  1. Yeah man of course you will! It's the WOMEN'S world cup in NZ this year🤣
  2. New Zealand sadly... I will truly miss the UAE and all of the wonderful people from all over the world that I have met here and have the honour to call 'friend'
  3. It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I am leaving the UAE. My wife has got a nice new job with FIFA and the opportunity is too good to refuse. We leave in February so that means my cars are for sale: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 2017 stock standard in excellent condition with 170000km travelled. Brand new tyres and service just done. Full service history. Owned since new. Asking 135000 or near offer. The little Gold Pajero that could! 2016 SWB in top GLS trim with 3.8 Mivec engine (locking rear axle). 120000km fresh service. EFS shocks and springs giving 40mm lift. 65 series Geolandars giving another 25 mm lift. Chiptronic ECU reflash giving more revs and earlier cooling fan cut in. Modified exhaust fitted but all original cat and mufflers come with it. CHRONOS traction control switch means no more pulling fuses to kill TC and ABS, it also emulates a locking front diff when needed. ICON bash plates in 8mm front and rear and front valance trimmed to suit. Those of you who have driven with me know this is a very capable little truck and those of you who haven't can rest assured that she is in very good condition and gets full maintenance only at respected shops. All of the offroad safety gear (to Intermediate level) is available if you want it, it's all negotiable but I will not separate it from the sale of the car, especially the ARB twin compressor with reservoir! Asking 45000 all in
  4. Also, for all the SWB Pajeros... ADNOC Service Station | Abu Samra (864) - Google Maps There is a rumour that this one opens at 0600. I cannot confirm this. Regards
  5. Hi mate, Two inch lift kit (springs and shocks) EFS brand. No spacers. Huge improvement on the sand with better damping on jumps (oops, I meant 'bumps' and no bottoming out. Better turning and braking stability on the sand. On the road? I hit speed bumps without slowing down now, the shocks are fantastic. The handling and general road manners however, have dipped a noticeable amount due to the higher center of gravity but this was expected. All in for less than 5 grand if I remember right. Wazza
  6. Cracking good fog this morning! I left home in plenty of time thanks to Abu Dhabi's awful fog alarm (which every mobile phone holder in the emirate gets blasted with for free) and complied with AD's 80kph limit all the way to Sweihan. It was a pea souper all the way along Al Taf until I was virtually at the meeting point. The dunes were like a frat party with hoons and drongos roaming like drunken crows (but with less discipline) Never mind, @Vanessa8580 runs a tight ship and soon we had trundled off in a compact little convoy to taste yet again, the mighty Al Ain sand sea. Lovely cool morning turned into a lovely hot morning after a few refusals and stucks but the progress was good. Thanks to @Davie Chase for all of the hard work at centre forward, my tasks at second lead were relatively simple by comparison. Thanks to @Looper and the late @Zed for bringing up the rear and having the most fun. The only Fewbie I could observe directly was @Jessica Lambert and my observation is that she drove immaculately! never a wheel wrong. Nice to meet you @Paul Zietsman and @Zulfikhar Naiyar I hope today met your expectations and that you progressed your learning. We all start somewhere (now get to the wheel and tyre shop STAT!)
  7. OMG I'm so sorry! in my mind the drive was on Sunday... here I am checking about start point and I see the drive has already happened. I blame old age.
  8. Well what an interesting drive! A good mix of grades present on a Fewbie cruise. We had enough experience to deal with nearly everything... so nearly everything we had! Stucks, refusals, pop outs, car-sicky bail out and a mechanical failure. Thanks to @Vanessa8580for solid leadership that saw us escape the perilous sea of sand intact and in good cheer. Thanks also to @topgear for sweeping and especially @Waqas Parvezwho was busier than a one armed paper hanger helping at all four corners. Nice to meet all of the rest of you, some, for the first time and some for a long time it seems and I look forward to more of Vanessa's challenging 'Fewbie WTF?' drives in the future
  9. And just like that, 12 became 5... Thanks @varunmehndiratta for another grand plan that sadly became a short hop. Let's hope next attempt is a flying success 😂 Cheers to @Gaurav Soni for pitching in and adding some gravitas to our little convoy, you certainly earned your pay today! All in all, today was a learning experience and I'm sure we all had fun whether it was tugging or being tugged... certainly for me, I learned just how soft and powdery that tricky old desert can be when it suits! You can never relax and take traction for granted lol.
  10. Hi all, thanks for a great morning in one of the nicest areas of small dunes I have had the pleasure of cruising. @varunmehndirattagreat lead and you displayed the kind of caring, open minded approach to guiding a drive that I just love to see. No man left behind and paying heed to finishing time in the rapidly rising heat. GREAT JOB. Thanks to @Davie Chasefor being possibly the busiest CF I have ever watched! You are a tugmaster supreme. Good job @Quresh Pajero@Sudhanva Sonawane@Pieter Potgieter@Mahmoud Taha@Gregory@Tareq Al Turq for driving well and keeping your chins up during multiple stucks and refusals amongst the team, no shortage of willing shovels and encouragement. I could not see a lot from number 12 other than two Wranglies and a lot of ruts but it 'sounded like' you were having fun and learning well. Cheers to @Hisham MasaadI am so happy to be on the same drives as you every week (it seems) always a pleasure to see your smiling face. A special mention to @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler and @RiaanJH, you were the two directly in front of me that I could directly observe and I award you 100%. Great driving guys, faultless convoy discipline and not a foot wrong in the technical stuff. I commend you. Finally, thanks to the management team for honouring me with the Sweep position, it was an exciting duty for me and the first time I have been allowed it. I enjoyed eating the dust and surfing the ruts. Looking forward to a hot summer!
  11. I have standard 18in rims. I went to 65 series tyres to gain ground clearance.
  12. Hi Mike, I have been through the same thought process yes... Firstly, you cannot put 17 inch tyres on 18 inch rims so if you decide to go that way (no need to though) you WILL be buying new rims. As for the tyre size? The resolution I came to was to go up a series on my standard rims, I bought Geolandars in 65 series which yielded a one inch (25 mm) overall lift in Diameter and a 5% increase in rolling diameter. Bare in mind this is on a 40mm EFS lift kit so the clearances are absolutely on the limit vis a vis inner guards. With your 50mm lift, you may well end up with greater clearance. The major benefits of going the way I did are: 1. cost saving on rims. 2. no need to alter the speedo drive as the 5% increase simply made the factory speedo 100% accurate. 3. ability to go back to standard series tyres (if I wish to regain the shorter gearing) without changing rims. The notable downside has been: 1. The car now needs to be in first gear for steep climbs, second gear will no longer do the job. 2. The car is slower to accelerate due to the increase in gear ratio 3. The awful fuel economy got even worse as I suspect the engine is working a lot harder to pull the higher gearing. Your results may vary!
