  1. Hi, Im selling my Patrol Safari 2024 'Al Ostoura' Edition: - 7200km - No modifications, all parts are original - Reason for selling: downsizing
  2. We have a lot of Xterra users in our team. We don`t have a thread putting together all the must modifications for Xterra. Lets discuss them here to have these documented all together under one thread. - Skid plate Since the radiator is sitting too low at Xterra this is one of the must to do modification to protect your car. What to be careful is to have one with radiator brackets. - Towing Points Many people are mentioning original towing points are not strong enough. Is anyone done this modification can explain what to do what to be careful? Is front and back both needs to be changed? Last leaders lead my back towing point bent a bit and touched to the bumper. I am willing to change it with something heavy duty. - Kill Switch I personally don't have one. I am just closing the traction control button when i start off roading and i haven`t had any issues so far. Many says this is essential, why? I haven`t had any difficulties so far.
  3. Hi All, I am planning to buy an Armada (2012 or 2013 model) as my daily driver + the weekend offroad vehicle with the Carnity family. Do notice a lot of feedback in various discussions on its sheer size and weight but does it feel much different than a LC200? Please also advise on the aspects I need to look out for while making the purchase. Look forward to your valuable inputs. Thank you. Praju
  4. Hi guys. I'm new to off roading and need some advice for you'll. I want to buy a 4X4 for some casual offroading especially in the desert. Definitely want to drive in the dunes on soft sand and want to have a vehicle that has good safety and has good technology to come out of being stuck. Safety is important as I'll be going with the family. My choices are as per follows: 1. Toyota Land Cruiser - 4L, V6 2. Toyota Land Cruiser - 4.6L, V8 3. Toyota Land Cruiser - 5.7L, V8 4. Nissan Patrol LE - 5.6L, V8 5. Nissan Safari/ super safari - 4.8L V6 ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE 2020 models may be even 2021 model. Please give me your professional advice. Will a V6 be enough or do I need a V8. I have also heard the toyotas come with crawl mode. What does Nissan have thats similar to that? Look forward to hearing back from you'll. Cheers Roy
  5. With @Barry raising the topic on Turbo installation on his favorite truck, he has got me thinking of getting a Turbo installed in my Nissan Pathfinder 2001 model R50. Recently I have been watching a video breaking the myth of cheap turbo sets found on ebay installed on a vehicle in like 10 minutes and is like a fan only which is added to the intake. This turbo set claims increase of 50 hp on the said vehicle, but does nothing except made a sweet sound. As these guys explained that the turbo or super charge is all about getting compressed air into the engine. I now am more curious to learn about turbo charging a vehicle, in particular my Pathy R50. I used to have a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSR4 with turbo which was tuned by AMG. This came as a stock factory install and I never had any problem passing the car and it was a lot of fun to drive. Firstly, what all needs to be done to install a turbo, it is not just dropping in a turbo in the engine bay and walla, my car also has a MAF sensor, how does that restrict the turbo from working, or is there a way to adjust it? Does the ECU needs to be reprogrammed? On long run what effect does it have on a wearing old engine which you are trying to keep alive and running? Would I need new headers and exhaust? What kind of realistic minimum gains you can expect? How much would such a setup cost? Is it legal, will I have a problem passing my car in RTA if I do get the turbo installed?
  6. Hi everyone, I have a problem with my Nissan Altima 2013 at 69,000 kms mileage I own it new. Last Thursday everning, I was driving in the basement parking and there's a sudden vibration and engine stops when I accelerate or reverse the car. I have sent it to Nissan service and they said I have a faulty CVT transmission. Can anyone here suggest any workshop where I can check for 2nd opinion? Or anyone here has experienced the same and the possible solution they had? Appreciate all your replies. @Gaurav
