  1. AC will be switched off on slightest overheating in almost any car. So as a first point of concern as summer months are coming and we started hitting 37-38 degrees already, this seems a usual behavior to kick in if Engine cooling is not optimum. Get the radiator coolant check, if its too old and rusty replace to new one. Dont use water as it increase the rusting chances, use proper green or better red coolant. Ask mechanic to check the viscose clutch fan is working or not, as when car slightly overheat this main radiator big fan (viscose fan) supposed to run faster to bring the car temperature down. I assume here when car hit above 120, load on engine is more and that in turn produce more heat due to weak engine cooling system and to reduce engine load car computer shuts off the AC rather than car getting overheat.

  2. Jeep forum here is a blessing to have full categorize break-up of all Jeep cars in the UAE. I like it and I love this Jeep Forum here, please don't take it wrong. I need ideas brainstorm to how to make this Jeep Forum busy even more, I am part of lot of off-road forum here in the UAE and people tend to discuss their Jeep problems, upgrades and restoration projects in full length there. Which in my eyes is sometimes irritating as it's an off-road forum and not Jeep forum. I like to understand what all features or new idea we can add here to attract those gazillion jeepers who break their jeeps every week and pick tons of Jeep Forum discussions in wrong place. JEEP FORUM (My idea list): This Jeep Forum with all Jeep brand forum here need to have QR code and short URL that we can circulate easily, and divert that traffic to where it belongs. Get some Jeep specialist and expert here, like good old member or moderator to answer basic to mid level Jeep expert queries for all Jeepers in UAE. Get some Jeep workshop to give discount to those Jeepers, as every off-road forum has one or two fix workshop behind their back to generate that level of regular jobs.

  3. This looks like one bad ass machine. It uses a 1000 Watt laser to strip oxides, paint, oil and grease to prepare metal surfaces for work. Apparently it can be used for nuclear decontamination too Much cleaner alternative to media blasting. Best get saving though, I've heard they're around $500k.

  4. You can actually try driving at night, before rad flush and coolant change just to be sure that the engine cooling system is the culprit. As in night currently it's under 30 degrees in Dubai and engine will get more cooled air in night to keep it cool at high speed above 120. If AC still trips off after 120 in night, then there could be something else involve than the engine cooling issue. May be AC fan, compressor or condenser needs some thorough professional check.

  5. @amitaj I think the reason second hand Toyotas are more expensive than other brands is because people know they are reliable and will spend a bit extra for that reliability. When you look at the old old cars around here (before 2000), 3 out of 4 will be Toyotas. Most other cars at that age end up on a scrap heap in Sharjah.

  6. For Pajero thermostat, go with GCC specs thermostat as it set to open at around 68-71 degrees and same has been engraved on the thermostat metal outer body. One that says above 78 - 82 is not GCC specs. These few degrees difference will make a big difference in keeping Pajero tad hotter in slow non-moving traffic in extreme summers or at high speed above 120 in day time. Is your Pajero AC cuts off after 120 in night temperature as well....?

  7. That's a very big money Toyota makes man, bigger than most of the fortune 500 companies. After seeing this I am more curious to know how much $ Toyota makes from UAE only.....? Even the guestimate is fine......! Apart from research and going local, Toyota is also a good car brand because they take care of their customers and emerge as a brand with a human value behind it and not just a brick wall. Toyota is the only brand I hear all the time doing millions and millions of recall car everywhere in every country. This shows that they realize their mistake and offer free replacement to its customer showing they are more honest car brand than many others. Have you ever heard Mazda, Peugeot, Porsche, BMW, Cadillac recalling their cars ever as much as Toyota recalls their cars....? Second best thing at least in the UAE about Toyota is their service, they have made this servicing so easy and fast that once you use Toyota in the UAE, you will hate rest of all car brand service center. In less than an hour you can get the minor service from Toyota dealer in the UAE. Many other snobbish car brand ask at least 2 days for leaving the car behind for one bloody oil change service. Toyota definitely has paved their way to this bigger number of profits with proper thinking and implementation. Having said, all of the above I still feel Toyota cars in the UAE are overpriced by at least 25%.

  8. These days you don't even need a scan tool, you just need a laptop and a lead which you can probably pick up for 50 Dirhams, maybe less, from one of the internet sites. There are loads of software available to buy cheap or rip from the torrent sites for free depending on what car you have, i.e. Consult 3 for Nissan, VCDS for VW/Audi vehicles, Planet for Peugeot vehicles, Google will tell you what the specific software for your vehicle is. Or, you can just get a piece of software like Delphi Diagnostics which is pretty comprehensive and will cover most vehicles. Then it's just a matter of installing the software and connecting your laptop to your car viz the OBD port and playing around with the software until you learn how it works. Don't worry, you can't break your car by reading/erasing fault codes but if your software has any programming options, I would recommend staying away from them until you learn properly how engine management systems work and how your software relates to them.
