  1. LONG ANSWER: Govt and police like the idea but not sure to how to deal with privacy issue that is the main concern to not to allow any filming in public be it from dash cam or from your iphone. I believe (may be I am wrong) proposal have been submitted to higher authorities and govt bodies to reconsider this idea and we all are waiting. Even you show something to police they will not look into it and also it may not go against you unless it comes as a written complaint from the person you filmed. It's too complicated.......phewwwww.

SHORT ANSWER: No, it's not allowed at the moment as of 5 March 2016.

  2. This is not  really a beast, it's pretty much standard how 110 (LWB) comes, excluding the roof rack and that adventure equipment and side window closure.

Looks like an open bar or open kitchen kind of setup done with that window flap open and then (I assume) this adventure equipment is awning that extend from the car for the sun-shade to .

Btw defender originally comes in diesel only and petrol version actually are import from Japanese market.

  3. Well I admit jumping the queues few times, because in big long pile-up driver ahead of me start texting, doing make-ups, cleaning car dashboard and all sort of non-sense as when queue moves he realize after 30 seconds that create a gap of 50 cars and then plenty of other jumpers jumps-in. So why not me as well.....!

Hope this camera fine those lousy drivers as well.

  4. Well this wifi feature is other way around, you put data sim in your car and upto 5 devices can share that data while on the move to play music or get on social media.

I also read long back that this comes with two data sim option and two antenna's in UK to have a better coverage at all times. I am not sure about Mr. Futtaim has forgot to install this feature here or not, as many standard options in futtaim cars are optional here.

  5. For off-road capability you need to check the specs to understand the engine, horsepower and torque figures.

Renault Duster has 2.0 liter engine, producing 135 horsepower and 195 Nm of Torque.

Generally speaking these numbers are really a peanut for a good capable off-road 4x4, and I am sure it does not comes with LSD or diff lock that is must-have for off-road drives.

It seems like a marketing stunt to me to fake it as a go anywhere car: http://takeme-anywhere.com/home probably for the sand or loose gravel tracks only, and not sand desert and never for dune climbing.

Btw, you can also take honda civic, toyota corolla for same sand or loose gravel tracks, it's no biggy.

I am following this thread to see the real owner "go anywhere" experience.....!

  6. There is no hard and fast rule to identify the fair price of any used car. The only thing works as per my practical experience, is to place ad with high price and then keep reducing with few thousands every 2-3 days to see when you start receiving at least 4-5 calls daily from real users, not dealers (saying what's the last cash price), often happen when you place ad in dubizzle, as it's filled with dealers scouting the desperate deals on daily basis.

  7. Awesome word of wisdom from @ayman_khateeb, I totally agree with all his comments, I myself don't like FJC as someone said above they look like remote control cars to me, fit for my son but not manly enough for me.

Secondly for off-road, lower the value of car lesser exposed to off-road threat and repairing.

Third, I have driven both briefly from my friend and X is def more powerful if you compare stock to stock option.

  8. For sure every sealed transmission filled with lifetime oil should be changed at 40k-50k IRRESPECTIVE of what dealers or car manufacturer says. It's a bunch of bullshit to not to let people fidle with gearoil dipstick and eventually replace the gearbox right after 80k - 100k as soon as warranty runs out. That's what the lifetime means, lifetime of gear box and not car. This gear box change cost them 20k AED atleast instead of 500 AED (assuming) gear oil change.

My advise: DO NOT DRIVE EVEN A KM, put a car on recovery and get the gear oil change and gear filter AT THE EARLIEST if you are lucky you will be saved and may be not as 80k is the already an extreme last limit.

Check with dealer and if they can't or don't want, get it done outside with some good garage. This oil change is not a rocket science than opening the gearbox drain plug and refill with original gear oil. To be on super safe side, buy yourself gear oil and gear oil filter from dealer so no room for error and get it changed from any workshop as soon as you can.

PS: Do not listen to any crap stories that tells you it's not required. Every one who says that, they have been trained to do that.

  9. Thanks futureshock999, for your experience sharing, I really like your word of wisdom a lot "how badly you want it" which is very true and practical. As after seeing suspension mods from 3k -15k I am still confused on what I want it and more than anything I think I dropped the idea inside my heart after seeing big expense for once a month / two month off-road drive.

  10. Can you open your engine air filter and clean it properly with pressurize air and if it's too dirty, clogged and become dark in color better to change so that your engine can breathe better. I think it's your air filter is not able to suck enough air as anyways you park under the shade or in closed underground parking. My two cents in taking an educated guess with above information.

  11. That's quiet strange, have you asked them to give you same in writing as mattd suggested...?

If I am in your place, I will def discuss with them on emails the other forum extract as a known issue and not a cat problem and see what they say/do. If all fail, I will speak to Audi Middle East and see how they can help. After all it's a brand new car and dealer should cover every possible malfunctioning in the warranty unless it's an accidental damage. Even if 1 % we agree that cat entered the system, then also it's Audi's problem to design the engine bay in such manner and leave those sensor uncovered. Similar situation happen with (I think) with Ford USA where spiders were making cobweb in the car exhaust and check engine light was coming, they fixed the problem at their own cost.
