What is my Golf indicating with these symptoms

Recently i have noticed that my car is feeling a bit sluggish, bumpy on changing gear and also when i stop at the traffic and start to move it is taking a bit more time to move.

what is this indicating.

please help

Could you please be more specific on the model of your golf? Is it an automatic tranny? If yes, when was the last time your gear oil was replaced?

Thanks Veero, its 2003 model automatic and i just bought it 8 months back and have no cluie abt previous records. Its 145k kms at the moment. Hoping to get a quick reply before my car explodes Just Kidding, it isnt so serious.
