  1. We are thrilled to announce the creation of Team Dune Navigators We’re gearing up for the epic Desert Champions Trophy with @Luke K P, @Aser and @Hugo, and we’re on the lookout for our final piece of the puzzle—a fearless fifth member to join our daring sandy odyssey ! Our team is built with experienced drivers ready to raise the Carnity flag higher than a mirage on a hot day. With navigation skills sharper than a cactus spine, resilience tougher than desert rocks, and driving skills that could impress even the most skeptical camels, we’re ready to tackle anything the desert throws our way. And let’s not forget—laughter is the fuel that keeps our engines running! We believe that a good mood and a dash of humour are part of every great adventure. So, if you’re up for a challenge and have the driving skills to match your enthusiasm (and a car that won’t give up at the first sight of a dune), we want YOU on our team! Ready to participate in an unforgettable sand adventure and share some laughs? Click the link below or send me a message for more details. Let’s conquer the desert together!

  5. Thank you, @Zubail! Sad to let go of the classic (old!) Jeep JK, but really looking forward to seeing what this can do. And I love the colour! Might be an American car but the colour name feels fittingly British… 😂

  6. @Luke K P @Jose Luis Campos @Steve Farmer @Yurybel @Mark B @Abhishek Chikara @Arvindraj @Gilberto @Jeevan Koshy @JohanE @ChrisW Thank you for signing-up for the drive tomorrow. Please check your route to reach the meeting point. Coming from Nahel on the E95, about 300m before the final location, you will see a road to your right, with a sign "...Winter Camp..." Take that road. It is closed by a fence. Reach slowly to the fence, it will open by itself. Then continue until you see the other cars. If there is fog on the route, take your time and drive safely, we will wait for you. Don't forget to use your wipers frequently to clear your view. I will indicate the convoy order and the radio channel by the end of the afternoon, stay tuned !

  13. When I exporting from Garmin Explore, first I creat in Garmin collection, where I add all waypoints and track, giving the name onwant, and then share the collection, so it's imported in gaia as 1 folder with same name, inside which is track gpx and waypoints

  14. You can make separate folders like TRACKS, ROUTES, WAYPOINTS for example and move everything in each folder. Then you can export each folder. GaiaGPS is horrible for these things. I moved most of my stuff to Caltopo nowadays for archiving and managing routes and tracks.

  19. @GauravSoni Apologies mate - I will need to remove myself from this drive. Our office has signed up for a competition this weekend against other companies couple of weeks ago, and this event slipped through the cracks. I understand that this will most probably mean that the drive will be cancelled; @Mahesh_ @Mahmoud Taha please accept my apologies for being the bearer of bad news today. Sorry.

  20. @Steve Farmer, @Jose Luis Campos, @Yurybel, please take the time to watch the video attached on top of this chat, if you have not done it yet, it is very useful information for driving in the sand. Please take the time also to program your radio with the 10 Carnity frequencies. The post below contains guidelines and useful information related to radio communications. Of course, this is valid for other participants to the drive, if you have not yet done so.

  23. 4H Auto is capable of doing almost everything you want most of the time. To put in numbers you can practically drive your Wrangler in 4H Auto up to 90-95% of the time. You only need 4H Part-time (which means full-time, as Ben mentioned) in tricky terrain, where onboard computers fail (very rare) to do the required power split among the front and rear wheels, so you shift to part-time to have 50:50 power split to negotiate tricky terrains - like soft sand, a tricky slow and fast climb which require split-second change of power. We have many leads in Carnity driving and leading drives in 4H Auto, and only switch to part-time when needed. 4H Part time should be used as a trump card, similar to 4Lo so that you have something to fall back on when you need it. Most clubs even advise ppl to drive in LO gear for various reasons: Too lazy to get newbies stuck and recover and teach the right features, instead tell them to put on LO gear and let them blast all the way to glory. Backed by the garage, so the sooner you break the car in LO gear, the better it is for their business. In an ideal world of off-roading you and all other 4x4s should use a car based on the below order in sand: 4H Auto + D 4H Auto + tiptronic (manual selection of 1st or 2nd gear) 4H Part time + tiptronic (manual selection of 1st or 2nd gear) 4Lo + tiptronic (only for self-recovery and recovering others) This way you will learn your car and car will learn your driving style and also you have options to switch when you enter serious terrain or get stuck so you have room to shift to LO gear.
