  1. You can buy strap and use it as a bridle, just make sure its heavily rated. I used my strap for long time and in some rigorous uphill pulls n tugs. You can get liftek from Alico in shj.
  2. If you recently bought this, which I think you must have after your recent civic purchase, just go to the shop and complain. If it's old then DIY debugging is a good idea. Which brand is that, share some model info so we can dig into it.
  3. Theoretical yes, but when have you last seen or driven Y62 (STOCK) doing wonders....? We have had 3 patrol in 2019 and 2 broke the bumper, 3rd was intelligent matured driver and went back home with same bumper. Due to tons of electronic control, I have seen even V8 struggling and what Adel mentioned here I can totally relate to. If it was doing wonder as Y61 VTEC then why would Nissan brought back Y61 VTEC VTEC for shababs.....?
  4. Thanks a lot @Frederic. @shadow79 please download this and get ready to read it with popcorn and green tea. Don't tell me now where do you get workshop manual for $10, Fred got you one for free, so you better make use of it now.
  5. Sorry dude, this was over 10+ year story now and you might be right at that time but not with Patrol weight. @Adel Muradov there is no doubt you have very capable 4x4 but due to its pedigree now mixed with luxury+mall crawler audience and that makes it very heavy, more electronically controlled gizmos, computers, sensors. Patrol Y62 will always find it difficult to catch up on extreme drives like the one you just mentioned. However that gap is very marginal - if you hone your offroad skills like if FJC can do 100, then your Patrol can match upto 80-90 in capable hands. So don't worry too much about that level and little gap IMHO, first focus on learning and "practicing" the basics without breaking your 4x4, rest all will follow. On the contrary, for being a good offroader you need slightly underpower 4x4 than desert toy that can take you anywhere with a touch of throttle. You won't learn real offroading that way.
  6. These are the pics and video WhatsApp Video 2019-08-04 at 1.01.34 PM.mp4
  7. Thanks for the lovely trip report. I, Saleem and Jaleel went on Friday evening with half working tire rod end and link rod compiled from used parts lying in saleem garage. This made it fine to exit and drive back home. Just ordered the new ones now and also the set of all rear bushing, as one of them is making little clack clack in dunes. So hopefully will get everything sorted within this week.
  8. Just checked the present engine oil age and it has done 2552 kms so far and changed on May 8, less than 3 months ago. Usually I change anywhere after 5K-6K kms as it has 10K life, also check the oil color and smell looks nice and crispy, little darker now but matches with 2500 kms use. As a first rule, I think if after all the sensor and grounding check is done, I should change the oil and see if it happen again. Wht do you guys think....?
  9. I am using this same oil since 8 years without any issues and on the contrary, every time I changed engine oil some disaster happen from knocking noise to busted engine. Even the habtoor lukoil also failed after 3-4 offroad drive and started producing loud knocking after 1000 kms, changed back to Mobil 1 - 0W40 - everything went straight. So I am sorry, I wont change the engine oil.
  10. After yesterday's drive while coming out to tarmac, I experienced little intermittent blinking of engine oil and realized that its time to top up. After coming out I topped up the engine oil to MAX level which was earlier close to MIN level but in safe zone. Then after topping up still engine oil light was blinking on highway, so pulled over and Jalil checked if oil is coming to lifters from engine oil cap and it was all fine. After one day cool off, just started the car and now its no longer blinking but more of a constant light in D and no light in reverse. Any idea what is happening and how we can fix this.....?
  11. Municipality here is EXTREMELY strict with any food businesses here, so Im sure that to get bottling plant license and all associate permissions must be super strict and they need to maintain certain standard like NSF, FDA, ISO, ESMA Etc. Read here: https://www.maidubaiwater.com/whatson/mai-dubai-water-gets-nsf-certification/ For saving the environment from plastic bottles, I am using the 20 liter water dispenser from al bayan since long time. Second best way I feel is the use of RO filtration process.
