Having been out of the sand for most of summer, I was eagerly looking around for a drive that would ยซ recalibrate ยซ my senses and skills, and whatโs better for that than a drive with @Srikumar ๐ . While I do indeed prefer lower level drives as for me I need something ยซ slow ยป on the weekend to relax after a grueling work week, I have to admit that this kind of drive somewhat relaxed me as well. Of course i was sitting on the edge of my seat, but you really have 0 time to think of anything else than revving your ride and trying to follow that mean green XJ machine ๐ Brilliant driving by all of you, and i was glad to see the camaraderie amongst all of you; cheering each other on and having each otherโs back. Thatโs what I love seeing in these kinds of drives ! Towards the end of the drive it was getting extremely hot, and after inflating i quickly got on the road, feeling overheated and lightheaded. Sorry for not staying back for a chat as I usually do. Really looking forward to more of this the coming winter.. See you all in the sand soon !!13 points

@Srikumar great drive as usual, took me some time to get my breath back once i reached home and im sure it was the same for others. We more than made up for the lost time in the beginning due to fog. with steep climbs, bowls and criss-crossing ridges this had everything we could ask for. so glad to have finally met @Frederic after almost 10 months with carnity, nice chatting with you and thank you for being the 2L. @Vaibhav @Looper @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @Anoop Nair im sorrry the wranglers had a tough day today, maybe you guys need to think of upping your game a bit, for it was only @Vaibhav's lending of compressor to @Zedwhich provided some face saving ๐๐. Glad to see you all nevertheless & @Looper thanks for the sweep. @Simon Dawood @Amr Aydin @Alexanderrr great job right at the front, i can imagine how challenging it would be to keep up with Sri & fredie. @Zed thanks for clearing all the bushes infront of me ๐ @Waqas Parvez great driving buddy, i know some ppl (or atleast 1) who would be envying what you can do in that prado ๐. Will wait for you to share some of those video shots from your insta. @Tom B good to see you as usual man. Good luck on the liwa trip, will definitely look forward to hearing back from you. @Gaurav Soni i hope you made it back safely and not too much trouble with the car. Was wonderful chatting to you all in the morning while we waited for the fog to clear up, hopefully more such opportunities coming up this season. See you all soon.11 points

By the end of the day, after all the trouble of waking up early, traveling slowly due to fog, and patiently waiting for fog to clear, we all had the biggest smiles on our faces. I had the best drive of my life thanks to @Srikumar, who led the convoy with enthusiasm and showed how much he loves what he does. His eyes used to light up when he saw a large dune, and he would root and say, "Floor it guys!" ๐ We also had amazing support of @Frederic as SL and @Looper at the back, its was great catching up with all early morning and chit-chating @Gaurav Soni i hope your car gets fixed quick and its not again one of yours MAF sensors ๐ @Vaibhav at the back and @ASAD. i was just enjoying my drive as i trust these guyz @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler you drove beautifully pushing your rubicon to the limits excellent line and control displayed well done @Alexanderrr @Simon Dawood excellent job keep up to frederic you guyz really pushed your Pajero to the limits @Amr Aydin only one with comes in my mind when see you drive, you are a Smooth operator ๐ @Zed yes i did manage to get back home in time to ensure that i enjoy the rest of the weekend ๐,its was really fun driving with you and hear that V8 roaring @Anoop Nair @Tom B once again it was fun driving with you big guyz.8 points

I have been doing some small research after noticing the performance specs differences on the following 4.0 L Toyota models below as i was trying to understand why some are rated at 230hp while others were showing 260-270 hp in their datasheets. - Toyota Prado / Landcruiser: Single VVT-i till 2009, Dual VVT-i was implemented on the new model of 2010 onwards. - Toyota FJ Cruiser: Single VVT-i till 2009, Dual VVT-i was implemented on the new model of 2010 onwards. - Toyota Hilux 4.0 (Adventure Series): No 4.0 model available until 2021, until Adventure Series came with 4.0 V6 Single VVT-i - Toyota Fortuner: Single VVT-i only. I noticed prior to 2010, the FJ cruiser had a Single VVT-i setup, (variable valve technology on the intake only), while from 2010 onwards the FJ received Dual VVT-i technology (variable valve technology on exhaust side as well). This update resulted in about 21hp more power, but on the other hand, the max power is sitting on a higher rpm and the torque is a bit less. To my surprise i have noticed the current 4.0 Fortuner and Hilux Adventure models are still showing the single VVT-i specs, which makes me suspect they are doing this to keep the production cost down. Adding to the confusion, the Landcruiser 70 Series 4.0 V6 even has lower output. 228 HP / 360 Nm. Of course in real life situations and performing in the desert we need to look at many other things, but i wanted to put this article here to get a better understanding on the differences and to advice if you are planning to buy an FJ secondhand, it would make sense to go for the 2010 model and upwards. 1GR-FE_Engine[1].pdf7 points

