Thought came to my mind as I was passing the place yesterday. Try JOY scrapyards in Dhaid he's got three there plus a workshop and does all sorts of mods on Patrols and Cruisers for the local dhabab. And saw rows and rows of Patrols in his scrap yards. He can probably find and fit you a electric OEM patrol seat. Dhaid, first round about right xoming from Shj towards madam his workshop in on the right and scrapyards on on thr left further down.

Go talk to Joy himself he can most probably hook you up.

Hi @desertdude, thank you for sharing this, mate. I will check with out for sure and share the feedback.

  2. 1. @Srikumar & @GauravThank you, I just realized how a past issue I faced could have contributed to this. I never knew, You guys seem to have nailed it. 🧐. I did have an engine mounting issue in the past, before I joined carnity, and it did take a long time to diagnose! I remember, when the problem was identified and was being fixed, the old mounting fell with the rubber dampers almost nonexistent! I guess the damage to the air pipe was well into play by then, but me being me simply didn’t know 😂.

    2. @Gaurav My apologies, I’m still catching up on the lingo 😂. You are right, the mechanic did use a larger tape for fixing the tear- approx 1 inch wide, it was topped with an additional insulation tape of the usual type. #mebeingme 😂

    3. @Gaurav if anybody were to ask me- what was the greatest learning of the drive, I should say, here’s where I found the guidance & courage to try and use the tiptronic shift (2nd half of the drive) that I was scared to use before and oh MY, it was awesome!! Thank YOU, you are a true guru!

  3. Dear Carnity Team.

Good day! Just thought I'd share a recent vehicular performance issue I faced. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this:

Vehicle: Nissan Patrol Safari Year 2005. Not a Plus 1 car, this is my regular vehicle for all commutes.

    1. My car has been in quite a good condition, During my first 2 Off road drives (Newbie) , I was able to punch through quite comfortably. I think the vehicle played a HUGE part in off-setting my inexperience- I am sure it helped me plow through a lot of dicey situations due to sheer power alone, using only the Automatic "D" gear.

    2. Post my 2nd drive, returning to On-Road, I started noticing that the car felt a little different, it was as if she took a longer time to achieve prior speeds. I thought that Off-roading had caused some sort of On-road issue, and let it be.

    3. During the latest drive (my 3rd) the car simply wasn't the same. I can't explain the feeling, it's as if she just was not up to it. ;). I wasn't able to charge up the Pink rock on both routes,  I did all the FLOORING of the accelerator that I could but she simply wouldn't budge.

4.. Luckily, I just got my vehicle serviced today, and the mechanic was able to identify a certain tear in the intake pipe. His actual words were: "Raizing mein problem aata hain kya?" :😂. (Do you have any issues during full throttling?) As per him this could have contributed to the performance issue during the recent Off-road trip. PFA ref Image.

    5. A new Intake Pipe costs AED 375 (Shops near Al Suwaidi Garages in Ras Al Khor), I've decided hunt for a used spare later, hence the pipe's torn section has been taped with insulation tape for the time being.

    Cheers!

  4. Dear Carnity Off-road Club, Thank you SO MUCH for organizing this event.

I don't know how else to state this- EVERY drive is such a huge learning experience. For a total newbie like me, it takes the company of experts like you all (and your unending, selfless patience) to help in my learning. And to top it all, its an absolute honor to have spent time in the company of all the kind, warm and hospitable participants.

@Gaurav, @Rahimdad, @Srikumar, ALL DRIVE PARTICIPANTS, you guys absolutely ROCK!

(PS: There is an vehicular performance query that I faced during the ride, I will share my experience on the same via a separate topic, for soliciting feedback. Cheers!)

  5. Hi @Ren13 & @desertdude, thank you for the feedback. I agree, while the desire to have a fully adaptable car seat is indeed very tempting, I will look into the upholstery option too. Lemme get more info on this, and if it will address the issues I am facing.

Hi @Gaurav, thank you for your feedback, and even more for sharing the listings. I will check with these folks.

    Wishing everyone a great weekend!!!

  6. Dear Carnity Team,

    Greetings! Hope all is well.

I am looking for changing my current Driver's seat on my vehicle (Nissan Patrol Safari 2005). I presently have the old design, with the 2 manual knobs for adjusting the lumbar & hip support settings. This is starting to get quite uncomfortable on daily commutes & weekly long drives

If I wanted to change the Driver's seat only, to an electronic one with all the creature comforts ;) , would this be compatible with my vehicle? Plus any cost reference if you have, please.

(PS: I've already trawled the Sajaa shops for a second hand Super Safari seat, but to no avail.)

  7. Hello Folks, my apologies, only able to post just now.

    1. Visiting the Aftermarket shops in SHJ, behind Sahara & near the Tire shops, I found only one shop selling the spoiler in Grey, cost including installation was AED 450, last price quoted was AED 420. I skipped this.

    2. Next I visited the user spare shops in Sajaa, but could not find any event after trawling about for ~2 hours. ;).

    So the hunt continues :)

  8. Dear Carnity members,

Good day. Hope all is well. I drive a Nissan Patrol Safari 2005 Model (beige color). I am looking to add on a spoiler for upgrading the look :) . I request any info you could share on the below matters, please:

    1. What would a good one cost me, with installation?

    2. Would it involve any drilling on the roof, or is it clipped on?

    3. Does having a spoiler affect mileage of the vehicle?

    Grateful for any support.

    Thanks in Advance!

  9. Gentlemen, Good day. Hope all is well. It was my first experience offroading in the desert and I super-loved it. I would like to thank all of you for being such amazing instructors and for the warm, friendly company. And I completely agree with what the marshalls said, as a Newbie I should spend more time getting the smaller details right before aiming too big. ;). It was an absolute thrill riding with you all. I will return for more :)

I had a couple of questions id like to ask, please help me with the same.

    1. The motorola walkie talkie- could you let me know the model name/number for the correct piece, please.

    2. Whats the most important thing I should do post a desert outing- other than the re-infaltion that is.. Should I get my brake pads cleaned post every ride?

    3. Any reference (shop no/ name, etc) for the outlets in Dragon Mart that sell the basic kits- Flag pole, Pole suction fitter etc.

    4. Was this the last newbie drive? If yes could I still join in for the Fewbie Drives for experience, ofcourse progressing as per Marshall's instruction on taking on incremental challenges?
