From where to get reflective car sticker done?
Gaurav replied to Gaurav's topic in Mitsubishi Pajero Forum in UAE
Thanks, Saleem any specific shop address you have or at least some area where about will be helpful -
My car door replaced and repainted after the recent accident, now insurance workshop can't source reflective sticker for the door. He tried with habtoor too and no luck, maybe they will special order which will take 2 months to come with big maybe. Anyone knows where we can source the reflective material so any shop can copy, print and cut the same alphabets of PAJERO ?

Engine and Gear Mounts - Original or Aftermarket
Gaurav replied to Srikumar's topic in Jeep Cherokee Forum in UAE
Go with original mounts, as you don't change them often and they should be good for next 4-5 years. Why take chance for half the amount, every time I trust un-heard brand I regret later. -
lololol. Will see when you ride a manual in the desert long hill climb.
-
Is this really correct 3.8M GBP = 19M AED per unit loss? Extract from Edmunds How come Bugatti can make 19M loss on 5.5M car......? Means actual cost is 24.5M AED.....DAMN......!
-
Now you are very special buddy
-
Barry, why I prefer auto in desert because in steep climb downshifting from 2nd to 1st require a PHD that too just to downshift tad above 3K rpm or else power band will die. In such scenario, 1st is too short and 2nd is too long. Auto box (if well designed) downshift in nanoseconds when human reaction is getting nervous and thrilled while dune bashing at 60 kmph speed. I have suffered in my manual Nissan Patrol for 2 years and you can ask any seasoned offroader who ride manual about this pain point.
-
Exactly, now you got it 100% right. In some cars, you have O/D off, PWR, Sports mode etc kind of button to tell auto box for late shift and quick downshifting. That's even better so you can get what you really want.
-
With all due respect to your experience and knowledge, only 1 in million NEED to cross continents. I totally agree that in real hardcore sturdiness manual win hands down but our regular off-roader here doesn't take more than 100 - 500 km in a week. Nope, that's not the point. This manual selection is only needed in some auto box that automatically upshifts. In my ride 90% of my time I drive in D, even in steepest hill climb as it downshifts gear SUPER FAST to 1st when I need it the most.

It's an amazingly genius find and share buddy, all my life I use to think that headlight lens is not removable and factory sealed. However, no one told or shared that there are ways to cut open these lenses and replace them too. WOW. People here spend 100'ssssss of dhs in getting them polished every year instead of replacing it. I like your new tag too: https://carnity.com/tags/letskeeptheforumalive/

Cuthbertson Land Rover

Here you can see some best car commercial -
Welcome @Corbie to the madhouse of Auto vs Manual debate. If you have grown old with manual and now switch to Auto, then I'm sure you must have realized that auto is the way forward. Only thing depends on the gearing and chip controlling the downshift as that's what matters the most in off-road (at least in sand). I have seen great car engine failing due to stupid gearing. Remember before buying your next jeep, do few sand offroad drives to really understand what is needed for the desert. Those fancy monsters with 33 or 35 with 20-inch lift looks good on road to scare people but they actually sit down the dunes eating the dust. If all this is done with massive engine modification or swap to the powerful motor, then it makes sense to have a capable, well-protected climber. For wadi and mountain, these mods may be good in the stock engine, so pick your bet as per your taste. For desert, my simple theory is getting the MAX power to weight ratio and you will win, even in 2.0 liter 4x4.

That's the case of deferring maintenance or really high mileage car, that implies to any car unless you stick to Japanese only. Although now Japanese are also timed for every km to last, so you can't escape, so why not enjoy what you like. For maintenance, If you can read plain English it's very easy to work on RR's. My Pajero (so-called Japanese) has spark plug buried half km inside the manifold. It takes 2-3 hours to change them and I did spark plug change on my RR by myself within 20 minutes. The most notorious thing about any RR is that their initial model has a lot of learning curve and later models are near perfect. Always aim to buy the latest model of the last shape to be on safe side. The shape I am aiming is the last shape that ran from 2006 - 2012 and had loads of issue in 2006 till 20010. As per my reading and research, I hope 2012 are well made. It's the horror stories made and passed on by totally dumb people who go to rip off garage and open their wallet and then cry. I had many issues with my RR, but never spent a fortune on anyone after reading forums. After seeing my RR, my very close friend bought one too and he is happy with her till now. @Jeh please share your experience. I have been quoted too 3500 dhs for slight wobble, that got cured in 55 dhs U-joint for drive shaft original from Al Tayer. Quoted 12000 dhs for air springs, that cost 1500 job with original spares and labor. In my experience, I feel Porsche's are more expensive than RR. I cried a lot on every service of my Cayenne Turbo. Then come the ML500 and RR almost at the same price level.

