Every off-roader must know: What Went Wrong?
dune jockey replied to Rahimdad's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
Words of wisdom!!Thanks @Rahimdad. Steer down should be the simple step for everyone to avoid such situations. -
Get it checked with a reliable mechanic, saves you a lot of hassle later. Just the regular stuff you can do yourself 1. Check on rta website for any accidents 2. Make sure its GCC 3. Some tell tale signs of off road abuse by earlier owner - bumper cuts, suspension mods, removing the side step, rear boot inner handle break, rear boot railings will be bent, front /rear tow hooks will be bent or not stock, stock GCC comes with only right front tow hook and no holes in chassis on left side, sand on the dash panel inside the viewing glass, sand in the air dam, ABS kill switch, engine excessively tilting when you revv, AT tyres , absent mud flaps...etc. avoid such cars as they will need some proper service ( which will be major one!) Good luck! Price for a 2lac run car would be around 20k, or around. It's a buyer's market!

Every off-roader must know: What Went Wrong?
dune jockey replied to Rahimdad's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
I feel this thread should be seen by everyone in Carnity and learn from the mistakes others have committed. While it's still quite a different experience when you actually are in such a situation, but atleast one is informed and prepared how to react and knows what can happen !! -

Gravity is your best friend on sand, you fight and you will lose hands down!. On slip side of a dune (super soft side ) if you see or feel you are fish tailing best is to steer towards the fish tail and exit out. The least one can do when you dont have momentum is dont press more gas. You may get stuck or have refusal which is better than worse which was about to happen with the Pajero- 524 replies

Snorkel or no snorkel.. ? for Driving in Desert.
dune jockey replied to Rizwan Waheed's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
Absolutely!! Please do at least 10 to 15 rides , know your vehicle pros and cons for driving on sand and then decide on the modifications (suspension, tuning, snorkel, etc as the list is endless and a mirage 🤣)if you really need them. With so many garages and so many clubs where everyone likes to show off their monstrous looking vehicles , remember what you need is good power to weight ratio, right momentum & approach , and of course keep gravity as your friend who never betrays you. Good luck!- 17 replies

4mm skid plate - is it enough?
dune jockey replied to Niki's topic in Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum in UAE
As you get more interested and progress in your levels 4 mm will not be enough. Prefer 6 mm at least , 8 mm is better . I personally prefer 10mm for my X as it has a very low radiator unlike FJ which has better clearance in front. Even 10 mm could not save me from a radiator break on some nasty bump, so better protection always gives you some peace of mind.- 14 replies