  12. Nope, if I hear that name i'll recollect for sure.
  13. @Frederic you have read my mind once again. Since morning I read this post and wanted to bring this EXACT F******* point to the table that stop jumping about DEWA potable water and go up and just check the exterior of your building water tank, let alone inside. If you are convinced to drink, ask your building maintenance that when have they done the last cleaning maintenance of water tanks. Still that OVERRULE the internal corrosion that is dissolved in your faucet water. I can't share the source here due to privacy issue but this is the picture of inside of water tank that has recently burst inspite of being regularly maintained and cleaned periodically in Dubai. Look at the rusted pipes and nut bolts. Look at the bottom leakage turned yellow on beige concrete, assuming that major leakage of water must have happen from there and that's why rusted residue left its mark.
  14. When I was young and had plenty of time, every week I used to detail clean all my cars for personal satisfaction and perfectionist touch. Here are the few products I remember using for great results: Meguire leather cleaner and conditioner - 2 diff products Turtle wax polish - first option Carnuba or formula 1 wax - second option Formula 1 - scratch out rubbing compound bottle - used to be 7 dhs and now I think it cost 30 dhs. Very useful for fine scratches, extra shine on headlight, trim, etc. Armor all tire cleaner spray, interior cleaner and protector spray. NEVER use dashboard spray as it spoil dashboard and also windshield in summer to have haze when cooked in 60 degrees outside heat. There used to one more spray I used to use for black exterior trim, that use to restore its shine from off-black look. Can't recall its name - wonderful product and used to last that shine and crisp black look for a month easily.
  15. You can get car battery under 500 aed, in 10K you can replace your accent even. Which currency are you talking in? 4 years for a battery is very good life, as in UAE heat they hardly last 1-2 year.
  16. Promate service is very prompt and this product comes with the 24 months warranty. They have collected my old one first and then send me the brand new product yesterday. Pretty impressive.
  17. Nah, dudie. Watch the trailer, its the bad guy (villain) calling himself a black superman
  18. OK GUYS, FAST AND FURIOUS RELEASING TOMORROW. Get ready to see "BLACK SUPERMAN" Shall we book for next Friday evening.....? 9 AUG 2019.....? Put your name below or suggestion for another date or time Gaurav
  19. There are two ways to look at this problem: Don't eat outside food, breathe outside air if you are allergic or prone to falling sick quickly. OR raise your immune system to next level so most of things wont impact you. I got my Pajero sprayed almost 3 years back (Nov 2016) and used the most hard wearing lacquer, and then used 3M coating and till date paint looks great and cleaned every week from my building cleaner - 1 bucket style. For interior you can look into scotch guard your complete interior for not having any stains or spill. Then use bushranger rubber mat that are washable and have thick grooves to hold any food or sand. Every week you can just do quick vacuum than using so much elbow grease. For detailing interior every year, I don't mind (if needed) but exterior polishing every year will soon fade the original color of your car and leaving a fade spots all around - max 3-4 years as polishing do scrape the original paint to bring that shine and gloss back. I did with my Pajero once (5 years back) and then next summer I started observing the fading spot all around like a dalmatian. I know it must be the age but that polishing probably scrape off that last layer of paint left. So polishing once in 5-6 year is acceptable if it really needed and I meant for polishing that uses grinder. Wax polish is acceptable for that shine and lustre look or for repelling water stains etc for rainy countries. After the Repaint with Octroral Paint (Netherlands) and Standox (Germany) Lacquer and hardener. After the 3M Paint Protection Coating for 650 Dhs. I think it was 850 for external and internal with scotch guard.
  20. Whatever it might turn out to be eventually, but this time they have shared much more specifics. This points out that actual car might be on its way.
  21. In my view, show it to good AC technician rather than mechanic who knows too little about AC and think by topping up gas they have mastered the HVAC system. While back somebody here was appreciating a place in DIP, can't rem the name. I think @desertdude or @Jeh made that recommendation.
