  1. @Kailas My apologies for pulling out. My fewbie promotion hasn't gone through yet. Not sure if it will come by tomorrow morning.
  2. Hello @Shaaz Shaany chance you could squeeze me into the drive. I'll become a fewbie by tomorrow. Applied 3 days ago.
  3. Hello Doc @Chaitanya D I know this is an absolute newbie drive. But I don't think I am getting a drive this weekend, Is there any possibility of me joining this drive? Regards Krishna
  4. Congrats @Looper on the promotion. Looking forward for your support as always.
  5. What an amazing amazing drive @Islam Soliman One of the most unique drives for me so far. A different kind of desert driving but very informative in terms of understanding what my car car could and couldn't do and also the varying slopes and the nature of sand. The whole convoy was very excited mainly because of the warnings by @Islam Soliman. Everyone was pumped up to tackle the "difficult" technical dunes. It was a great experience to be second lead. The tracks were like railroad, something which I experienced for the first time. Usually I am at the end of the convoy driving on churned tracks. Initially, I was under a bit of pressure not to let the convoy down with my infamous stucks and losing track in my previous drives, but I believe I did a decent job. Thank you @Murtaza Bhuria for taking the hit for me This drive threw a lot of surprises. Tech dunes combined with a sudden cold climate. The sand was a bit hard during some parts and suddenly shifted to powder soft when we least expected it. This drive tested my concentration skills to the max. Had a few stucks and refusals here and there but those were expected due to Islam's initial warning. Amazing effort from the entire convoy. @LooperIf only you charged 10 aed per tug, you'd be richer than all of us combined man But jokes aside, you were the pillar of support on Saturday. It was fun watching your Jeep pull out behemoths like the Raptor, Yukon, Super safari and not to mention my infiniti. Multiple times. Treat your Jeep to a nice car wash and fluids man. He deserves it. @Alfred Alinazar Hey man. We couldn't get to know each other as we were at different ends of the convoy but you did a great job sweeping at the back. This was evident from the pace of the convoy. The final 30 mins of the drive were pumping. The fast paced exit with the side sweeps gave the perfect ending to the GO TECH drive. Many of us got a bit excited when we couldn't find the exit and the drive was continuing Overall, we left home with satisfaction. I believe I can speak for the entire convoy on this. Until next week guys. Can't wait!
  6. Well @Islam Soliman As soon as I saw your drive, I clicked "Going" Only after that, I saw the drive details and your warning As much as i wanted a regular drive, I decided to go on this drive to hone my self recovery skills and also, I increased the clearance in my car so I think this drive will be good to test it. I just hope not to have a popout. And @Looper Its good to know you got my back buddy Just a request @Islam Soliman If we all keep a good pace and finish on or before end time, It would be great to do a quick sidey before calling it a day Looking forward as always, just one more night to go! See y'all in the sand soon
  7. No. Your car has a glitch. The fuel gauge stuck in full which means that your car is not using any fuel during driving and the tank is full. Dont sell your car. you got free fuel for life. However, NEVER fold the third row seats flat. If you do that, the glitch will be gone and you will go back to filling fuel for your trips. Source: Trust me bro!
  8. Update on the 2009 qx56 after 5 newbie drives. The car is quite powerful and pulls its weight. The front bumper cracked at a few places while nose diving and the rear keeps getting bent. (removed rear bumper and trimmed the front. Haven't driven it yet after that.) Fishtails a lot during side sweeps. After 5 drives, i feel this can be managed once i get more skilled. Very low center of gravity - gives great confidence. Mods on my bucket list, * A/T tires * Bash plate (bumper trim exposes a lot of underbody) * Find out a way to disable ABS. It makes me scream in my head while nose diving. * Switch to Armada rear shocks once the lovely air suspension quits on me. Planning to continue to fewbie with it. Let's see if this can take me to fewbie plus. Long term plan - swap this engine into an xterra 145hp/ton @desertdude @Frederic @Zixuan Huang - Charlie
  9. Hello Guys, I have a 2009 infiniti qx56 and planning to move to fewbie drives soon. My front bumper took a beating during my newbie drives and my rear bumper (step) keeps getting bent on every drive. fixed it twice and then just left it like that after it bent the third time. Removed the rear bumper step so clearance increased from 9 inches to 11.5 inches so the rear angle is good. For the front, I bought another bumper (200 aed for bumper in sajja and 200 aed to repair and paint) and saved it for resale and got my existing front bumper cut (cost 200 aed). pl refer to image. My question is, after I got my front bumper cut, I realized the the under part of the bumper is quite long and was protecting the underside until the engine bay. Right now, it looks quite bare from the bottom. There is a radiator protector and a skid plate for the engine bay in stock condition. Would i still need a bash plate to protect from the front bumper till the engine bay? If yes, what size should I go for. I shall attach a pic when i go the car wash and lift the car up. 10. An amazing drive again from Carnity! Thank you @Brettefor organizing and leading this drive. It was a very informatory drive for us with the technical dunes and the sharp turns on soft sand. I was expecting a popout but i managed without a popout situation, thanks to your excellent tracks. The drive was super smooth with a good convoy pace and I really loved the final monster dune climb @Chaitanya DYou were amazing in your X and your constant motivation during stucks/refusals is a great confidence booster. your instructions were on point and helped me to get out of that tricky bowl. Thank you for teaching me blip-blip as well. Also, Sorry for scaring you by going off track on the second dune Looking forward to driving with @Bretteand @Chaitanya Dagain. The entire convoy drove well with less but unique stucks and the recoveries were interesting and informative to watch. Really loved the passion of fellow drivers during the last dune climb. Until next weekend guys. Counting the days! Cheers!
