Thanks Gautam for a very insightful post. However can you please say all that in English so that normal non technical people like me can understand? Since i am not aware which is fully synthetic and which is mineral in 0W, 5W and 10W...Also nowhere in your post i see the mention of the 3 types of oils that i am asking people to vote for. Can you please emphasize on these 3 types only and explain accordingly.. Thanks.

Hi, Interesting topic, and in our hot climate in the UAE, I would go for a full synthetic oil every time. However, some synthetic formulations are not miscible with mineral oil (or other types of synthetic oil), so make sure the label says it is miscible with mineral oil. The problem involves the raw materials the synthetic oil is made from. As a general rule, synthetics that are condensed out of methane and carbon monoxide are safe to use, since they can be mixed with almost any other oil, but some newer formulations don't mix with anything, which means that you will end up with something that looks like Jello, which will destroy your engine. Synthetic oil has the advantage that all the molecules are exactly the same size, which means that in practice, all the valleys and peaks (known as asperities) in the wear surfaces in your engine hold more oil. Thus, your piston rings have a bigger supply of oil, and since all the molecules are the same size, the entire cylinder wall surface area receives up to twice the amount of lubrication a mineral oil can supply. In addition, synthetic oil is much more thermally stable than any mineral oil. All this means is the the viscosity of the oil, which is the oil's resisance to flow, is more uniform during the entire temperature range of the engine. I am not too sure about all the available brands of oil in the UAE, but any oil that carries both the ASE, and European Auto Makers' Association seal of approval will work- provided it states on the label that it can be mixed with other oils.

Guys, I too have a Range Rover 2004 Vogue and now experiencing the "Air suspension inactive " message on and often. Garrage guy checked with the Diagnostics and told me to change the left AES sensor but when I was going to buy the product my message disappeared but after a day it came back again. This morning it was down on one side. I usually do not adjust the height but run on road level. Online search suggest to buy RSW/EAS tool kit from Ebay which cost 120 US dollars which can reprogram this error? This is not the fault of the baloons itself but rather cold climate and water getting into the system as per some search results. Have you guys heard of this ? This happend to me in my P38 and got me a heart attack when the message came "Gear box failure" later I found out that it was due to the weak battery .... Range Rover gives nitghtmares.....but why do we love them again?

I had a Nissan for 3 years in the past and only once I faced the slow service, other than that if you are dropping off the car trhat is very instantly they will accept no waiting at all. I am talking about deira branch.

Nissan is existing since 70's in Dubai and almost everyone I know have ever owned a Nissan car in their lifetime. It's the most successful brand and you can never go wrong with it. You can close your eyes and buy it and enjoy. My only suggestion is to slightly upgrade from tiida to sunny or sentra if you can afford, as buying any brand start-up range is bit risky due to cheap price comes with cheap quality.

Nissan is not all good in Dubai, and some bad as well that you need to know before you buy. Just like every super successful brand it comes with little taken for granted attitude and slow in service from the nissan dealers in dubai. I had a nissan and just sold it as every service is a tedious task of loooong waiting to just give the car and come home. On the other hand toyota service center in dubai is like a breeze, where you can actually get the minor oil and filter service in 30-45 mins while you sip free coffee and read newspaper in their first floor lounge and keep an eye on your car from top. Total A+ service standard from Toyota in dubai. Nissan still has to catch up to that standard, as selling car only is not enough. Slight correction on Taqir estimate that Nissan and Mitsubishi parts are most expensive and Toyota and mazda are the cheapest and honda is in between. Overall Nissan is a good brand to drive in heat or cold here with extreme reliability and durability of Japanese brand off course. Go for it man.

Nissan is very strong and successful brand in Dubai just after Toyota which leads the undisputed no.1 place since forever. Just to answer your questions: Nissan cars survive extremely well in Dubai heat or in fact UAE heat as sometimes Abu Dhabi is hotter than Dubai.Nissan maintenance is very competitive and almost at the lowest level compared to all other Japanese brands. Only if you are not in rush, as you might need to spend few days with your friends or taxi in arranging few viewing, but trust me its worth it.

Last bit is best to keep Range happy (fingers crossed). Also get the battery tested for volt check as many times fake beeps happen due to voltage fluctuation from dying battery. My friend Range showed "Gearbox Failure" when battery was dying, so damn hilarious and surprising.

Coil springs comes in two flavor as well, hard ones for offroad purpose and soft ones for road comfort. Go with soft one and you will not feel any difference and get rid of all balloon, compressor, sensor issues forever. That was the first thing when I got the range for first and last time in my life as advised by very close friend who is Land rover fanatics for 3 generations in his family.
