  4. Yes wheel spacers can be found as universal ones but these are crap as they don’t have a center hub so alignment might become an issue. Better to order the ones specific for XJ online. Maybe some of the Dubai off-road shops have some on the shelf. H&R is a very good brand but a bit pricey. I got 35mm spacers front and back with center hub second hand via my workshop where a guy ordered them specifically for Pajero but never collected them. When buying rims look at the ET value. This is the offset value.

  5. Go to the shop i sent the location below. His name is Sanjith. He is expert of European cars. Mostly German but i believe he can handle Land Rover also. 0585283007. He will give you the price first than he will do the job with your confirmation. His prices are more affordable when you compare with other European car mechanic shops. You can mention my name he knows me very well. https://goo.gl/maps/HpsUoRW7FYj1G3wi7

  7. Hello all, I own a 2011 V8 Land Rover LR4. I take her off the road two/three times a month and push her to "my" limits I have been having some issues with my acceleration, throttle response and steering since the last off-road drive I went. I took the car to a shop closer to DXB Terminal 3 and they found that my lower and fore arm bushes were cracked/ torn. They could not find any issues related to my acceleration/ throttle response problem. They also told me that my transmission has no issues and my timing belt was doing okay. I asked them to take a look at the spark plugs. Because since the start of my throttle response problem, I have a feeling that my spark plugs are not working well. Since the V8 under the hood does not leave much space in LR4s, taking a look at the spark plugs is no easy job. That's why the shop that I am dealing with decided to give me a price for changing them without even checking their condition. Car is still at the shop and I have just had a phone conversation with them about the cost of the repair. Please find the breakdown below: Spark plugs - 60 AED each (8x60=480AED) Lower arm bushes - 250 AED for each wheel (250x2=500AED) Fore arm bushes - 225 AED for each wheel (225x2=450AED) Labor cost - they were pretty shady while giving this number but they asked for 1700AED Even though the addition of all would be 3,150 AED, they asked 3,500 AED from me. I made a quick search over the web on the material costs and found out that they are overcharging me for the bushes (the first aliexpress link that I found was asking 11USD + shipping for each) I am writing here to hear from you on what you think about: The cause of my throttle response/ acceleration problem The cause of my poor steering issues The material/ labor prices that I received from the shop The proper course of action that I have to take (keeping in mind that I want to get the car fixed before next Carnity drive ) I would also be glad if you could share any shop names here, if you think that they might fix my problems for a better price. Cheers, M

  8. Hi, For my XJ which has a 3 inch lift, I am looking to widen the stance a bit (maximum an inch on either side) just to lower the overall center of gravity. The options that I have read up are 1) wheel spacers or 2) by reducing the back spacing of the rim. I am currently running 15 inch stock steel rims with back spacing of 5.25 inch. Rim width is 7 inch. I understand that with spacers its important to get a good brand and not from the Iranian shop. If I go that route, I will order them from the US. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

  9. My first cars were all second hand Germans. Still young and wanted to be cool, all my money went into these money pits. But no responsibility yet, so I could justify it. Then I decided to change my career and went back to study again. My Golf mk3 TDI gave it up and I needed something to transport myself. I couldn’t afford a car so I continued on my Honda CB. (Also in Dutch Winter). The first car I bought then, was a Daihatsu Cuore 3cylinder. Small ugly car, but it did the job. When I had to do some maintenance one day, came the moment of realization of the price difference to maintain. After my Daihatsu I “upgraded” myself with a Honda civic. Till today still best and cheapest car I’ve owned. This made me stick to the Asian brands.

  10. I got the short end of the stick. A Land Rover made from BMW bits and bobs. So I'm actually even above number 1 Honestly BMW have some of the shittiest overcomplicated engineering I've seen. Next time round I wouldn't touch anything that BMW even looked at. Up to the mid to late 90s Mercedes was pretty solid and reliable. Guess that all went down the shitter later on
