  1. Congrats to the nicest and the most thorough gentleman in our group. You are a great company to be with Atif Bhai and your humbleness is something I always admire.
  2. Congrats @Shamil. You have the right spirit and you have come back much stronger. You didn't allow the incident to affect your confidence and enthusiasm. Well deserved.
  3. Congrats @Xaf. Look forward to seeing you on the fewbie drives
  4. @Ale Vallecchi appreciate that you took the effort to find and inform everyone as well. Great spirit
  5. It's been a while since I have been there. The last time I was there ADNOC was opening an outlet. But it would be safer to refill your tank prior to coming to the meeting point.
  6. @bunty_and_pops Welcome to Carnity Offroad Club. A few questions : 1. Which 4x4 do you drive? , 2 : Does your car have front and rear tow points, 3. Have you had any past experience of desert driving
  7. @Gaurav last week Shamil made me and Xavier shovel an entire dune as he was stuck right down the middle. Since we were only 3 cars and the angle was not the best, we shoveled a lot to make the recovery easy. @Shamil, the last portion of qudra is a mini version of Faqa. So it might just be your lucky day to return the favor in kind. 😁
  8. @Shamil, What if you are in sweep? Will you ask @Gaurav to do all the shovelling? 😋😋 Welcome back. Look forward to having you back in the desert
  9. Welcome Ale. Look forward to meeting you on Friday. A few questions : 1. Which 4x4 do you drive? , 2 : Does your car have front and rear tow points, 3. Have you had any past experience of desert driving
  10. Lets have a slight different kind of challenge in the Qudra Area. This area is famous for its white sand and will offer a good mix of playable dunes, technical dunes to test your car control. Depending on the convoy level we might alter the route on the fly. Join to enjoy the beautiful art of desert driving at sunrise. Level : Newbie and above When: 8 November 2019 Meeting time: 5:45 AM, convoy will move at sharp 6:00 AM Where: Al Qudra Parking GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/Ru8v4AiVBHVVeaBU9 Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance. Plan: Drive, train and enjoy till about 10:30 AM What to bring along: Loads of snacks, plenty of water - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 11:00 AM Please RSVP the below calendar event

  12. Trip Report - With the mornings getting more pleasant I was quite eager to reach the meeting point and start the drive in one of my favourite areas, Al Faqa. At 6:00 am I got a call from @AKR mentioning that he had just got up as he missed the alarm. Guess he didn't sacrifice his Thursday night routine after all. So we were down to 3 cars with Shamil in middle and Xavier in sweep duties. After a bit of warming up on some nice dunes we started encountering the famous long range dunes of Al Faqa. Now, when you are ridge riding on long range dunes it's important to know at what point to exit out. @Shamil realised that a bit late and we had our first stuck right down the middle on the top of a tall dune. After a lot of shovelling to clear up the underbelly of the car, @Javier M recovered him in the safest possible manner. Well done Javier. The advantage of a small convoy is the pace that can be maintained and with a good set of capable drivers I was very soon side slopping and ridge riding on every possible dune. Except for a couple of stucks the drive was extremely smooth and I must say that @Shamil did surprise me with his precise car control in some of the places. Also the increase in his confidence could be seen as we drove longer. We totally covered a distance of approx 50 kms in a drive time of about 2.5 hours. Special thanks to @Javier M for supporting the drive. Look forward to more such wonderful drives with you guys. Till then Adios Amigos.
  13. Brilliant video with the drone footage. Easily the best video of the Carnity Drives so far.
  14. And that is a big sacrifice. Right @Gaurav?
  15. I changed my 29 inch HT tyre to a 31inch AT tyre and I can definitely notice the heaviness in terms of acceleration and also while climbing a dune. The weight of each tyre had increased by about 3-4 kg. I have to offset it by reducing the tyre pressure further than I used to earlier. But I read somewhere that higher tyre weight or unsprung weight is good for offroading. Not sure though on how it helps in the desert especially over cross tracks or in terms of stability.
  16. I have been driving on stock steel rims for the past 2 years, had nasty bumps, jumps, etc, but never had a bent rim till date.
  17. Sometimes it takes a lot more courage to do just the right human thing than what is right as per the law. Kudos to the judge for doing the right human thing.
