I've done Musandam somewhere in 2018 with Arabic speaking friends. We drove to Khasab port and took our camping gear with us and approached one of the fishermen. He took us to one of the beaches, around here somewhere: https://goo.gl/maps/JfKFSFp9bBhxjEtNA dropped us off, and came to pick us up a 9AM the next morning. We camped at the beach and for the first time ever i saw the phytoplankton in the ocean. It was unforgettable ! I was not able to take a photo but it looked like this:

A few notes to make things go a bit smoother: 1. When you arrive at the meeting point, park the cars a bit orderly next to each other. There is ample space but this area can be quite busy with farmer pickup trucks and camels on their way to the race track. Start deflating to 14psi if you have Highway HT tyres, or 12psi if you have All Terrain AT tyres. 2. Please be on time. In our club this usually means arriving 10-15 mins earlier than the mentioned meetup-time so you can deflate your tyres and get the flag installed. That way, by 7AM we would be ready to do the briefing. It might be a bit chilly so bring a sweater or jacket. 3. This drive is perfect to bring family or friends as passengers. We will be driving through the dunes, but we will also make use of existing farm tracks so we have time to relax and they can take some photos of the scenic terrain. We will take at least 2 breaks as well. 4. This drive is not a dune-bashing style drive. I have mentioned this clearly on the drive topic. 5. We will be exiting in Falaj Al Mualla, which is a quiet little town. Have a look around and perhaps try one of the little restaurants in the area. 6. The last petrol station is located here: https://goo.gl/maps/jL1UvZakWRjMDpZB9 We will be using Radio Channel 2: 446.03125 Mhz Please make sure to bring your programmed radio. As this is your first drive, please go through our Absolute Newbie Briefing Video: (The COVID restrictions are lifted) For your first drive you will only need to bring a deflator and a tyre compressor. It was a fantastic opportunity for all of us to refresh and reflect, as many of the recoveries we execute are a result of what we've tried and by learning from others. @Gauravhas been a mentor to all of us, and has taught us not just become an offroader with good drive skills, but much more to find the satisfaction in becoming a complete offroader in any way, from recovering yourself, to leading and guiding others in this magnificent hobby and passion that brings us all together. I thank him with all my heart for being able to bring out the best in all of us. The entire team was looking forward to this experience, and everyone came up with very valuable suggestions and questions. For me, as i am usually the one trying to navigate in the best possible way to AVOID getting my convoy stuck, i had to alter my driving style a little bit and it was great fun crawling through the Lisaili dunes and even in the dark you guys drove superbly. The snacks @Waqas [email protected] came indeed welcome to boost our energy levels after all this hard work 😁 Thanks guys ! See you all soon in the sands again !

Hi @MikeSpillane i disagree that the grading structure is something to "lock" people in. It is meant for your own safety and to make sure that everyone enjoys a safe offroading progress in Carnity. I do agree that we could have used an extra Newbie level drive for this weekend. The season has really kicked off now. Unfortunately, the flu season also kicked in, and this situation where both marshals fall ill is rare but has happened today. We still have a great offroading season ahead with many plans and great drives that are coming. Let's wish @Hisham Masaadand @Ale Vallecchi both the best and a speedy recovery and not vent negative frustrations on unavoidable events.

Sit back, relax, and bring your snacks, BBQ, drinks, and share your stories and experiences of the past year with us. Feel free to bring your friends, families and kids with their age-specific toys or games to enjoy brilliant outdoor activities. Please bring your own: Food / Grill / Cooking and serving arrangements Drinks and Ice (of course). Chairs / Mats / Camping Gear if you want to camp overnight. Action Plan: At 7:30 PM we will have Carnity Seniors to meet and greet you at the meeting point next to the DEWA station. Please engage 4x4 before entering the dirt track. At 8 PM SHARP they will leave this meeting point and bring everyone inside the desert. The celebration location is only 5mins driving from the meeting point. Fantastic drive report @JeromeFJ ! I was looking for the right words to describe the terrain this morning but you brought me right back into the sand with your report ! No doubt you guys had fun and hats off for your leadership and skillset!!

DRIVE REPORT Let's have our cake and eat it !! Driving all the way to Abu Dhabi to go and have a look at a dirty old yellow truck ? Of course !! We were blessed with a Newbie convoy that drove marvelously. My plan was to reach the Yellow truck around noon or shortly after, which would give us ample time for a lunch break. To my own surprise we hit the spot even before 11AM, thanks to the way you guys navigated and pushed your vehicles through the terrain like champs ! I kept the first part of this drive easy as we wanted to check off the visit to Yellow Truck first and get that out of the way. After lunch break and meeting up with the Fewbie Plus convoy, we headed further south which meant we had lots of steep crossings to make. Apart from a few stucks and refusals we kept pushing along and reached the exit track around 4PM. @Fabien Monleau your second lead was brilliant. You kept good distance which gave you the opportunity to fine-tune my track so the convoy could pass through easily. The successes we booked yesterday are the result of that ! Thank you ! I hope your family had a splendid weekend ! @rohit kumar I must admit I had some apprehensions as we hadn't seen you around in the club often, and you brought a mighty big ship to the drive (but a real powerful ship). You drove very well throughout the day and I hope to see your Raptor soon coming winter on our drives ! Well done ! @Nicholas Cox1 and the family, I hope you guys liked this day out ! Your Dodge roared through the massive dunes and you drove very well yesterday ! PS please tell your wife to bring that Pink Pajero to the next drive ! The comfy but super capable Landcruiser was definitely at home in Liwa ! @Benjamin and @Gary F you both bring such a great spirit to our drives ! Fantastic driven buddy !! @premindra rajaram we drove a few times together already and i was glad you got your introduction to another kind of terrain. You drove great ! Trust me, the big slopes do look intimidating, but you kept your cool and navigated them super precise ! Hope your wife liked the day out too ! Never shy of a joke, we had our resident clown @imranaasghar81 in our convoy today to keep the spirits up and be the Raptor Rescuer. It was great seeing you again and I hope your son enjoyed it too ! @Dodi Syahdar was two weeks in a row my superb sweep. Always ready to help and radiating calmness.
