  1. Great Initiative. I have been wanting to make a kit recommended in the advices section but due to my limited knowledge did not go anywhere on it. hopefully now will be a good learning exercise.
  2. @varunmehndiratta Go and have a look at Ace, they have Red AOR style off brand 20l jerry cans for 200 dirhams. Thy are made tough. They also sell 2x10l cans that can be split into two. They are green in color.
  3. Please go this E11 station, previous one is in the wrong side of the road. Apologies. ADNOC Service Station | Shawamekh-(South West) (755) https://goo.gl/maps/aYA57VMqvch4ZGSy6
  4. ADNOC Service Station | Al Wathba (890) https://goo.gl/maps/zyFcAtiFUKbXCXKu8 is perhaps the nearest petrol station which is around 17 KM (26 minutes) away from the meeting point. So plan accordingly. alternatively this might be in the way if coming on E30 ADNOC Service Station | Al Dafra (949) https://goo.gl/maps/bPASW4jtgcUK9Ls9A and this one on E11: ADNOC Service Station | (171) https://goo.gl/maps/Cj7CsK2zSmXWq2cA6 If anything near please let us know.
  5. Include me in the list. Just is did not want hypothetical risk of drain for this whole day drive. Otherwise I am game.
  6. Many don’t want to go home it seems - 2 whole days? I didn’t even want to join the intermediate drive. Having said that let me try to waitlist myself or my bitter half to one more drive. The meeting point is where we camped last year.
  7. I as a professional list maker - make lists and tick them off. frankly it’s a Waste of money for the time being for my use - I know that. I also realized I do have a small socket set from ace that covers most of what is recommended, I only got confused by the bigger mm set available in the shops. Only thing remains is the spare valves.
  8. Last year I did the Yellow Truck drive as fewbie on 18th Dec with @Asif Hussain as lead and @Vanessa8580 at the back and is still one of the top memorable drives. Did a night camping with my son and @Kailas who was the center forward in the drive (only use of my camping gear outside of my house till date), near the meeting point and still we were the last people to reach to the meeting point. It’s a must go drive for everyone in Carnity.
  9. I have been working on my @Carnityrecomnded off-road tool kit for sometime now. I am stuck at Sockets what should I get? I never felt the need for a socket wrench or kit but it is in the list and I have to to get it, whether I need or not. On my car only thing I ever broke were the rear bumpers and quick fixed it with some heavy duty zip-ties until I replaced it with the current Mopar steel bumper 4th on my car. Can someone (@Frederic I am looking forward to hear from you) recommend a definitive set I can get and tick off the check list? preferably Yato branded as I am collecting it for this project and I have a OCD so YATO. last two remaining and it’s a old list.
  10. This drive was one of the most challenging drives I have even been and had a lot of fun driving in that narrow band of tall and highly technical dunes. Sometimes I wondered how on earth are we going to come out of it, but it wasn't no match for @Shaaz Sha. Thanks to @Ale Vallecchi for helping with all the recoveries and @Tbone on in the sweep. It was good catching up with @Santoso Marjuki, @Adhir Saxena, @Sunil Mathew, @Zed & @Thomas Varghese I had installed a Tazer JL programmer on my Jeep and it was the first time driving in the desert with it. Due to the programmer my car was that was playing some other games with me and I was loosing momentum while driving in my usual way.
  11. Coming though E11 or E311 go to this Petrol Station: ADNOC Petrol Station-Al Mearad (686) Coming through E611+E75 go to this Petrol Station: ADNOC Service Station
  12. I will recommend these three storage items for Jeep. They are pretty handy. 1. Back Seat Cover: I now got 2 of them and I can carry lot of essential stuff in it like radios, deflators, night light and much more. if you can plan properly with one of these plus a bag with rope and shovel you are all set. 2: Purse Holder: I keep my purse in it. 3: Center Console Organizer: some models have coin and card holder. Ordered one of those as well.
  13. I go out to a Car Wash at Al Quoz who take 45 buck for a full wash plus vacuum including under the bonnet and sometimes I join the cleaning crew to do a little bit of specific detailing myself. One thing I have always avoided doing with my Jeep is to have the daily night cleaners clean the car, all that they do is put swirl marks on the car.
  14. Thanks to @Gaurav had a great drive, and enjoyed thoroughly in the back and had a nice experience with few recoveries as well. @JeromeFJ behind you @Sudhanva Sonawane, @Simon Claes, @Michel Van Woudenberg and @Manoj Soman were driving without any trouble at all, and definitely enjoying the drive while the cars were moving. Recoveries are part and parcel of the desert driving and everyone has to go though them. Be patience when others are stuck, as everyone gets stuck - its just matter of time. Everyone will also get involved in recovering while others being recovered. This is my recording of the drive if anyone is interested. After a clam and quite first part we went through what was a nice technical area. @Manoj Soman, you still have my radio, sorry I forgot as I was in a hurry to meet someone. Can you ping me on 056 888 5546 so that I can come and pick it up from you?
  15. I screw this gauge and then deflate while monitoring the pressure to 10 psi. normally when I stop I am at 11-12 psi after the tire gets back to normal air temp. and it is quick way of accurately deflating, with less chance of over/under deflation.
  16. These are two issues I faced with the Open Top + Sand. Others have varying milage on their open top. This year I am contemplating to remove the top for the on road driving but will put it back for the off-roading. 17. I had removed the hard top last year. You can do it yourself if you have access to 1 or 2 of your friends who can help lift the hard top. All you need is the tool set provided by Jeep to remove it. I had stored in my parking lot, Being the last car in the row I have some space besides my parking, alternatively you may use one of those standing lift storage systems or strollers in the designated parking space itself. i use tool bags for storing all my gear they don’t move around and easier to move in and out of the car. I have 3 bags, 1 with 3 piece AOR shovel, kinetic rope, 2 with tools 3 with Air tools (air hose etc). I keep the first recovery bag in the passenger side foot rest, rest two behind the front seats between in rear seats, they don’t move or rattle as well. Alternatively you can put it in the rear and strap them for extra security. Last year after I removed the top and drove in the sand, a lot of sand slid into the speakers and they stated to make rattling sound and had hard time getting rid of it. Had a heater button failure (tho it happened after I put back the roof) and finally when i had it fixed that the mechanics cleaned all the sand. However exciting it seems, frankly it’s not worth the trouble to remove it for the desert. And as it is a Jeep already makes awful lot of noise and even more after you remove the top. Plus the dust and heat. While the temperature readings on the weather app shows lower temps the actual on road temps are too high. Removing tops in US makes sense where they don’t have all the dust like we have while going off-roading in the mountains & rock crawling etc. I am more concerned about dust and sand in my car because my Jeep is a daily driver and I like a clean car. I go lengths to make sure that the car interiors are in perfect condition (tho if one were to look at anytime might differ that ascertion - since as a off-road car as well, you can do only so much) Having said all that you - need to experience the fun of topless car first hand, you do. So go ahead remove it and put it in your parking spot. if you have a designated covered parking I am sure no one will flick it off that location.
  18. @Foxtrot Oscar can you please waitlist me for my second drive of the week?