  11. One more amazing drive as usual from @Islam Soliman It was a crazy mix of technical dunes and the playgrounds. The fast paced exit through the technical dunes were enjoyable as well. Felt the drive ended too early like always Hey @JeromeFJThe best sweeper ever! It was great driving with you again, I could see you more this time as I was at the end of the convoy. Great commitment, quick to respond and thank you again for your valuable tips man. @Davie Chase Again, amazing crew support. You got your weekly workout sorted on this drive. I lost count of how many times you took out the rope, tugged someone(me) out, folded the rope and kept it in just to repeat the same every 2 mins Very precise radio instructions as well. Really appreciate. Looking forward for more drives with you. Thanks again @Islam Soliman for "intentionally" getting stuck to make me feel better You will have to do more of those as I will be looking out for your drives and join them. You are stuck with me! A big thank you to all fellow drivers. It was great driving with you and I learnt a lot of desert driving tips and "life lessons" in this drive. Let's meet next week and have a blast, as always!
  12. Is this a full day drive? Finish time is 11 PM? Hope it's a mistake. I can't do a full day drive yet.
  13. @Chaitanya DApologies. I have to drop out from this drive as my wife's covid test result hasnt come yet. I forgot to mention this in advance, sorry. I had informed my other drive but not here. Please give my spot to someone else. I have removed my RSVP. Sorry again
  14. Hello @Chaitanya D . Apologies. I will not be able to join this drive as my wife's covid test results haven't come yet. I had informed the other drive I was going but forgot that i was in WL here. Please give my spot to someone else. Thank you
  15. @Islam Soliman @Vanessa8580 Thank you for approving my WL. However, I will have to pull out of this drive because one of my wife's colleagues tested positive and she is awaiting her covid test results. I believe it's not right for me to join the drive without getting into the clear. As much as I want to drive this weekend, I'll opt out and give my spot to the next person in the WL. Shall join for next week's drive. Have a nice drive. Thank you!
  16. Hello Team, An amazing drive made even better by all my fellow riders. Thank you @Islam Solimanfor organizing this drive. The lead and the paths were awesome. Your continuous appreciation for all drivers after completing a sweep or dune crossing is commendable. This is my 3rd drive and I felt I did better than my last 2 drives even though i had to be tugged out a couple of times. But I can tell you that my stucks in the previous drives were more preventable. In this drive, I learnt to control my car without giving much gas and just using momentum even though i got stuck because of it, but I learnt a lot about how much power i need depending on the nature of the sand. I am getting there slowly but steadily @Islam Solimanyour inputs on handling and controlling a heavy car in the dunes was very beneficial and boosted my confidence in doing side sweeps. A much deserved shoutout to @Looper, You were amazing man, in your yellow jeep. Very quick and agile in going to refusals and stucks and your guidance to self recover. Thank you for your tips during the break. Within a short time into the drive, you identified that I wasn't gassing my car properly and your advice helped me complete the drive without any major stalls. Also, @OwaisGreat job with the silverado. I was expecting more stucks/refusals from you you disappointed me man, with your excellent driving skills. Same with the white xterra. you guys proved that the driver is more important than having a powerful engine or a SWB. Both @Islam Solimanand @Looper's radio instructions were on point and clear. A thank you to both of you once again for fixing my pop-out at the last minute of the drive. your commitment to ensure that the last car reaches the tarmac before you guys leave is admirable. Looking forward for many drives with you guys in the future. Overall, it was a fun filled drive and quite honest, I had a feeling that we ended the drive too early (even though we left the sands at 11 am), I was in the mood for more. Probably, I should check a full day drive next time P.S. Also, I would like to know the drivers tips and inputs on what maintenance might be needed after completing a drive, if any. for eg, after the drive, the steering in my car was vibrating a lot and was very tight especially when turning at high speeds. Got a full body wash done and took it to tyre shop to check for alignment - was OK. I was scared that i broke by suspension or something major. Garage guy checked the power steering fluid and it was low. topped up the fluid and the steering was smooth as before. Still need to check if there was a leak. Cant be the case as I changed the hoses and the entire power steering setup a couple of weeks ago.
  17. I am always late to notice these things also I think, this compressor doesnt have an overheat protection system. It would just struggle for a bit and die out for good. I remember the time when i drove 25 kms with my parking brake on at 120 kmph and wondering why my car is shaking at high speeds and smoke coming out of my rear tires. Stopped at a petrol pump and the autopro guy laughed at me and showed me the engaged parking brake.
  18. Hello @Thomas VargheseI shall share the details by EOD on your whatsapp. Also, I have used this compressor for 2 drives and works fine until now (fingers crossed) After yesterday's drive, it stopped inflating after 2 tires and was making a weird noise. I thought its fried but then the hose wasn't straight and was bent at a few places. straightened it and it inflated fine
