay.

Add to that the wind-tunnel performance and strict safety regulations that basically puts these companies in a very tight box.

Apart from the known stuff like deflators, gauges, etc.. what do you have in your toolbox that has either saved your buttocks a few times, or you deem as an essential tool of equipment while going off-road ? I'll start with mine: * Adjustable spanners and some basic wrenches up to size 13. * Basic screwdriver set (Philips and flatheads). * Multimeter/tester. * Some hose clamps for compressor hoses. * Tie-wraps * Electrical Tape * Set of fuses (5,10,20,30 Amps) * Pieces of nylon rope to tie something down temporarily. * Headlight / Torch. * Allen key set. * Some speaker wire for doing small repairs when necessary. * Spare set of stem valves.

Coming back on this issue @desertdude you are right. After installing an additional, digital temp gauge, i can now see that the factory temp gauge does not budge between 65 and 110 degrees Celsius. So if something was indeed wrong with engine overheating i would have only known it when it’s almost too late. Although The OEM sensor was replaced and I read the same issues with gen2 Pajero on other forums. I’ll be keeping a close eye to the digital one on the next off-road drives. During normal highway it sits stable at 80 degrees so that looks ok.

Hi Sunit, welcome to the forum and congrats with your Pajero ! Regarding your queries: 1) Yes, Mobil1 is a really good brand, @Gaurav his car runs on it. Not sure where you can buy it here in UAE. I have asked the same question to quite a few workshops and they all seem to have their own preference based on what they have available and the type of car. Have a look at the attached SAE grade range. 2) I bought Geolandar 265/70/16 about 6 months back and paid closer to 2000 i think, ill check my invoices and update you. I don't have the impression my tyres are fake but how to define this is the million dollar question. What matters is the fabrication date stamped on the tyres. Some shops try to get rid of their older batches of tyres at lower prices. 3) Have a look at the attached Pajero maintenance schedule. 4) I am not sure what the Habtoor guys do in every minor or major schedule. This might depend on the car history. If you just bought it and don't have enough reliable service information on what was done before, i would recommend bringing it do a decent workshop and going for a 25,000 service to remove any doubts you might have and let them inspect all belts while they are at it.

Good topic. * I do a complete clean after every drive and hose down the chassis of the car. The amount of sand that gets stuck in all these nooks and crannies is unbelievable, and after time it hardens up and becomes even more difficult to remove. * Check all fluids as @Gaurav mentioned rightly. * Definitely bring the tyres back to road pressure condition (34psi works best for me). Also inspect the tyres for unusual wear or tear. * Clean the engine bay (not hosing down, but with a rag and some soft soap) and inspect for leaks or loose fittings, hoses.
