Dear Desert wanders, @Arvindraj, @Carl Stanley, @Jessica Lambert, @Gilberto, @essam ibrahim, @Abhishek Chikara, @Yurybel, @Mehmet Volga, @Emanuel, @Benje_Junior, @Gary F, @Glenn W, @Talal H, @JohanE, and @Dan S firstly thank you all for being on time on this chilly (8 degrees brrrrrrr) Saturday morning, this made the briefing and departure also on time which always gives us more time to play in the sand. We did encountered a few minor refusals in the first part of the drive, which were all handled expertly by our team of 4 support members @Emanuel, @Gary F, @Benje_Junior and @Mehmet Volga. The terrain was a tad tricky in places with either a hard corrugated top layer and soft underneath or vis versa and very soft on top and hard underneath, this mix was due to the rain showers the day before. However, you guys all drove amazingly well and coped with all that we could throw at you. I would like to thank you all for your patience as we dealt with the two pop offs and the one wheel change that we had to perform along with a couple of stucks that we had to unstick :):) Brilliant Second lead from @Jessica Lambert, lines were perfect, comms were spot on warning the drivers behind of potential hazards as they arrive, and moving left and right at a minutes notice when i got the lines wrong. great Job Jessica. And you got to see a fox at the rock formation break which i have renamed foxes lair on my GPS. Fantastic support as already mentioned from our 3 center forwards @Emanuel, @Benje_Junior, @Gary F and our sweep @Mehmet Volga, great job guys could not have done it without you as such a great team spirit between you all to get the issues squared away quickly and easily. Some pics in the gallery A little Relive video for those that would like to re-live the experience Fewbie Jan 4 Fayah on Relive! https://www.relive.cc/view/vYvr1pN4ALq Some stats for those that like a good stat Have a great rest of your weekend and hope to see you in the sand again very soon.4 points

Dear Desertnauts, let's get ready for tomorrow's AM drive. It will be a rather, if not exclusively, technical drive, from start to finish. The first segment, from Lisaili's second entry point to Murqab will be new to me, except for a recce drive I did there a few years back. I remember a rather technical terrain, which will eventually open up to a couple of sabkhas close to Murqab. From here the second technical segment will begin, leading us toward the Solar Tower (AKA the infamous "Chimney"). After we'll reach the Eye of Sauron we'll head north-west, to reach Solar Park, through an initially technical area, which will open up into longer ranges of dunes close to our planned exit. As with every technical drive, our driving skills and control of our cars will be challenged the most, requiring a lot of steering to navigate the crests and ridges, as well as a careful management of our engine power, with brief bursts of acceleration followed and preceded by the use of our brakes and steering. The convoy order is rather long for a technical drive (which increases its complexity), and will be the following: @Andrew John Melvill in Second Lead @Frederic118 at #3 @J-P L at #4 @Jose Luis Campos at #5 @Aser at #6 @Rob S at the Center @Guido Ferriani at #8 @Jeandre Bezuidenhout at #9 @Ben Lee at #10 @Luke K P at First Sweep and @Hani crest king as Second Sweep The order has been arranged to have a lower ranked member always follow a higher ranked driver, with the exception of the Support Team. This is in the hope of giving each Fewbie a mini tutoring session by the higher rank members. Enjoy your Saturday evening, and see you tomorrow, ready to leave as close to 8:00 am as possible.3 points

Thanks again for a fun morning out @Looper - it’s been a while since I’ve driven on more technical dunes and this type of sand. It was both fun with the well paced sections towards the start, and a good test of skills with the soft sections, especially with the progressive churning of the sand! See below a couple of snaps…firstly of the leader showing the way, and then the much more rare sight of the three way towing… 😂3 points

This video took some creative approach while editing as I have applied some effects that needed machine learning for better optical flow of the video files and though the video is just 11 min long the cache took more than 2 TB of fast SSD space - that I did not have. Please like and subscribe on YouTube.2 points

I've been using https://fitcamx.com/, which is integrated into an OEM part for replacement. The concept is impressive, as the dashcam is discreetly positioned behind the central mirror; however, the app and technology stack leaves much to be desired. It's primarily focused on security, utilizing a DVD Blu-ray format to protect data in case of an accident or power loss. Unfortunately, having one-minute looping videos at 300MB each is impractical for sharing and handling. I obtained new firmware from the developer that stores videos in MP4 format, significantly improving usability, but they have no plans to enhance the app with additional features.0 points
