Dear Desert Wanderers @Prithvi Raj, @Jon L, @Martin Schwaiger, @Giacomo, @J-P L, @Zubail, @Gary F, @Rajath Shetty, @Pramod B, @Nicolò, @Adam Black, @Jeevan Koshy and @Hani crest king. Firstly, thank you all for being on time and ready to go yesterday and being attentive during the briefing which we managed to get through in somewhat of a shaded area in Lisalli, however, it was still very hot. We started the drive with the car temp gauge reading a whopping 48 degrees, probably one of the hottest starts to a drive I have seen to be fair. I was expecting a few issues due to the heat, however, we had very few with just a couple of stops for water spraying on radiators and transmission coolers. We started off in more of a scenic drive route but managed to end with a more normalized drive. having only one stuck and a handful of refusals. This was due to the fact that you all drove fantastically throughout he drive. we had less refusals in the latter stages as we got to grips with the tire pressures and your confidence grew, so well done to all. Great S/L by @Prithvi Raj smoothing the lines for the convoy to follow, great job well done. Our sweep @Hani crest king, well what can we say, amazing job my friend, calm and informative as well as knowledgeable, it has been a pleasure to watch you grow, I would say watch this space for a future leader. My C/F for the drive was @Gary F always a comfort to have you in the convoy and you managed the middle with ease and expertise, keeping everyone calm and handling the few refusals we had with expertise and a calming manner with clear and concise instructions, this made a great learning experience for all and was a pleasure to witness. We ended the drive with my first pop out that refused to go over the bead no matter what we tried. and ended up with having to change for the spare, this took a lot longer than we anticipated so thank you all for your patience. Just to finish @Gary F tried to take @Hani crest king's title by a cresting literally 30 meters from the exit track. great self recovery, and just goes to show it can happen to the best of us. Great drive, great team work, great afternoon out, thank you all for making it an enjoyable afternoon, even though it was a oven out there Have a fantastic rest of your weekend7 points

Superb drive today gents and if i have one take from today is the essence of carnity spirit. A true community proud to be part off with every single member and especially marshals and leaders walking the talk where all is one team, no one is left behind with safety coming first. @Davie Chase @Gary F admire your way of sharing knowledge, patience and unselfish way of giving from your time to support us with a good time. thank you and god bless. I still owe you a crest that @Gary F almost handed us (i’m also known to be contagious). Driving in the desert will always be a constant learning curve for all of us. Also that tire you had is your spare tire great drive4 points

Was great to be on that drive today with all of you. @DP1011 since it was my first drive with you i had to show you first hand what the name really stands for and i have that contagious effect. Was a great mix of technical and fun. Was a heavy fun sandy day with the second drive as well. @Luke K P always a peace of mind having you in the convoy with your experience and armageddon readiness. @Talal H the fun just started you should beat the heat great second fewbie drive from you and @ChrisW4 points

Thank you @DP1011 for a great season finalè (for me) drive. @Davie Chase really prepped me last week for Faya so this week was a breeze. Thanks @Aser for the duct tape! But no thanks for ruining my paint. 😂😡 but yeah "do you want your bumper or your paint" No thanks for @Luke K P for making me want a Ranger Raptor so bad now. Perfect product out of the box. Great follow by @Nitish Sharma through some sketchy drops. Shoutout to @Hani crest king for getting a pop out on a 6 am drive and still going to a 2:30 pm drive on the same day! Gunning to be crew rank in the fastest way possible. @ChrisW was a great immediate lead making everything look effortless in his beast of a Jeep. And huge props to @Alexanderrr and @Sandeep Nayar for the smooth operations.3 points

With too many cars in the driveway, and the plans to eventually start saving up to buy some property (unless i live in my car), we decided to sell our trusty Nissan Patrol Safari. I purchased it only last year, from a colleague who had it for 7 months and never took it off-roading. The owner before him was registered as a commercial owner and had it for 8 months only, this commercial owner sold it to Al Futtaim Auto Mall and that's where my colleague bought it from. Until i purchased it, it had zero off-roading history. The people who know me, know that i am very particular about my cars and how i maintain them. This car got all the needed maintenance from independent 4x4 garages in Dubai who know what they are doing. Only last week i completed the 80,000km as well. All invoices are available. I kept the car mostly stock and removed the front off-road lights and cold air intake to sell the car like i got it from my colleague. Here are the details: 79,500 km (80,000km service completed) Michelin LTX AT Tyres 2023 Upgraded stereo (Super Safari Head Unit with reverse camera and steering controls). Front bash plate 10mm Underbody rustproofed and front axle reinforced Upgraded Steering damper (Icon). Fully serviced and accident free European expat owned, not abused or modified. Viewings possible in Damac Hills 2- Dubai Vehicle Status report in attachment. ASKING PRICE: 140,000AED, slightly negotiable for the person who makes an effort to come a have a look at it. CONTACT DETAILS: 056 504 26 32 - Send me a Whatsapp Vehicle-Status-Report.pdf2 points

