  1. @Gaurav Recently a common question that popped in our heads when we were discussing the cleaning of the radiator before putting in new coolant was that how can dirt get in when the radiator is completely sealed and no outside elements can get in. I asked Naeem and he had a very good answer which I think strikes a cord. The raw form of coolant cannot be used in the radiator as it is very thick, so some mix of water is required, this water if distilled would reduce the problem greatly, but we cannot be sure what water is used in the mix. Generally in Dubai all water including branded water on the shelves have added solid in them, like calcium, minerals and you can read the list on any bottled water. These solids over time would settle at the bottom of the radiator, so it is not dust or sand which accumulates over time, but the solids from the water which is the problem. Hope this satisfies your curiosity.

  2. Thanks @ethan for reading and appreciating. I think Barry was the one to explain earlier that battery normally consists of acid which is not usable for anything else. However, the distilled water which most people used to add to the battery in the conventional ones is even good as drinking water. So yes you can use distilled water to mix with the raw coolant and is better any day than any Spring, Mineral or drinking water which already consists of solids. BTW, I have a RO purifier in my house and it takes away all the calcium, mineral and other additives in the water, this is good for our consumption and also cost less than the distilled water they sell off the shelf.

  3. Fantastic explanation and finding, although I never got this curiosity before but while reading first half it got me highly curious. So pouring the battery water in radiator is a better idea than masafi...? To not to clog up the radiator over time.

  4. Just to add to this, coolant is not the only important thing, always check the hoses that connect the radiator, the radiator itself and the condenser which is most cases is just under the radiator, top up the AC gas just to be sure. I do not want to advertise any oe company here, but most major service centers and car showrooms offer a free AC check up and discounted parts just before the start of summer. Take advantage of these special packages and you will save yourself from facing issues in mid summer heat.

  6. I hear your point rahim and totally agree too, but I just shared something worth of interest for car owners and mall goers. Hope it's a good start in right direction and slowly they will add more electric cars in most of the malls in Dubai. I still feel they should charge little bit like 5-10 dhs to cut down the 50% queuing and make it more useful for needy people who are really tired after whole run.

  7. Do they have the electric golf buggies in Dubai mall? I've seen them in battuta mall. More of those would be more useful than a car nobody will realistically get to use.

  8. Well I was going through this post. And I would like to write something here on personalcare in summers. This is my first post here. I will discuss some points on preparing yourselves for hot weather driving: Sunglasses: It’s really important to wear sunglasses in such a hot weather. That helps you to avoid direct sunlight contact as well. Try going for branded sun gasses that are generally meant for reflecting sun rays. Keep Water: Always keep water in your car, in case you will need it when you are stuck in the traffic and sun is at its highest peak. Avoid food: Avoid keeping any kind of food in your car in summers, because it leaves a strong smell afterwards. I have noticed this thing specially when I drop my lunch box back in the car during lunch time and go back to my desk. And after work, when I am preparing myself to go home, there is a smell of food always in the car. So avoid keeping food in summers in your cars. Cover yourself: If your window glass is not tinted, it’s better for you to cover yourself completely to avoid tan of the skin. Perfume: Always keep a perfume and air freshener in your car. If let’s say you are coming back to the car from your work, air freshener and perfume will help you inhale good smell that cuts the smell of heat. 6. Wear a suns cream: Wear a suns cream when you are sitting in the car. You may not feel the requirement, but the sun rays hits on your face directly even if you are sitting in the car. I personally take care of such things. It’s really important actually to maintain the same freshness all day in summers.

  9. Hot weather diving can be really tough sometimes, especially when it’s 50 degrees outside. Well when it comes to summer driving, there are two divisions: One is maintain your car and second is maintaining yourself. Preparing your car: It’s very crucial to prepare your car for the summer driving. Keep the following things in minds: Car Battery: Make sure that your car battery is working and charging properly. Sometimes because of too much heat, the battery becomes really hot and tends to lose all the charge and sometimes is unable to hold the charge. Tint: Make sure that your car windows are tinted at least to the minimum requirement. The transparent windows in summer can burn you sometimes because of the direct sunlight. Coolant: the most important thing in summer is AC in the car. So always maintain the coolant level in your car. Also, avoid AC condensation by vacuuming it regularly. Because if the AC stops working, only God knows how one can drive in summer. Covering your car: When you are going to work, cover the front and rear view window with the shade so that the interiors of the car is not affected by the sunlight. If you are going somewhere out for a vacation or something, cover your car with the car cover to avoid direct sunlight to the car. Cool freshener: When you are going back to work or home, you can feel the smell of heat in your car. So have a coolant freshener in the car that will help your car in cooling and will also give you good smell. Park in shade: Because the temperature is really high out there, so try to park your car in shade always. The direct sunlight also affects the color of your car. Sometimes it fades. So ignore such things and park in the shade.