  7. Could this be the new Xterra Nissan is planning to launch to compete with fortuner ?
  8. I own a Nissan Sunny 2003 JDM Model (B15). I'm not a car geek, so I'm afraid I may not be able to explain the issue well. I'm recently having some sluggish Acceleration issue with the car. For example one morning I wasn't getting any speed on the acceleration. Looks like it's moving with the speed of lifting the break. I shut it down and went home. After few hours I came back and started it. All of a sudden it came back normal with a very fast acceleration. Is that a Known issue with the car? Have anyone experience this before? If so, what might be some probable solution? I'd be really helped. Thank You

    car subwoofer

Hi, Need some suggestions on subwoofers. I drive Nissan X trail 2018 base model as it stats, music system is also very base level. So planning to install subwoofer with reasonable price. I am looking for subwoofer which doesn't eat much space, probably under seat subwoofer which comes with the amp. I do not want thumping music but soothing some bass Which lacks in my current factory system. suggestions with specifications would be highly appreciate
  10. As soon I entered the world of off-roading in Dubai back in 2006 with much awaited Land Cruiser LWB - desert safari special, I realize that it's too heavy for real dune bashing and every convoy used to wait for my refusals and failed attempt. After the first stage of denial, I realized that I need something small and nimble and then my attention got glued to the next King of the desert in Dubai - Nissan Patrol. After a few months of searching, I finally got lucky with the 2006 model Nissan Patrol GL - SWB with the manual gearing. This 4x4 had no "bells and whistle" other than the real grunt of a capable off-roader, but it was a true head turner and it came almost desert ready with Aragosta rally suspension with lift, BF Goodrich tires, Warn winch, and plenty of underbody protection mods. All mods were done very tastefully and still able to pass the RTA test back in those days. I had this Patrol for about 2 years and never spent any extra money other than the regular maintenance. I just had an issue with the front wheel bearing once, so changed it outside the agency under 600-800 dhs. Every time I used to send this car to the agency and was very happy with its performance, looks and reliability. Due to stiffer suspension, it was a pain to drive on the long drives, as I did few Oman visit and came back with a sore back. Nissan Patrol with 4.5 V6 engines in such short body was a killer recipe for any off-road enthusiast's to climb the dunes with zero run-ups with the torque so huge that you can even drag up instantly with even 5 people in the car. It was an amazing 4x4 for self-recovering in almost any worst situation and 1st gear torque was the best friend ever to rock/crawl out of any sticky spots. Being so ready with power delivery and torque it was a true gas guzzler that I could see the fuel gauge needle move during serious pushing. I haven't used to maintain the fuel logs, back in those days but it must be close to 20 L/100 on road in two wheels and close to 30L/100 in 4x4 mode. The first gear for the road was too short, that you will always spin wheels unintentionally if you are in rush, so starting on 2nd was the best option to have a good drag till 40 and then change to 3rd. In off-road first gear was a blessing to go anywhere with zero momentum or climb up sideways and splash sand and still go upward on side slopes - had a crazy power. However, this year model up until 2008 had a known issue with its gearing and downshifting on a long hill climb was a disaster. You can't attack tall dunes in 1st as it was too short that 6-7K rpm will get you 20-30 speed, and downshift from 2nd to 1st you will wait until 2500 rpm so it will again spoil the long hill climbing momentum. It should have allowed downshifting just above 3000 - 3500 band to let continue the momentum and plus without breaking the speed. This issue has been addressed by Nissan after 2009 model and in 4800 VTEC models. As many of my friends and cousins have swapped the gearing of 4500 with 4800 model and were very happy on the long hill climb. There was another known issue for Nissan Patrol I heard was a bent differential due to heavy offroading. Luckily I never had that, as the previous owner has installed good braces under the differential to prevent this from happening. Almost all my friends had their diff bent within 2-3 years of regular off-roading, some got changed in warranty by Arabian Automobile and some left to spend their own hard earn money. If anyone is looking for this year model to buy, then you must check that engine and gear mounts are safe to drive as I have seen few Patrols when you give full gas, engine shake to the right side and can cause some other damage. The second thing to check is the wheel bearing and steering alignment is straight or not as due to offroad jumps and irregular landing this might have been damaged. The third is to check differential is still straight or bent already due to jumps or offroad impacts. Resale value of this beast is always a very big plus point if you maintain it well. I bought this for 80K and sold for 60-65 after little more than 2 years. As it's fun to drive and fun for weekend offroaders so it's always in demand in used car market due to less supply.