What does black particle in water while floooring means?
Gaurav replied to Gaurav's topic in Range Rover Forum in UAE
There is no smoke or not even the fuel fumes as I was sitting next to exhaust at 4k RPM in indoor warehouse. -
What does black particle in water while floooring means?
Gaurav replied to Gaurav's topic in Range Rover Forum in UAE
Thanks, Saleem apparently car has full-service history from Al Tayer and clocked 93K kms, it's actually owned by Al Tayer staff. Car idle was also smooth and no sign of missing or whatever you are referring to incomplete combustion process, at least from outside and from exhaust note. Car has been driven by wifey for last two years as a school run and since 2 months sitting idle as wifey got the newer RR. Am I correct to assume, if the car has never been pushed lately then carbon deposit will only pop-out when we floor the pedal at 4-5k otherwise there was no spotting.....? And after the first gush of water and black soot, there was nothing came out even after 10 consecutive tries. -
Just found one super clean low mile RR and while flooring the throttle on idle some tiny black particles came out of exhaust with water droplet. Check attached. I know presence of water droplets is good sign but what is this black soluble particle floating in water. Btw it was after engine has reached its idle temp and not when cold. And also there was no black or white smoke appeared while flooring. Please advise

Thanks, Saleem for your valuable input and I totally agree that Escalade hood is 2 bedroom hall that you can sleep and work happily and that's what makes its maintenance lot easy and prolly cheaper than RR. Thanks, Fredrick as I said my heart is set on RR, but I am unable to find the clean one and in Silver / Grey color in under 100k mileage. RR having donkey mileage is gonna be a money pit as I had one before (146K kms) and I know all the associated drama. Having said that, I like to try new cars everytime as I keep the car for 2 years and flip for minimal depreciation within 5-7 years of age. Perfect to try best cars without losing an arm and leg. I never repeated any car in my last 15 years of driving history and RR is the only one that I wish to repeat. One of my close friends recommended Escalade and after driving few I can say that they are no less than RR (just 7-inch longer) and that's what made me little confused for my next buy. I hope someone here will have some strong point to persuade my decision in either direction.

As many of you know, that from some time I am looking to buy my daily driver and was eyeing for Range Rover. With the heavy list of criteria, i'm unable to find the exact one that I am looking for so I was also seeing Cadillac Escalade from some time now. So my main question is: Which one do you prefer and why....? 2012 Range Rover - in 70k -100k driven (Vogue / HSE, not supercharged) 2012 Escalade - 70k - 100k driven (Standard size one, not long one)

That's really a genius product with smallest possible size to carry all around.

Ace hardware sells really nice rated tow hooks in 50-100 AED, you can go to awir, rashidiya, al quoz and get them mounted from any car workshop that has fabricating capabilities. Please don't go with those ebay hooks you posted, it's maybe for looks only or for dragging cars on the tarmac. In offroad, 2 ton vehicle become 3-6 ton easily when buried in the sand so you really need good strong tow points, either bolted or welded to the chassis. For skid plate (less urgent topic) you can discuss your option with the same fabricator and they can custom make one within 200-500 AED depending on size and material you opt for. @sertac Saleem is good for the mechanical job and not for such fabrication job as his neighbor garage for fabricating, denting and painting needs is a complete rip-off with the shaby workmanship. He spoiled my Pajero bash plate brutally in attempt to alter it to fit after winch plate add-on and then charged me exorbitant amount too. I highly don't recommend him anymore.
