  4. Group camping is not allowed. However, you are free to camp individually. Alternatively you can try to book a hotel room, but from what we heard they are not available at the moment or are a bit pricey.
  5. @Arda Yagcioglu congrats. As it's a new car for you, try to join a couple of the upcoming drives so that all the small issues surface up over here rather in Liwa
  6. 70 Litres would be less. It would be good to carry extra fuel (20 litres)
  7. Calendar will be live at 7 PM. Please be online at that time. Also please ensure that you have completed min. 3 drives with Carnity by Nov 27th to be eligible for the drive.
  8. One big advantage of manual transmission is that there is no Hot Gear Oil Indicator (atleast not in my XJ) . Plus the manual gear oil is much more thicker and hence can absorb more heat than the relatively less viscous automatic ATF gear oil. I have pushed my XJ extensively on first gear for the past 3 years and keep checking the quality of oil. Hardly any burnt smell or discoloration.

  11. You are opening a topic that has one clear winner : Manual all the way. The automatic guys will just jump in to justify themselves now.
  12. The drive goes live at 7:10 PM today. You can sign up at that time. Drives become full in about 10 mins.

  14. Agree. Give it a break of 5 mins after doing two tyres. The life of a compressor depends on how long you run it hot.
  15. Hi Paolo, I shall add your name while making the convoy list. See you tomorrow morning.
  16. @Nitin Mohan @Vinojps @Arshad Roojee @Shyam Karat @Nathan Evans @Luca Bregni @Vijaysekhar @Prabuddha Madusanka @bassel el rafei @Atif @belal hadi As we are less than 24 hours from the start of the drive, here is a brief of what we plan to do tomorrow: PREPARATION FOR THE DRIVE AND WHAT TO EXPECT 1) Please ensure that you reach the meeting point on time, i.e., 6:00 AM sharp. A little early would be better. If you are late, you would be left behind. 2) The senior members on the drive are me and @Vanessa8580 3) We will be using Carnity Channel 4 tomorrow. (446.08125 Mhz). The instructions to program the radio are provided in the below post. Please ensure that you have a fully charged and programmed radio before the drive. We are not carrying spare radios for this drive. 4) All traction controls, ABS and Air bags need to be switched off. If it requires pulling the fuse, please do the needful. Incase of any queries you can always ask the senior members before the drive or better still, post your queries on this drive post and we would assist. 5) Please ensure you have a flag, pressure gauge, deflator and a radio as a minimum. If you have a compressor, it would be excellent as currently the air compressor at the last Exit (ADNOC) is not functioning. You would then have to borrow a compressor from someone or alternatively drive down to ENOC gas station which is about 15 kms away on deflated tyres. 6) For highway tyres you can deflate to 15 psi. Those who have AT tyres, you can deflate to 13 psi. 7) Feel free to ask questions at any time. 😎 Convoy Numbering will be posted after 7 pm today evening. We shall be starting the drive from the South Qudra side from where we would be entering the long range dunes. We will be driving for about 3.5 hours practicing driving in sand, proper steering control, crossing some dunes, and getting you and your vehicle more familiarized with the desert. By 10:00 am we will be heading out towards the Qudra parking.
  17. @sertac @Chaitanya D @Desert Dweller @Tbone @Janarthan are proud Xterra owners since the past few months. They might be able to give their feedback.
  18. A very much capable car. We have quite a few F150s in our group. He needs to just ensure that he has tow points (and not tow balls) at the front and back of his truck. Ask him to sign up join the club and sign up for the drive.
