Morning Fewbie Desert Drive - Welcoming Summer Convoy 2 - Qudra - Dubai - 10 May 2025

DRIVE DESCRIPTION :   Convoy 2 Lets welcome Summers ! Am sure when you look at the meeting time, you would have figured it out 
Even though the greater rainfall of the latest few years has caused an explosion of vegetation, which has transformed parts of Dubai's deserts into gardens, there is an area, unexpectedly close to the city and to one of its most visited desert attractions - the Love Lakes, that has remained pristine and almost completely clean of shrubs and grasses. We'll "discover" this dune field, with its white sand, and will criss-cross it from top to bottom.  - PLEASE JOIN ONLY IF YOU CAN BE AT MEETING POINT ON TIME, ANYONE NOT AT MEETING POINT AT 5.30am WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE DRIVE.

Level:  Fewbie and above (all levels)

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face masks, rubber gloves, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.

Approximate finish time: 8am

P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

RECOMMENDED OFF-ROAD GEAR:

• Tire deflator & Tire pressure gauge
• Compressor (MANDATORY)
• Walkie-talkie radio (MANDATORY)
• Off-road flag (MANDATORY)
• Shovel, Tow Rope & 2 Shackles
• First-aid kit
• Fire extinguisher.

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE

• This drive is limited to 10 cars only. RSVP will close on Friday - 12 PM.
• If the RSVP is full, you can add your name to the waitlist, once anyone drops, you will be moved to the RSVP list.
• RSVP will close a day prior to preparing a convoy list.
• Latecomers will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Members without RSVP will be returned - Without any exceptions.
• Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
• Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month.

Dear Desert Wanderers, @Shary, @Myrko, @Yurybel, @JAISROCK, @Zulfikhar Naiyar, @Mei ling, @Frans M and @JC_E, thank you all for being on time this morning and your patience as we waiting for mother nature to do her thing and lift the blanket of fog that cover Qudra desert. 

Once we finally got going we had a variety of all aspects of desert driving, we had some up and overs, some ridge cross overs and some ridge riding. we were able to do this given the height and composition of the dunes. We also encountered some damp top sand and dry sand underneath, this meant that the top surface was slippery and that once pushed aside we encountered so soft in place and hard in other places sand. this made for tricky conditions but each and every one of you handled this like masters. we had zero stucks and only a handful of refusals, so well done to you all impressive to say the least.

a big thank you to the two club members who stepped up today as second lead and sweep, @Frans M and @Zulfikhar Naiyar, you bothed played blinders today making my job so much easier so thank you both very much