  12. Hi Guys, I am new to Dubai and came across your website which looks so informative. So many wonderful posts. I have gone dune bashing with my cousins and I guess I have a dune bug that has bitten me. Now I want to get my own off-road monster. I am divided between the Toyota Land Cruiser 100 series and the Nissan Patrol and so far my cousins have been great help to confuse me even more. I would like to have opinion from the car gurus here as to which one is better for say 70% of on-road driving and 30% desert driving. What is power to weight ratio, and which one is better? Which one is more comfortable on-road? Which one is better in the desert drive? Which one has more after market mods available? Which one is lower on maintenance? Generally fewer headaches and more fun? I am eagerly awaiting your valuable inputs, and hope you will not leave me confused like my cousins.
  13. Dear All, Last time I had some timing issue with my Nissan Pathfinder 2001, R50 and the garage people wanted to make the readings on the OBD II reader, but they were unable to connect due to the connector cable not being compatible. They tried bring about 4 adapters but none of them worked. Anybody has any experience or ideas as to how I can get the adapter or a connector cable to be replaced which will solve this issue. Any feedback would be appreciated.
  14. It’s nice to have dedicated car community for GCC cars here. I recently moved to Dubai from London and purchased a used 2009 Nissan Altima with 180,000 Kms on the clock. I have driven this car for 300 kms and since then car is not starting at all in the morning, but it starts in the evening. I am trying this since few days and everyday this car is making me late for office, as it just doesn’t want to start and then I have to take my wife car and she goes in taxi because of me. One day I even jump start the car and it still didn’t succeed. Every day I come in evening and start the car and it start fine in couple of cranks, but same car fails every morning in 100’s of crank. Can someone please help in identifying the problem or may be this car don’t like this winter weather which is not as severe as London (which is surprising) and still car misbehave like this in morning. According to previous owner battery is just one year old and every time it fails to start I can see the interior lights and headlight work fine, so that’s ruled out. Is there anything wrong with oil, spark plug – should I change them all…? Please help.
  15. Hi Guys, I am here with my bad experience to share and desperately need an advice on my car problem. I have recently bought a used 2004 Nissan Maxima few months ago, with a very first experience of buying used car in Dubai, and guess what happen it has been jerking when I am driving a car in 1st or 2nd gear. Honestly this seem very pathetic and scary to me. I think it's a bad quality issue from the manufacturer. I never expected this type of quality from Nissan, which seems very famous in Dubai. Anyways since it's my car now, so I have to resolve this issue. Can anybody please help me with possible repair solution and approx charges for fixing it?
  16. Hi guys, im new in dubai since 1 month. I am working with hospitality service inshallah soon buy any good used car here. I am speaking to most people saying Nissan and Toyota is no1 in dubai. My friend drive nissan altima for 3 years and very nice saying, no problem. I am thinking of nissan tiida or sunny both looks nice.
  17. Fantastic work done by Nissan after a long history of building strong, dependable pickups. But now it's even much better in the design and experience for the next generation Navara. For me, having a business for heavy load lifting it's good to have opted for a cabin and body configuration for which NP300 Navara is perfect. I am not sure as of now about which type of vehicle to choose, but I'm sure to find one that suit both of my work and play requirements
  18. I am quite impress with the latest Nissan IDS concept as it not fully automatic, What I belive that the objective of this autonomy is not to reduce the need for the driver, but to empower them. For people like me who love to drive car manually without the need or desire to hand over control to robots, But if i am bored or tired, I can simply switch automatic modes to make life more pleasant, efficient and safer. Atleast for a sake of some rest on a long route. What you guy think of it ??
  19. Nissan revealed at the 2015 Tokyo motor show yesterday, what could be the first look at its next Leaf electric hatch. Nissan not only envolved in design but also its electric powertrain and driverless vehicle technology. Why would they stick seats on the floor an not slightly higher up, it looks weird isn't...?
  20. Technically reports say that the "Nissan 370Z Nismo Roadster concept" is all new". IMHO it’s really just a convertible version of the existing Nismo 370Z. And if that being the case, it’s not a huge surprise that the concept looks production ready in no time with Nissan likely taking a production 370Z convertible and outfitting it with all the same Nismo goodies found on the Nismo 370Z coupe. Nice meeting you "Mr. New Roadster" lol.
