  1. Well you really need to show it to competent mechanic to advise you correctly whether you need new hose or thermostat or both. It looks only hose to me from the picture. For the parts, leave it to the part center advise if its available as two pieces or one as many time our assumption doesnt match with part dealer greed here. I have to buy 200 dhs gear shifter cable for 5 dhs plastic bush needed for my wife Trail Blazer.....!
  2. My 2012 Ford Mustang GT with 115,000 kms is not starting after 7 days of sitting in parking. It has 15 months old Solite 66 Amp battery that shows green eye (good health). Still I suspected the battery, so use the Anker car charging battery and it did start the car in first attempt. After a while shut the car off and start again to test - not started. Used the Anker charger again several times but failed. Then hooked up with my Pajero 90 AMP (2 weeks old) battery and car didn't started at all even after revving Pajero or leaving jumper cable on for 20-30 minutes. Removed the mustang battery completely and hook the jumper cable directly to Pajero, still not starting. The only difference I notice is when I hook up jumper cable all interior light comes up full bright, as with old mustang battery it stays dim. After all this, I doubted on corroded battery terminal with lots and lots of greenish dry residue, so gave all terminal full detail cleaning with steel wool and made them shiny, but still car fail to start. Then in end before giving up hook up an Anker again and this time it start the car again and I let the car idle for 30 minutes to charge the battery fully. Again when I switch off, it didn't started back EVER, even with help of Anker and with jumper cables too. Please help guys on what I am missing here......?
  3. Can we see a better view of leak and thermostat and some more detail about the car to advise properly? Not all leak need thermostat change as may be it's installation done wrong. Thermostat usually don't leak but they fail to open and close at right time to interchange the cold and hot coolant.
  4. Love this idea, extremely useful and brilliant - real out of the box stuff to have variable windows tinting. Thanks Barry for sharing. I went ahead and called Ghosts tints for pricing and legality - it's 8,000 AED for LWB and 6,000 AED for SWB. I love this idea from off-road perspective to have nice dark tint in desert day drives and dim to zero for night drives.
  5. I think first you need to check your PSF (Power Steering Fluid) level and top up if required. Also check if power steering pump is working fully or not? For any modification to make smoother than stock fortuner steering may be some of mechanics here may advise you accordingly.
  6. It's once in a year opportunity for all off-roaders in UAE to meet and sit in one place to enjoy Great Grand Iftar together. It's being held in coordination with all off-road clubs and approx 400-500 cars shows up every year in Iftar bowl near Tawi Rafadah in Bidayar area. Whether you are fasting or not, it's a must drive to attend to watch the union of off-roaders and witness the love and respect that everyone share in this small world. I have attended this twice in the past and always enjoyed meeting some of my old off-road friends and making new friends. Plan is to start from Tawi Nizwa area and follow the fence toward end of the track and then head to Iftar bowl. Considering the fasting time, first 9-10 kms is simple plain desert track next to fence. And then last 2-3 kms is good playable area in rolling dunes just before we reach iftar bowl. After the Iftar we might go for a quick spin in that same or closer area depending on everyone's availability and exit. 8. Another night to remember for a long time. We started on time, with minor delay and headed straight to Bidayer. We entered from Big Red area and played on top and then find our way to behind big red to switch to right side medium to big dunes. As we progresses in that area, dunes were getting little tricky with sharp cresting. We drove for an hour and everyone enjoyed the drive in spite of quite humid night outside it was pleasant breeze inside the desert. As we continue further, one of the car ditched in the soft sand pocket. After failing attempt to self recover, we decided to give a tug. While tugging on soft sand need little harder tug, but that resulted in snapping the tow point which was welded on radiator support and ripping the radiator from bottom. It took Saleem's genius work of art more than 2-3 hours to repair that burst radiator in the desert with whatever limited tools and emergency repair kit we have. All of sudden in the middle of night we experienced a super dense fog formed due to mist / dew and made everything around us fully moist and foggy. As the time was ticking for dawn, so we all decided to lay the suhoor spread and started eating together. As usual we were overloaded with food and spoilt with so many options that one layer wasn't enough. In the middle of this sad and tragic situation we still manage to enjoy each other company with ambiance music, good food and stories. Once radiator reasonably repaired to drive back, we thought of sketching an easy path so that radiator doesn't hold much of pressure by kicking up the heat. I and Basil went to near by exit and after an hour we realize that nothing is gonna be easy as we were surrounded by some deep nasty bowls and tall dunes in both the directions. Luckily while exiting we explored the third and last option in the daylight and that turn out to be reasonably easier for all and we finally exited by 6:00 AM to the road. It's an amazing night to remember with the challenges that we face and we stay together to deal with it as one strong army. From the mechanic point - tools supplier - food organizer - scout support - and even the hairpin supplier (Sri's sister). Many thanks to everyone for their patience and support which really makes this community grow stronger and closer with like minded and trust worthy team players. Here are the pictures from my camera and hope to see all of other pictures soon: https://carnity.com/gallery/category/21-suhoor-night-drive-1-june-2017/

  10. Thanks Basel and Sri, names added see you guys in the evening for the drive and suhoor.
  11. Hahahah seriously.....! Zippo pic taken at home not on drive sirji. I am sure you will be able to watch next video now
  12. I really doubt on this as if setting is provided by car manufacturer then it is supposed to be use, irrespective of its duration unless stated in owners manual, Like launch control in GTR. I had Lexus GS430 that comes with similar mode and all the time I was driving on comf mode and only 10% occasionally on sport when I like to try high speed cornering. Also agree with desertdude that suspension air ballon (rubber consumable item) should be changed in pair, I tried same once and next month changed the second one. I am totally surprise that why dealer has changed one, go back and ask them the reason, as you never know there must be some fault or a defect they must have spotted on one air ballon in which case changing the faulty one is acceptable.

  14. After experiencing an amazing drive last Friday in excellent weather, we like to replicate another Suhoor night drive to enjoy the drive and eating together but in a different area - Bidayer to Pink Rock. This area offers all level terrain in some easy to medium size rolling dunes, and we expect to finish on some tall dune to enjoy suhoor with good breeze and company. 15. Go with above advise as it is. You can only deflate further while you struggle if you have good condition off-road tires (All terrain or M/S). Then you can deflate to 10-12 psi otherwise for road tires (HT tread) 14-15 is ideal. If you deflate further while having extra load then be careful to avoid sharp turn and go straight up and down than side-ways which will pop-out tire more easily due to extra load under low tire pressure.
