_luke_
DRIVE DESCRIPTION CANCELLED In the far east, on the 15th night of the 8th month of the Lunar Calendar, Tsukimi (月見) is celebrated. (Literally translated as Moon Watching) In previous era's aristocrats would gather, compose and recite poetry, and play music under the moonlight of the Harvest Moon, on which the moon is at its most full, and at its brightest for the year. People would tell stories of the 'Rabbit on the moon', pounding sticky rice into mochi with a large hammer for everyone to enjoy, a symbol of selflessness and sacrifice (This is very hard work for a moon-rabbit!). Children, and those young at heart can squint up at the moon this time of year and spot the Rabbit on the Moon. In our calendar, Tsukimi falls on Oct 6th in 2025 The drive plan is enjoy a gentle and serene drive through Nahel, whilst catching fleeting glimpses of the harvest moon on our way to our Tuskimi location, where we will setup our chairs, and spend an 30-45 minutes gazing at the moon, which will be at the highest in the sky around 23:30. (Bring your own sticky rice, or whatever your favourite moon watching snack is!) To those feeling particularly artistic, we would all love to hear your moon inspired poetry! From here we will take a quick exit back to the tarmac to inflate at 00:00 (midnight). * this is not a dune bashing drive.. we will be slowly moving through the dunes contemplating the beauty of the moonlit dunes. _luke_
Chasing moon shadows, yet beauty flees so quickly— when I open my palm I hold nothing but dry sand, slipping through the night.
_luke_
Our tracks in the sand are erased by desert winds; what remains behind is only the pale full moon, its cold and distant light. 2 1
