Although changing date now, might be little difficult for others. From my side I think it's worth considering as oppose to benefits we are getting. Hi Mohd, welcome to carnity and you are more than welcome to join this drive. Do you know that Mirbat resort is about 80 kms away from salalah and will take good 60-90 min each side....? I was also tempted on same due to very good pricing and offer, but reluctant due to it's location. From my first experience, Salalah day trips are quite tiring due to drive and walk up and down the hill and then end the day with such long drive will take the toll on fun and enjoyment.

Xterra and never being offroad, sounds quite familiar. lolololol. Which brand and size of tires you got, then we can further zero down the probability.

For vibration, while getting the wheel balancing ask the guy to open the tire and clean the sand from inside the tire. If this car has been to offroad and had a tire pop-out then little bit of sand in tire causes similar vibration at intermittent speed.

Great question ask by @Sidshk to prepare, as this road trip is not something we do every month or a year. I am doing this route for first time in my life, but my longest road trip was driving to Salalah for 1400 kms in 12 hours. Around the UAE in one day will be fun for sure with so many cars, but more importantly it's going to be challenging and tiring after first couple of hours. When we try something new and harder, we get great sense of achievement and that's what I am looking for after completing this road trip. Below are the things that I advise everyone should carry, other can add to the list based on their experience: MUST HAVE Fully serviced car - Engine oil, Gear Oil, Tires and AC Replacement tire, with security lug nut Car owners manual Car service history details Stock sound sleep for 8 hours for two days in advance GPS with offline maps (Smartphone / stand alone unit) First aid kit Fire extinguisher Emergency contact numbers Face wipes, deo, sunglasses, sunscreen Cool box with plenty of water and soft drinks Plenty of music CD's / flash drive / BT as radio and internet might not be available Quick bites - snacks, biscuits, energy bar, chewing gums, wafers etc. Mobile phone with car charger or power bank Cameras (photo, videos, dashcam, gopro) OPTIONAL Walkie-Talkie radio Recovery tow rope and shackles Emergency fuel (Jerry can) Emergency tool kit, blades, tapes, flash light etc. Spare Engine Oil, Coolant, Jumper cables Air compressor

Very nice trip report Rahim bhai, although it was exploration drive and we didn't get what we were expecting but I thoroughly enjoyed as tasting a different terrain with a blend of forest and desert was nice. Plus exploring stuff was fun: burnt car, mushroom hair cut trees, Swimming pool in desert, 100's of camel farm and sand formation rocks.

Barry, I am not a scientist as well or chemical engineer to decode what exactly blend which company uses. My simple theory goes with my own experience of 15 years of car owning in Dubai. Without naming and shaming any dealer or fuel station oil change they goes jet black and curdled in 5k kms than getting Mobil 1 that stays half shiny and golden-brownish at 5k. There must be some serious science involved behind Mobil 1 oil engineering to reach to that level of quality. Secondly you pay peanuts, you get monkeys in most cases. So why putting 120 dhs oil change than 180 dhs for high quality brand. Thirdly, which is supreme the way car speaks to you with high quality brand is unbeatable: Better throttle response, Quieter engine, lower vibrations, smoother highway ride on and so many more benefits. My logic is if by paying 60 dhs extra per oil change (half of fuel tank cost) I can keep my car happy, then why not.......? I know now lot of people will start jumping up and down now.......! Above ATF advise is 50% based on above oil change theory and remaining 50% is stick to OEM brands as far as possible to be safe than sorry. They know what they are designing BEST for their vehicle engineering.

Apologies to miss on this one earlier. When it comes to specialize vehicle, this place is either full of crooks or dumb guys. In so much old model, my best advise is to DIY full study on what exactly you want, be it AC, Electrical or Mechanical. Internet has almost everything available from online videos to workshop manual etc. Discuss it on forums, and seek expert advises. Then go to any decent garage and pinpoint and advise them exactly what you need and how it should be done. This way you will educate the dumb mechanic and you will discourage the crooks to get greedy. I have done same in my Cayenne and Range rover to go to any workshop with detail print out and supervise the job and get things moving with 100% confidence and at reasonable cost, in fastest of time. Plus this approach will feed your car bug that you will come home with sense of big accomplishment. Stage two: you will start working on your car slowly along with your trusted mechanic. Stage three: DIY everything, if you have time, tools and space. Btw, I am at stage 2 right now. Once you get used to this style, you will learn a lot and save lot of time. Last year my wife trailblazer headlight went off, being a small issue I straight went to local mechanic and he spend almost two hours to find out that there is nothing wrong but still headlights not working. Then second mechanic, same story. Third, even worst, leave the car for two days. As a last resort I start researching on mobile (which i dont like much) and found out in 5 mins that trailblazer has one stupid Solid State relay for HDM (Headlight module) that conks off due to DRL. It's a known issue. Replaced it and voila.

I have already given my comment for anyone to take it or leave it, for just over 50 dhs difference i'll choose Mitsu Diamond ATF any day.
