@Sunil Mathew@Andrei S@Gary F@Zulfikhar Naiyar@Krishna R@Benjamin@Gok Krish@Waqas Parvez@Zed I think we had a good run last night ! The weather was pleasant and we got some minor challenges that were dealt with with a smile ! Brilliant driving by all of you. The terrain definitely wasn’t the easiest with lots of tricky narrow spots, descents, and some super soft areas. See you all soon again !

RSVP is now closed Good morning guys ! @Sunil Mathew@Andrei S@Gary F@Zulfikhar Naiyar@Krishna R@Benjamin@Gok Krish@ASAD.@Waqas Parvez@Zed With the meteors flying over our heads, i hope we can get a well-paced drive with lots of tight spots and challenges. This terrain is a mix of technical dunes with mid-sized ones and not often visited by other off-roaders. As always, teamwork will be essential and communication will be key while driving in the dark. We will be using Channel 2 - 446.031 Mhz See you guys tonight !

Offroad advice/experience on mountain trails
Frederic replied to Deno Vikram's topic in Mitsubishi Pajero Forum in UAE
Hey @Deno Vikram ! Welcome to Carnity ! The difference between 4H and 4Hlc is simple: - In 4H the power ratio between front and back will be around 30/70, and the viscous coupling in your transfer case will make this variable based on the torque needed. 4H is the most common used setting for offroading with your Pajero. - In 4Hlc the power ratio becomes 50/50 and instead of the viscous coupling this becomes a fixed ratio. You mentioned you have completed some mountain trails. Be aware in this summer this will mean your engine will run very hot, because the main issue is the fact you are driving really slowly so there is hardly any ram-air effect pushing fresh air through the radiator, and the fan itself has to do all the work. On steep trails, definitely move to using 4L (low gearing) which will allow you to get good torque and steady climbing ability. You mention your warning sign lit up: was it the engine high temperature or transmission high temperature ? While doing steep climbs the automatic gearbox will be hunting a lot (up and downshifting) which results in overheating transmission. This can be avoided by using your tiptronic (manually selecting 1st or 2nd gear). That way the transmission will stay in the same gear while you are climbing. Some info below: -

Hey @Vishnu Ramankutty You’ve brought up a good topic here, and my reply below is based on other new model fortuners I’ve seen performing in the desert. The NO1 weak point on these cars is the massive front bumper, similar to the Montero Sport. And it will be the first part that receives damage eventually. Adding a front bash plate underneath the stock bumper will help but won’t give you a permanent solution. That brings us to the following options: 1) Replacing the front bumper with different design bumper. This is a possibility but not cheap. 2) Lift kit. Will give you a bit more extra clearance which will help saving the stock bumper. You can combine this with a bash plate. 3) Trimming stock bumper. Is possible on the Montero Sport, see @Abhilash Kottakkalhis mod. Not sure if same works on your car. I would advise you to approach a couple of shops (can’t name them here but you can ask other off-roaders on your drive) and check with them what your options are.

Thank you all for joining @Deepak Eswar@Shiju Raju@Srilakshman Karthikeyan@Issam Atra@Vishnu Ramankutty@DP1011@Abhilash Kottakkal@Faraz94@Shiboo Kr@Haneef Thayyil@DTG@Ben Williams@Anish S @Imteeaz and flying sweep @Hisham Masaad ! We had a great morning, and the weather was actually quite doable (better than expected). I focused a bit more on the technical driving this time as in my opinion this is crucial in becoming a good all-round off-roader. Apart from the few refusals and couple of stucks which are totally normal, we covered good ground and various terrain. We practiced lots of straight crests, tight corners, and some basic side sloping. You guys did great ! I was delighted with the great support of @Imteeaz, @DP1011, @Anish S,and @Hisham Masaadwhich makes these kinds of drives really enjoyable and whatever challenge we faced, was quickly sorted with a smile. My initial plan was to drive towards Murquab, but considering the timing and the various areas that were scattered with bushes, i decided against it and looped back towards the Love Lakes entry track, where we exited. See you guys soon in the sand again !