Thank you @Hisham Masaad for the great drive on Saturday, it was challenging but fun, the only marshal who increases the adrenaline for drivers to release their work pressures, and helps them to spend a calm weekend, and many thanks to @Ranjan Das and @Sunil Mathew for the great support, and see you next week for another drive Inshalah. โ๏ธ5 points

Drives at Sweihan means earlier than usual alarms times and long drives to the meeting point. But the allure of the tall dunes deflects any hesitation to join these drives. Thank you @Vanessa8580 for a wonderful drive and @Davie Chase + @Zed for great support. @Warren Flay you did an excellent job in the second lead. @Jessica Lambert good to see you after the summer vacation and congratulations on your new ride. @Zulfikhar Naiyar we last drove in Tawi Nazwa and since then I can see a lot of improvement in your driving. You drove confidently and had good control in the dunes. @Paul Zietsman hope you are able to fix the foot board on your car easily. Being a beast of a car and having a long wheelbase, it can be challenging, but you have shown that it can be done nevertheless. See you all soon back in where we belong - somewhere in the desert. PS: added some pics in the gallery.5 points

@Gaurav It was great meeting and learning from you yesterday! It was just amazing to see you go EVERYWHERE in the dunes with your Pajero. I never thought a pajero could be driven the way you were driving it. ๐ I hope to get more chances to do more drives with you a legend like in the future!! @munkybizness & Fabian, It was a pleasure to meet you guys and learn from your experience! Thanks for looking out for newbies like us. I don't know the other members' usernames, but it was fun meeting everyone and getting a feel for the team-spirit that Carnity promotes! Hope to see you guys in the dunes again some time. Have a good one!!3 points

@JeromeFJ- That was an amazing track. It was my first time to be with you while you led the drive @Mike. 2nd lead of the game very well executed, @Benjamin, @Zubair In spite of the fact that it was your first fewbie drive, you guys drove excellent. @Jaro Tuzinsky Although the stuck workout was challenging, but your self-recovery was greatly appreciated. @Brett Eicher, It is a pleasure to see a classic Cherokee and an excellent driven by you @Jonny90, been with you in your earlier drives, u should have enjoyed this drive too. @Joji varghese Since I've been with you for more than 50 drives, I don't know what to say. It shows how much experience and control you have when driving. @Brette, It was really long to see you in desert, no words on the drive, but I'm glad to see you in Beard. New Look Suits you!!!3 points

Congratulations @M.Seidam for reaching the Marshal level with Carnity Offroad Club. Seidam joined Carnity in mid-2020 with his Jeep Grand Cherokee and great enthusiasm for off-roading. Later it got upgraded to Xterra to continue the passion and excitement to conquer every dune. With a very inquisitive nature, Seidam has learned and mastered many skills very quickly and always supported everyone. Exploring new areas and pushing new boundaries made him a seasoned off-roader with good knowledge and experience. With a prudent and cautious approach, he very well established his leading skills and tasteful drives to position himself as an integral part of the carnity family. MARSHAL is one of the most prestigious and sought-after titles that comes after a lot of hard work, patience, tolerance, and dedication. Just like all the levels in Carnity offroad club is "NOT" only based on driving skills but instead based on the combination of your personality + intelligence + team spirit + adventure. This Marshal title is an epitome for all levels in the offroad grading structure. So if anyone wants to grow, they can set any of Carnity Offroad Club Marshal as a PERFECT example for not only following the driving skills and style but also observing their behavior, teamwork, presence of mind, calculative approach, patience and tolerance to teach and support new offroaders.2 points
