Heavy while reversing

Hey guys ... need a few tips ....my jeep cherokee 1996 goes a little heavy when i apply and run it in the reverse gear.

any idea why this would happen.

also ... i'm new to 4X4...therefore can you tell me what and hows the best way to apply four wheel in cherokee jeep as its a little complicated...it says 4WD Part time and 4WD full time ....whats the difference ?

In older vehicle to balance the rpm there is RPM sensor or optimizer ( i dont know the exact word). Its the same when u put on AC on idle it increases RPM by few hundred, and when u engage to D with AC on it drop the RPM to normal.

Check the sensor, that might be the culprit.

Regards to 4x4 in Cherokee is 2 wheel drive normally, and for engaging 4 wheel you need to push the lever down and move forward. Part time means H (high gear) for offroad drives. 4WD full time means (LO gear) for pulling, towing, recovery, steep climbs or heavy 4x4 applications.
