Recall C-/E-/S-Class and GLC (205/238/222/253 platform) Model Year 2017 Mix ratio front seat belt pre-tensioner igniters
In coordination with the Ministry of Economy - Department of Consumer Protection, and in line with the keenness of the Ministry of Economy to conduct an ongoing review of all the products in the UAE and provide the customer with the required protection, Gargash Enterprises and Emirates Motor Company announce that a recall for C-/E-/S-Class and GLC (205/238/222/253 platform) will begin in near future. Concrete dates are still under final clarification.
Daimler AG has determined that on certain C-/E-/S-Class and GLC vehicles (205/238/222/253 platform) the propellant mix ratio in certain seat belt pre-tensioner igniters might not meet the specification. Thus, in case of a crash the igniters might not deploy in situations where the front seat belt pre-tensioners are activated.
The announcement has been aligned jointly with Gargash Enterprises and Emirates Motor Company and the Ministry of Economy - Department of Consumer Protection to inform customers about the launch of an inspection of the affected vehicles which are imported in UAE. Any necessary rectification work will be free of charge for the customers.
Gargash Enterprises and Emirates Motor Company will be contacting all respective customers requesting all customers who own an affected vehicle to have their vehicles inspected:

VIN range Abu Dhabi: 205 F 436012 until F 442920 = 4 vehicles 222 A 291968 until A 295747 = 36 vehicles
The VIN appears on the plate attached to the driver's door jamb and on a plate fastened to the top of the dashboard on the driver's side.
