@Hisham Masaad thanks for a superb drive today morning, great way to spend a Sunday morning with such like minded people and in such great company. Superb second lead from @Theo09 listening and responding well to Hishams instructions making slight alterations to the route to keep the convoy flowing well. The middle order team drove fantastically well allowing the convoy to flow seamlessly with only a couple of refusals and no real stucks to talk about it, great job guys @Issam Atra @Vishnu Ramankutty @Haneef Thayyil @DTG @Arun Menon @Pavel Pashkovskiy @Amir Amiri our sweep for the day @Arda Yagcioglu did an amazing job, very informative which allowed us to keep the convoy on track and moving forward. Last minute issue with @Arun Menon Xterra which invoked great team work from @Hisham Masaad and @Pavel Pashkovskiy to reconnect the trans hose that had come off allowing the fluid to escape. We topped her up with the little trans fluid that we had amongst us, but to no avail. so then it was all literally all hands on deck (car) to pull, push and shove the xterra out of the soft and onto the hard, we then had a short tow onward to the exit and homeward bound, the teamwork is what makes carnity special and never ceases to amaze me, well done to all and thank you to all for a job well done. @Arun Menon please let us know how you get on with our car once you have the diagnosis etc. See you all in the sand again very soon5 points

Thank @Davie Chase for the report, saving my time, and go direct to thank you first of all, for supporting the drive and for the effort to get the car of @Arun Menon out safely. Margham has changed, more bushes, similar to other areas, and very much smaller dunes, with soft sand in some areas. Smaller as well, after building the fence around the new petroleum activities, but still nice and good enough for new off-roaders to practice and enjoy. Different to many NB drives, we did not have much refusals and stucks, great NB drivers. Weather temperature was really nice, it is only the sandy wind was not allowing to enjoy the low temperature. All did great job, till unfortunate incident of the xterra of @Arun Menon, which i am hoping will be fixed fast and less cost. @Issam Atra @Vishnu Ramankuttyamazing AN members, you both did very well as a first drive for you, keep it up. @Haneef Thayyil @DTG @Pavel Pashkovskiy @Amir Amiriglad to meet you again, every thing was going smooth. Hope you checked the tyre @Haneef Thayyil and all good to go for the next drive. Many thanks @Pavel Pashkovskiy for the coffee as usual. Congratulations @Amir Amiri for the new car, was a smart move to repalce with FJ. I am sure you are feeling the difference now. Big thanks for @Theo09 and @Arda Yagcioglu for being greet SL and SW. Look forward to see you again.3 points

@M.Seidam thank you for an amazing night drive as always thoroughly enjoyed myself. Fantastic flowing drive with great lines. @Benjamin superb second lead listening to and acting on Docs instructions keeping the rest of the convoy safe and sound, well done mate. @Simon D your CF presence as always brings a mastery to the middle of the convoy, attending to the few refusals and stucks that we encountered great job as usual mate. The rest of the convoy @Thejas Uthran @Gautam Banka @Glenn W @Harshal @Hugo @topgear @Jaro Tuzinskydrove extremely well making the support teams jobs so much easier, great to see some old and new faces out in the desert, great drive, great company and an abundance of fun, what else do you need on a Friday night :):) hope to see you all in the sand again soon2 points

100% You must have daily and desert vehicles separate. Because it's absolutely different requirements. You need maximum comfort on daily drive and maximum roughness in the desert. There is no car with optimal balance for both of it.2 points

Hi All, I recently moved to the UAE and haven't yet bought a daily car. (For 2 people + dog). I was about to buy a mini suv then then..... .... I experienced my first desert drive this week as a passenger and I want to learn to drive the dunes! As such, I am now unsure whether I should buy one car that will be multi-purpose, or I should continue to buy my daily, but then buyer a cheaper off road car. My budget for a daily is around 300k and I like speed and power so I have a good amount to spend, but I am conscious that the more expensive the car, the more expensive it will be to repair if I damage it on the dunes! So, do I buy a daily car for 200-250k and then a second vehicle for the dunes, or just buy one car that does all Thanks! Controlz1 point

@controlz A happy and proud rubicon (stock No mods) owner since Dec 2021😅, and thats my only car, for both off road and on road. 4DR, for 3 ppl, self, spouse and One future offroader who is currently 12 yrs old😂! 4Dr - Bcos its my daily use car too, helps me with storage during winter campings too. Been with club since I became the owner and no looking back since then. If you believe desert is going to be your second home, I would not hesitate to recommend you to go for rubicon, as regards your second car, for on road, you need to consider daily usage, if its 20-25 mins one way commute perhaps one rubicon should work, else you might want to think of alternative. But then over a period you will get used to it and wont like getting into other car😅! I now dont feel like having one more for my on road.1 point

Ok, seems you are not aware about main disadvantage of Rubicon, this is why i asked first, before give my opinion and advice. Main weak point of Rubicon in transfer case ratio. This car was designed for rock crawling, mountains and mud, but not for desert speedy drive and dunes climbing. Simply speaking Sport and Sahara much faster in the desert than Rubicon. Don't want to overload you here with technical details, from now on you can Googled and read more about it. At the beginning of your offroad adventure you will not feel much difference due to basic level of the drives you will be joining, but after some time you will regret about your choice, because you will not be able to "fly" over the dunes same like other Jeeps. 98% of all offroad vehicles in the region doesn't have sway bar disconnect system and difflocks. It's almost useless on sand, and designed for mountains and muds. My personal suggestion 2dr Sport. You main choice need to be between JL and JK. If you are looking for the car model somewhere 2018, i suggest to go for JK. Because 2018 was last manufacturing year for JK and it was near best of the best option, and 2018 was first year of manufacturing of JL, and like everything just released that cars had lot of issues. Why Sport? Because technically it's same car as Sahara, just without luxerious things, which you don't need at all in the desert. You will be always thinking to remove roof and doors or trying to keep leather seats safe, why you need this? Go unlimited.1 point

I daily drive my gladiator and love it, and it’s set up for desert driving, but yeah a daily and an off roader is great! Although if I was spending 300+ now I might go for a 700 HP TRX 😎 but that’s just me! I would be mindful if you plan to modify the jeep, it’s expensive and addictive lol so might eat in to that budget in my opinion a rubicon is not worth it for desert driving, sway bar disconnect you will never use and lockers hardly ever, I don’t have lockers and have never needed them! if your going top of the line jeep get a sand runner! It’s built for sand and is high spec1 point

As a owner of 2 Jeeps need to clarify for you something important about Rubicon specifically. But before that, may i ask why you thinking about Rubicon trim? Any reason for that? 2 or 4 dr? Of course 2 dr. In upcoming winter you will remove roof and doors and run it like a buggy. Kind of experience you never get with any other car.1 point
