  1. Thank you @Rahimdad Bhai for what was a challenging drive and for the confidence to put me as SL - such a privilege as following you felt like a 1:1 lesson the whole drive! The day required patience and every member of the drive showed that to each other which was amazing to see! @Ashy and @Brette were an example to me on what it takes to do the SF role and @Paul Zeitoun was comedy gold which just lightened the mood for us all... almost every stuck I would hear laughter (even after 4 hours) .. you and @Rahimdad bhai made the hardest parts of the day full of laughter (18+ warnings required :)) I join the drives to escape the working week and collect some fresh air ... so no matter how many stops I really enjoy the environment we find ourselves! This was one of, if not the most technical drive I have been on (and the longest sidie)... the many stops allowed me to enjoy the views and surrounding and I hope others managed to take this in also (the sun breaking through the clouds was stunning). The dunes didn’t have a single track on them- they were tight and resembled choppy seas .. added the pic below as i cannot believe we all made it through that as fewbies with smiles and a lot learnt! Added a few more pics to the gallery and below to remind everyone what a beautiful day we were treated to! See you all on the next one
  2. @topgear now that would have me upgraded in an instant!!! With Jeep officially dropping in a v8 we can still hope 😃
  3. 2021 welcomes in the rebranded FCX (FJ xTreme) -> lets welcome the new FJ Adventure X (spec sheet attached) look forward to having an FJC, FJX and FJA convoy some time soon PS the pricing is misleading (FJC starts at 140k and the FJA at 165k) 21ym_fj_cruiser.pdf
  4. Hi all, I found 2 useful documents to share with the fellow FJC community: Complete FJ Repair Manual (attached) FJ Electrical Diagram and guide (link) as the above attachment is so large i couldn't include both in here so simply sharing the link. Hope these come in helpful to those of you able to take on some tasks at home (i look forward to the day where that's me!) FJ_RepairManual.pdf

  6. I purchased the same as @Frederic based on amazon reviews. It replaced a lightweight budget one I used indoors. The gravity hook, full height (60” plus) and ball joint sold it to me (equivalents from the big brands were 4-5 times the price). I have used it on a windy balcony and it was superb for stability so thinking desert Astro it will be ideal.
  7. @Lorenzo Candelpergher @Wrangeld thank you both for a superb drive and appreciate how much care you took of us all! Getting to the exit early was more critical than you can know! Thank you 🙏🏽 Glad to see @Yasas Dharmadasa was able to be recovered. @Lorenzo Candelpergher if that was your first lead I feel privileged to have been on it... such a calm leader and the route was incredible ... I cannot wait to visit there again as it demanded a lot of concentration and was a serious challenge for me! I have to say seeing how you take your car through all of these routes adds to the confidence you give us... I think as a lead you have the biggest, longest and heaviest car and show it goes everywhere!!! For me that’s a lesson in itself watching your line and approach! look forward to joining another of your drives ... @Wrangeld I joined this drive to be under your lead so look forward to your next drive! CF and sweep were flawless in what was a difficult route and being at the back of that ride was not easy so kudos Sweep!
  8. @Chaitanya D what an awesome shot and this is the beat advert for AD drives... I need to brave up and just get out there soon!
  9. @Shiroy Tarapor with you saying the above ... go for the super safari ... no regrets when you see it every morning thinking what-if .... if budget allows, you’ll drive off super happy and won’t be looking at the super safaris as they pass you on the highway with envy It’s certainly a premium they charge for the cosmetics but I anticipate you’ll keep this car for a while and the hobby hopefully the same so that extra 20-25 will be long forgotten ... all about the budget! For me I had a fixed budget and even though I loved the FJ Extreme I stayed firm with my budget and bought the standard car. When I see @Ahab Shamaa car I do feel like I have a crush ... but am in love and loyal to my stock FJ and knowing my decision was driven to stay within a certain budget I drive happily. now the other option is buy the basic and spend the 25k doing the mods you want the way you want.... then you have the mine field of finding garages to trust etc .. you are in a win win situation ... which every flavor of safari you choose it will be a joy to drive on the desert!
  10. @topgear the setup is called Indeflate (South African company). If you go their actual site you will find their official UAE/Dubai distributor (we not able to name garages here). https://www.indeflate.co.za/retailers.html A lot of the usual 4*4 shops are now selling them also... try the official dealer first as they have really good after sales if needed. there are a ton of firms making similar now however this was almost the same price as the independent made ones and highly reviewed ... just under 800aed if I remember. Some great videos online to make your own however I found once you add all the parts up and the mistakes I would make the cost difference is minimal.
  11. @Chaitanya D even though I cannot join this mid week drive I love the idea so consider a +1 in spirit from me if you measuring the experiment/interest! Hope to join a future drive and this time is great ...!
  12. Spend time doing the full comparison independent of the sales person as Gaurav mentioned many of them not always trained with all models. Below for ease is the brochure and the final pages list all the features across all models ... seems dif lock is now standard which is great but highlight the differences and bring them up here if you need opinion quick edit having gone through the brochure... like you I would be tempted by the entry level model now! Save 20-25k. I would miss parking sensors as I have terrible spacial awareness ... however those are easy retro fit if needed! This is a tougher choice than I thought/remember! Manual seats and manual temp is no issues at all.... cloths seats combined woth the absolute bare interior only adds to the car being made for the desert the one modcon I missed and spent on was decent speakers as the route to our drives are usually 3hr round trips... but that’s only a fraction of the 25k saved potentially ... good luck and keep us posted!