Thank you so much @Davie Chase and @Gary F for such an awesome drive today, we had really enjoyed it, especially the last one hour drive was incredible until at end I had my tire pop out. Thank you @Davie Chase and @Gary F for your immediate attention and patience to get it fixed. I thank you the team who were truly a helping hand. And yes @Davie Chase I will make sure that I get the spare tire 😊 However this was a good learning experience for me and the team as well 😊 Have a great weekend and see you all on the sand soon2 points

Good luck Fredy, with whatever works for you, but truly sad to see this beast on sale. You have changed my perception of what all you can achieve with this LWB beast in sand with right set of skills instead of just brute force. It really suit your style, hope for more badrol soon in future, someday.1 point

I dont think that's a fair conclusion tho... you're asking in a Carnity Forum but applying it elsewhere. Carnity Intermediate is not the same as other club's intermediate or experts. So what works here may not apply elsewhere, and it all depends on the car. Granted, you're asking for Jeep Wrangler, but when you're leading a drive, you get a sense of what works for the whole convoy, and the Seniors of Carnity have given that input by suggesting 4Hi. This I concur, all my 100 drives with Carnity I don't see a need to go 4Lo except to self-recover. Once when driving with friends outside this club, we did notice my friend's Jimny was struggling in certain climbs we're doing, so I asked his permission to try out his car and him in passenger chair. After various trials we find that the Jimny performs well in climbing with 4Lo instead of 4Hi, and his Jimny was a manual.... thus we have a combo where some ppl drove in 4Hi and some had to go 4Lo, whatever works for that individual driver... So all these 4Lo vs 4Hi just depend on the car and the kind of drives, no one formula for all kinds of drives and for all clubs everywhere... Jimny changing to 4Lo to get out of bowl1 point

😂😂 Oh man - we should have stayed on the sand!1 point

That was really good fun - some nice technical practice, a few good ridges, and some (mis)adventures to learn from. Thank you @DP1011 for leading, and @Alexanderrr for giving me some good tracks to follow! Great support from @Luke K P and @Hani crest king too - thank you. I was very impressed with the on-the-drive coaching you all gave. I think the main takeaways for me were a reminder in the fundamentals of momentum driving on technical dunes (especially given the soft sand), and consistently applying the basics on ridge crossings (particularly being stable on the ridge before manoeuvring onward). It was also such a good drive that the AD police sent me a nice picture to remember it by… 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️1 point

What a lovely drive! Thanks @DP1011 for guiding us in and out safely! We started on time after our briefing and basically just headed due east. A couple of early refusals to @Luke K P @nithish468 @Hani crest king and we started getting some good momentum towards the fox burrows and animal graveyard. We stopped off for a break of chai and croissants here before lowering tyre pressure and heading into the technicals. A text book cresting from our fearless leader allowed for some good V-channel digging practice and explanations on how to recover easily from this position. Next we had a double whammy of a bumper squish for @Talal H and pop-out for @Hani crest king After some reinflation and @Aser ducktapping the bumper back we made our way to the exit. Excellent driving from everyone, it was all pretty smooth and look forward to driving with you again soon. Enjoy your weekend.1 point

@Josh S i think this has been answered before, I hope you're reading this and not skipping it 1. If any of your experienced friend or marshal in J.N. has Rubicon, they will have already swapped their transfer case from 4:1 ratio to the JL 2.7 ratio so they can drive Rubicon in 4Lo. Refer to table at end of post below. The higher the number, the higher the torque BUT less speed. The lesser the number the lower the torque but more speed. As mentioned in previous post, Santoso has changed his Rubicon transfer case, and though you see him as 50 drives only, he's a Senior (1 level below Marshal) in UAEO***. Complete Table of Calculated Drive Ratios between Rubicon 4:1 and JL 2.7 is at the end of this post, cos I have other solutions too and didn't want you to skip the maths 2. Another option: Grind your camshaft so it will change your torque & speed profile at higher rpm. This would increase your rev limit so driving 5000rpm feels like factory 3500rpm. 3. Another option: talk to a tuner and see if they can program the computer differently. Am not familiar with the Pentastar engine, but let's say if any of the ratio is hardcoded somewhere, you can change the constant of 4 multiplier to 2.7 multiplier electronically without mechanically changing stuff. 4. Stay incumbent in status quo: clubs like J.N. would put you last before sweeper so as not to slow down the experienced drivers in front TABLE of JL 2.7:1 Transfer Case vs Rubicon 4:1 Transfer Case Now because 4Lo is a gear reduction system, basically driving in 4Lo reduces your max speed, and the reduction is done via the 4Lo ratio, Rubicon Max Speed of 50km/h in 4Lo is due to Max Speed in 4Hi divide by 4: And here's a complete table of calculated drive ratios. Yellow means when Rubicon is driving 4Hi 1st Gear, it's equivalent to JL 4Lo 3rd Gear >> this is why JL peeps drive in 4Lo cos they have more "variations" before they hit cruising speed at 4Lo 8th Gear. Rubicon ideal sand gear is 4Lo 6th gear, but due to gear reduction max speed is limited to 50km/h. Only way to drive faster in 4Lo is to change transfer case to JL version. Cheers, Z.1 point
