DRIVE PLAN We will start our drive from Bab Al Shams in the Al Marmoom Conservation Area, enjoy some technical dunes along the way that I am expecting to be soft as well as a bit wet and very technical. We will also try to find some nice dunes and practice ridge riding and criss crossing. After that, we will enjoy a drive that will take us near to the Last Exit. Read Carefully: I haven’t driven in this area for about 3 years, and I’m planning to explore it. There will likely have been changes so we'll be open to surprises. I think the sand might be soft and perhaps a bit wet, so I’d like the cars to be lighter, preferably below 2.5 tons in their usual stock setup. It would be great if we could avoid really big vehicles. Also, the sand dunes are going to be narrow, so trucks might not be the best choice for this terrain. Keep your shovels handy. Request every member that joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities. Thank you @Gaurav for guiding me through the Newbie drive lead training—what a truly memorable drive this turned out to be. Taking over the lead just as the rain, wind, shifting sand, and thunder all came together made for a challenging but rewarding experience. I’m really glad to have shared it with so many of you. A big thanks to @J-P L and @Andrew John Melvill for stepping up to lead the recovery and working through the pop-out. You both worked brilliantly as a team. It was a nasty one, with a lot of wet sand that needed to be cleared multiple times. In the end, Gaurav’s tango maneuvers and the 50 PSI bounce tip did the trick and helped get the last part of the convoy out safely. Have a great week ahead, everyone, and stay safe!

Here is our track and stats from our drive. What is notable is the up and down elevations we nailed a number of times during the morning covering a 40m range. You all did well navigating the stages on our way up and down each time. There were only a handful of second attempts to get the right approach and momentum just right while maintaining good control.

Good morning everyone. I hope you and your families are all safe. In a way, I’m really grateful we were able to enjoy this drive together before all the madness unfolded later in the day. Saturday’s route through the Falaj Al Mualla area offered a great mix of technical sections, soft patches, and some beautiful ridges. All of you handled the terrain exceptionally well. The way the convoy navigated the obstacles and worked through the trickier spots made the whole drive smooth and enjoyable. A special thanks to @J-P L and @Danie for the quick shoveling assist when I got myself planted in that soft patch. Also, well done @Soap for learning that new self‑recovery technique—patient rocking, keeping momentum controlled, and gradually freeing yourself without a pull. One to remember. Big appreciation to @J-P L and @Mehmet Volga for solid Center Forward support, and to @Cha for keeping the convoy well‑managed and informed from Sweep. And hats off to @Danie for doing a great job as Second Lead—clean lines, good spacing, and clear corrections throughout. Stay safe, stay kind, and look out for one another. A little consideration goes a long way, especially in times like these.

DRIVE DESCRIPTION On our last outing in this area with @DP1011 back on 27 December 2025, we enjoyed an amazing blend of desert and wadi terrain, but the recent rains had left the sand quite moist, limiting how much we could truly play on the dunes. This time, we’ll skip the wadi section altogether and focus purely on the long, inviting dune stretches we spotted during that drive—the ones that looked too good to ignore but weren’t in the right condition that day. With the sand now expected to be much drier and more forgiving, we’re heading back for a dedicated dune‑thrill session, hoping to finally enjoy the full potential of those beautiful lines and smooth climbs.
