I wanted to thank everyone and especially the support team members for making this drive possible. Without you guys we would never be able to take a convoy of this size through the dunes ! @Rob S@Ishak@Senthil Kumar After the briefing we all ventured out on the trails and came across several herds of camels. Some of them were happy to see us, some other... a bit less As a big chunk of this drive was on farm tracks, it kept a good momentum and only a few refusals. We took a break in a secluded cozy resting place surrounded with trees. I love that area and usually put it in my itinerary whenever i do a scenic drive around that area. Towards the end where we crossed some technical dunes on higher elevation, there were a couple of refusals but all of them handled brilliantly by Rob and Ishak. At one point @Yuryhis Dodge felt like taking a break, and did not want to start anymore for some reason. We disconnected the battery with the help of @Premjit Vappala and @Ishak and waited a couple of minutes and Voila ! The beast was roaring again ! All in all a great morning out with a fantastic convoy. The ones who were on their first drive i have to applaude ! You guys and gals rocked ! Below a screenshot of the track we did. @Waqaɾ no restriction for passengers. A full day of driving in the desert can be exhausting plus onroad drive to liwa. Prepare your passenger mentally and physically before you invite them 😀

I am afraid all your issues you’re describing are purely a lack of maintenance. If you decide to keep the car for another couple of years I would highly recommend to take the maintenance manual and go over every step needed. Fresh fluids for the differentials, transmission, spark plugs, filters, etc.. all comes to mind here. Suggest you keep your budget and desire for tuning and upgrading on hold until this is resolved, otherwise you’ll be driving a money pit and won’t recover from it.

@Luke K P 😂😂, U r making it sound as if the coffee was spiked😹😹, Untill we had coffee we were good with pace, and then started refusals😂

Thanks for the fun morning outing everyone. @Asif Hussain you chose some very scenic lines through fayah Some of the terrain definately felt like a challenge esp with some pockets of very soft sand. We started as the sun had just risen, and made it around 7.5 km before @Sam Selim had a tyre sidewall blowout requiring the team to attach the spare wheel. After this point the pace was going very strong until we stopped for a coffee break (thanks @DP1011) After coffee we got into a couple of refusals and stucks that were resolved pretty quickly until @karim hamandi bumped his xterras nose and pulled out the wheel line and got some bumper damage. Hope you can get it sorted quickly, but loved your attitude of putting it behind you and just getting back with the drive! We covered around 32km today.. not bad at all given the terrain! Was great to see familiar faces and meet some new ones! Enjoy your week

hi @Ale Vallecchi if there will be a possibility to exit a little earlier, Id like to take that option (baby duties), but if l this will be too complicated and not on the way, I ll make an alternative plan and will join the full day ride. Thank you

Thank you all for this exciting journey, many thanks to @Frederic! Riding with you is always a pleasure. The beautiful places and camels made this trip truly special. A special thanks for the prompt help in the difficult sections — we worked as one team! I had some small car issues, but I’ll definitely fix them so next time we can drive without any obstacles. I'm glad to be part of this adventure and already looking forward to the next trip!

Hi everyone. Hope you all are doing well. I've got a 2013 y62 se that I've developed a love and hate relation with over the last 2 years. Love the ride on and off the road, love the stance and the road presence. Love that it's a 1 stop solution for both offroading and overlanding. But hate the fact it's like a needy girlfriend also having tantrums, and has crazy drinking habits. Ive thought of getting rid of it several times and getting something more efficient. But i havent found an alternative as yet other than the lc200 which i honestly am not the biggest fan of. Plus I've already spent a decent chunk of money in it, that I'd lose alot if I'd go to sell it now. So lately I've been having some weird problem with the car mechanically that no one is able to diagnose. 1. rarely but prominently, the patrol misfires, I panic because 99% of the time is when I am doing a road trip outside the country. I end up halting the car for a bit, let everything cool down and I check the connection to the MAF and top up the water in the reserve radiator tank and I am good to go. But I don't know what's rhe problem or the solution. While it misfires, it can't hold the idle, so it tends to shut unless I maintain a slightly higher rpm. At times while I am cruising it will misfires, that time it's like the complete powered gets cut and returns back in a second. 2. Every so often, the radiator water depletes. The mechanic has checked for leaks in the radiator, but everything is fine. Has checked for leaks in the line but couldn't find anything. Has checked if there is water mixing with engine oil but that also came out clear. Now the mechanic says there are 2 pipes going into the car for the air conditioning system. He says it could be that. He wants to disconnect that and suggests that this will solve the problem. I haven't taken it to the garage yet. 3. The vehicle has clocked 330k km. But has never had any oil change other than the standard engine oil change. So let's say, I've never changed the gear transmission front and back diff fluid ever. Until now it behaves decent. But I often go on long trips out of the country and I am always anxious about breakdowns. What do you think I need to do. 4. Never did any major service like timing chain or any engine work. So not sure what I need to check. But the car sounds alright The above are the mechanical issues I have with my car. This year I am thinking of biting the bullet and working on maintaining the car for the next season. What do you'll recommend I do and where do I start. To add to that there are following things I wish to do. 1. Add front and rear bumper (steel, rear with tire carrier and jerry can holder) 2. Redo the interior of the vehicle as its beige and horribly dirty, it's more or less destroyed. Thinking of putting the box storage seat as the base for the rear seats and having the back rests from the y61. I'd appreciate alternative suggestions. As I would like to create more storage space. 3. Maybe change the audio system, to a better one as the stock unit is bad. I upgraded the speakers but the head unit is horrible. 4. Maybe add an exhaust as I have a UGR intake and I feel there is back pressure even after tuning. 5. Add a snorkle (it looks good. Not sure if I need it) 6. Long ranger fuel tank (still wondering if i should, because if I do, then probably I would never be able to dunes bash again) I apologise for such a long query. But thanks in advance for the responses

