  1. In some brands, dealers are worst as they just check the checklist and don't carry out the work. I bought used Pajero few years back with full service history and then when it started misbehaving (rough rpm) I got the car engine opened at my friends garage to check basic stuff. His chief mechanic having 15 years of experience suspected the spark plug as a first doubt and to my surprise spark plug was JET BLACK and died already few months back. I showed him the service history and we all seen check mark over replace spark plug 2 months back.....! that means spark plug was not changed in that service, because for changing spark plug mechanic need to open engine top for at least 2 hours and then swim inside the engine bay (weird design).

So don't blindly trust anyone in today's market. Nobody is perfect.

  2. One of the best news I have read this morning in Gulf news about: Radars to start catching tailgaters from July 2015.

Well I hope people from other emirates also read this news and start behaving well in Dubai, as majority of time I experience Nissan Patrol, Old skyline and Lexus LS 400 from northern emirate comes behind you and start flash to death with less than 1 meter distance behind your bumper. Scary indeed.

Dubai: Starting from July, Dubai radars will be able to catch tailgaters, Dubai Police have announced.

Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Operations Affairs, said the move is in order to reduce casualties from accidents caused by tailgating.

Earlier this week Dubai Police launched its annual ‘Keep a safe distance’ traffic campaign, quoting tailgating as the third-leading cause of traffic deaths.

Tailgating caused 26 deaths in 2014, and 11 deaths between January and May this year. Also in 2014, Dubai Traffic Police issued 69,964 fines for people not leaving a safe distance between vehicles on Dubai roads and in 2015, 19,975 fines were issued in the first four months.

Maj Gen Al Zafein said the radar has the latest technology that can detect tailgating violations accurately, regardless of the speed of the vehicle.

The radar takes photos of the front and rear of the vehicle and can detect the violation in any lane.

The photos will help make sure the violation is legitimate and can be accessed if the driver contests the fine.

The fine for tailgating is Dh400 and four black points.

  3. I know a close friend who got S600 for filthy cheap and in two months time suspension died and he has to spend huge money to get it fix that and he wasn't able to afford it so he sold as is in half the price.

Bottom line: Go with S Class if you have deep pockets and get newer model (under 50k kms) and enjoy it, before it start all the drama.

  4. An excellent video from driving school. Maybe they can teach people how to drive correctly in roundabout Circulation !!! And explain to people: their car has light for left-right for every change of direction !!! And..priority rules !!!

I personally have never seen not more than 5% cars on roundabout using the indicators in Dubai. What's wrong guys

  5. Dude. Why don’t you complain to the consumer court for the same? I’ll tell you the reason: it’s a common issue especially in 2006 model. I owned a same car and same year model, but after reviewing about this model online I came to know it was a coomon default from the manufacturers itself. So go for it, either complain the dealer for the same or sell your car.

  6. Hey Jeanie. I read your posts before, and I suppose that you hacve VW Beetle. Well if you compare S4 to beetle, is a better choice in every aspect. Talk about luxury, maintenance or reliability, Audi is way better. Yes offcourse, you need to maintain the car properly. If you do that, there is n o better choice than Audi. And, can i ask you what specifications you are looking in your new car? If you tell me, I can help you better way.

  7. Couldnt agree more.  remeber my expeirence, when my car broke down in the middle of the road and there was smoke coming out of the engine. It was because of the coolant leak that the engine got so hot. I got really frustated that day Man! Had to call a recovery van to toe the car. I cannot even tell you how much i spent for the replacement of engine parts. It was one horrible experience i can never forget.

  8. Synthetic motor oil is not suited for the cars with high mileage. The reason being, that the synthetic oil is comparatively thin than the ordinary oil used in cars. Synthetic oil is free flowing oil, so if you put synthetic oil in a car with high mileage, there are chances of oil combustion in the car. Also, whether to use the synthetic oil in your car or not, you should always take an advice from your dealer, and read the car manual first, if it says that synthetic oil is best suited for your car then go for it otherwise not.

Now let’s discuss the pros and cons of synthetic oil:

Pros: Synthetic oil is really smooth and flows really easy in cold weather. The interval of changing the synthetic oil in a car is longer than the ordinary oil. Ordinary oil change interval is 3 to 4,ooo miles and synthetic oil is 5 to 7,ooo miles. Also, it is highly resistant when it comes to oil viscosity breakdown especially from heat.

Cons: Well, it’s expensive than the ordinary oil. And as I wrote earlier, it is not good for high mileage cars. Also, sometimes the new engine doesn’t respond to synthetic oil as it is easy to flow and thinner than the ordinary oil.

However, some brands like Chevy recommends only synthetic oil as it improves the performance and power of their cars.

And for Lexus ES, I would suggest you that you consult with your dealer first. You can also check in your car manual whether it suggests you to put synthetic oil or not. The specification of each car is unique, so you cannot really change the type of oil in your car just like that. Rather, it will affect the performance of your really bad that it may breakdown easily.
