  1. My spot is available. My family is coming to visit and I'd like to spend this afternoon with them. Until next time, enjoy the ride!
  2. I've had the UV-5R and the static was horrendous even with squelch at lvl. 9. After that, I bought the UV-9R and it's significantly better. I don't believe it to be faulty hardware, just software. You'll be happy to have spent that extra 20AED when you are cruising in the desert, listening to the wind. With the UV-5R all that I was hearing was: "...bzzzzzzzzz...bzz...bzzzz...bzzzzzzzzzzzzz".
  3. I would like to apologize to all for the delay caused by my electrical issues. Thank you @Davie Chase and the support team for helping me fix the issue. I managed to get home and the OBD didn't catch any error along the way. I'll get it sorted and I'll see you next week, hopefully 😁
  4. Don't worry @Pramod B, there are usually a couple of last-minute dropouts every weekend. I've been there before 😅 Also, if many are on the waitlist, the Carnity team usually opens a new drive or extends the convoy.
  5. Stunning location @JeromeFJ, thank you for scouting it beforehand. Thanks, @RiadJL @Ishak @Wilfredo Perez @EbrahimZAF @Ahmed Farouk @Gaurav for sharing your food, company and light beams with everyone.
  6. I promise I'll be a good boy 😂 I'll help her out with the registration, hopefully she can RSVP by tomorrow. Thanks @Gaurav for the help!
  7. Hi @Gaurav, I'd like my fiance to RSVP. She has always been my co-pilot, it's now her turn to take the wheel 😀 A couple of questions: - Does she need to register on Carnity for this drive? - She would be using my Jeep, you already have all the details about the car on my profile. What other info would be needed on your side? - I'd like to join her on this day, would it be possible for me to passively be there? Thanks!
  8. I'm running the same firmware version and had the squelch issue. It also seems they keep the same configuration of squelch levels even on newer/older firmware.
  9. On the highest squelch level, your radio keeps picking up even the smallest of noises? Do you keep getting distracted by static noise during your drive? Then you need to adjust the internal squelch levels. This tutorial is valid for Baofeng models UV5R, UV82, F8HP, and 82HP. It is not valid for models UVB5/B6 or BF888S. You will need to: - purchase the Baofeng USB programming cable - download CHIRP The fix needs a bit of programming (that's why the USB cable), but it's easy enough and all the steps are explained in detail in this article: Adjusting the internal Squelch Levels - UV5R / UV82 / F8HP / 82HP series TL;DR The factory's internal squelch level settings have long been known to have little or no impact on the actual squelch range. The smallest noise burst would easily open the squelch regardless of setting 0 through 9. Most standard Baofeng factory squelch levels range from a low of 14-22 to a high of 40-48, both of which are low, and offer very little variation of squelch levels.
  10. Thanks, @Ale Vallecchi. I've read all the linked articles, including the one you mentioned. Everything is ready, and all equipment is available already, but cannot find a solution to those two frequencies. Hopefully, they will not be needed on our first drive. See you soon!
  11. Hi @Ale Vallecchi, first drive with Carnity. All confirmed for the first part. One question: I've set up the Carnity frequencies on my Baofeng UV5-R. However for frequencies #6 and #10 I am unable to configure them. I've tried changing the step frequency, without luck. Let me know if this has happened before and if we will need channels 6 and 10. Thanks in advance.