@Davie Smooth_Operator what a marvelous drive. A whole new side of sweihan that you navigated brilliantly to enjoy a mix of different terrains with some areas really testing our cars and giving us more awareness steer controlling. Extra help on the side helping the group that was stuck from the night before. Thanks to the whole support team for guiding us and keeping the convoy safe

I have been to Al Quaa with @GauravSoni three times. This was my best outing till date where I had most fun till the end when it wasn't. Thank you @GauravSoni for organising this drive. Also we had the best use of the Group Drive function till date. I remember last time as well, when I lost you because I was down in the bowl and you crossed it over and due to few previous tracks I had no idea where you went. This time however I could see you exactly where you were and didn't have to waste time searching for you. @Mario Cornejo, great to see you in action Super Mario, and thank you for your support till the end. @Sunil Mathew, I hope you will get your car's mechanical issues sorted out soon and be back in the fun. Things happen to all of us and it is part of the game, I suppose it is a moot point to tell you about it. @Gautam Banka, looks like you found your play ground - these are the dunes where the true potential of your 392 is realised - but it is not for the novice driver. But, you perhaps saved too much gas for the end. @Batuhan Kulac - this is a true testing ground for your TJ and and hope you had fun with it. @Brett Eicher glad to be seeing you back and hope you had some learning experience.

Dear desert Wanderers, @Mike M., @Giacomo, @Glenn W, @Mark B, @Michael asir, @Hani crest king, @Ahmed Farouk, @Bjoern, @Sandeep N, @Sherry Jacob, @Marek and @ChrisW thank you all for being on time so that we could get the briefing done and then onto the main event of the drive. We actually managed to drive the plan although we did have to run the subca a tad in the middle section to make up some time after my stuck. appreciate all those that helped shovel me out in record time. we also had a few refusals as we made out way through so tight technical dunes. We had something of everything on this drive, from the technical dunes mentioned above, to mid to long range dunes, coupled with some high dunes and big bowls that challenged all of your techniques and driving skills that you have learnt to date. we did have a few refusals including yours truly, but with the help of @Mark B and @Bjoern the were all handled effortlessly and quickly. So well done to you all for getting us through nearly 54km of desert to finish at the exit at 10:59. not sure we could have planned that any better. During the 53.4 km's we managed an average speed of 14.6 mph a moving speed of 21.6 mph and a max speed on the subca of 58.8 mph, moving for 2hr:28mins stopped for breaks and minor stucks and refusals for 1hr:10mins. Our Second lead for the drive @ChrisW was amazing, following my instructions to letter for 99% of the drive, just need to get that left and right bit sorted out to get to 100% Joking aside, great job aalways mate pleasure to have you behind me keeping the lines smooth. Our Sweep for the day keeping me informed all the way around and keeping the convoy together was @Bjoern great job and really appreciate the support and job well done. Our busy CF who did an amazing job with the stucks and refusals was @Mark B, I maybe added to your workload by stating at the break that we had very few refusals, well didn’t that change a few minutes later, I think I maybe Jinxed us from there on in, you handled them all brilliantly and made my job a lot easier having you in the middle dealing professionally and swiftly with the few refusals we had, you were a tad busier than we expected but that was due to teh terrain and nit the capability of the convoy.
