  1. Most of the time I’ve been here I’ve been travelling on the metro. Apart from the stinky people who never wash and wear the same clothes every day and make you physically gag when they stand beside you, the people who insist on watching tiktok videos on their phone at max volume, the people with coconut oil covered hair who seem to want to rub it on my fresh white linen shirt, the people who stand at the door and refuse to move, the people who try to push you back into the train when you’re trying to get out, the Botox jumeirah janes with the fake boobs who insist on discussing last nights partners penis size on loudspeaker so everyone can hear, it has been a dream. You leave home at the same time every day, you get to work at the same time every day. It’s as reliable as a Karama Rolex. Ive always heard my friends talking about driving to work during crotch goblin delivery hours, aka school bus time, but I thought meh, it can’t be that bad. WOW! I started driving here at the start of the summer. I was so happy I could get to work in 15 minutes, 10 on a good day. Less if you know where the speed cameras are. My journey has increased to 45 minutes of pure traffic hell mingling with some of the most horrible, uncivilised drivers on the road. Constant honking and flashing, people trying to push you out of your lane, people who seem to be set out and hell bent to have an accident from the moment they woke up. If I stuck to my regular route, this journey would take an hour but luckily I spent some time over the summer learning the back streets and shortcuts. Seriously considering going back to public transport for commuting and keeping the car for night time cruising when all the Generation Z whippersnappers are safely locked up in their safe spaces.
  2. My 10 minute commute now takes 45 minutes.
  3. I am not a true offroader, but i can see the Y62 isnt a real offroad car. Its a flex. Hey, I can afford the newest Patrol so FU rest of you poor people driving round in your old model Patrols and Pajeros. I can afford a newer car than you, even if it is crap offroad.
  4. We can beat that easy. There are enough professionals on here with the technical knowledge. I bet I can make a mustang beat that speed with a long enough track. Just find the sponsorship.
  5. I prefer newton metres, even pounds per foot if you choose to subscribe to caveman methods like so many of our American terrorist friends choose to do. If don’t have a modern torque wrench to hand, I can still use the old American terrorist system and make it work. Ugga dugga is way back. 4 Ugga Duggas to tighten an wheel. 6 ugga duggas to tighten a brand new cylinder head down to a new gasket. If you’re installing a new spark plug, one ugga dugga is plenty. @Rahimdad since you recently had a problem with stuck spark plugs, what is your thoughts on the ugga dugga method?
  6. But but but, the big question is are they going to keep selling a model that was discontinued in the rest of the world 9 years ago alongside the new model?
  7. Shows up to at least one drive per year. Maybe 2. Always drives someone else’s car. Hates driving off-road because he’s scared of heights and doesn’t like being on top of tall dunes. Loves it when people break down because he can give his input.
  8. A differential isn’t something you can just swap parts on. It needs to be properly set up, pinion height, backlash, bearing preload. I would be tempted to drop the oil out, put some engineers blue on the gears and rotate it a few times to see what’s really going on inside.
  9. Don’t blame the mechanic. Blame the manager who pushes the mechanic to find non existent faults to increase profits. This is an ideal opportunity to open a carnity owned garage where the customer will get a proper diagnosis, they will get charged a proper labour rate and they won’t get ripped off. Carnity garage could be a big thing

    New music

New Tool album was released this morning. I am not disappointed. Well worth the 13 year wait. I thought rammsteins new album was going to be the best rock album of 2019. Poor rammstein, they picked the wrong time to release a new album.
  11. Good point. Maybe the number of vehicles on the road from a specific manufacturer also comes into play. And there will be less European cars on American roads.
  12. I got a smart tv recently. To watch the latest movies you can open the web browser and go to a site like putlocker or popcorntime and it works. You can find live sports streams on sites like wiziwig. Basically anything you can watch on laptop, you can watch on tv. Netflix is a worthwhile investment. Anyone who knows me knows I hate spending money but that’s one bill I am happy to pay every month. I got the full HD package and it’s better picture quality than you get through OSN. Don’t bother with amazon prime unless you order a lot of stuff from the amazon website. Their selection is limited.
  13. Audi, Mini, BMW are too high up that list. From experience, I have my doubts.
  14. I disagree with most of these points. I know a few small garages in Al Quoz who receive cars from the main dealers on a regular basis because the main dealers can’t repair them. When you go to the main dealer, you are paying extra for the upkeep of their fancy showroom and clean garage. Main dealer isn’t the best option. I’m not going to name any of the dealers because of UAE defamation laws but I will say it is some high end European brands. There are plenty of garages who do work cheap and do it properly. The market here is so cut throat that small garages end up basically working for next to nothing just to get work to keep the employees busy. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s bad. Not to say cheap can’t be bad. Petrol station oil changes I totally agree with. If you take you car to a petrol station for an oil change, you must hate your car. Who knows what kind of oil they are putting in? See my 3k, 5k, 10k oil change scam thread. But back to the original question, my biggest problem as a car owner. Other people on the road. So many people drive with no consideration for their fellow humans. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been cut off or tailgated this week. The person in the other car is also a living breathing person so you should show them some consideration. Cutting someone off and nearly running them into a barrier to save yourself 4 seconds on your journey isn’t cool. These are the type of people who get involved in stupid accidents. Karma is a bitch.
  15. Black is a neutral colour so it goes with anything so it’s cheap and easy to make all belts one colour but it really depends on the manufacturer. I’ve had Citroens with red, green and blue belts, and they weren’t high end models. I see some cars with cream coloured belts too, Mercedes, BMW. I can’t have a car with a light coloured interior. I’m always dirty after work and light coloured interiors get ruined in a couple of months for me.
  16. Or maybe got together after too much beer and made an illegitimate child
  17. Looks like a Montero Sport crashed into a Prado
  18. Looks like it just sends a distorted signal to the ECU to trick it into thinking something else is happening. I would love to pull one apart to see whats happening but I guess its just a few resistors and a potentiometer on a PCB. Better just to spend some money and get a remap and have some real results. I bought a ZX 16v a few years ago with something similar installed. The guy I bought the car from told me it was an "adjustable tuner". I wasn't impressed with it and ended up disconnecting it. If you want to play with the TPS on a Pajero for free, you can adjust the sensor on the back of the throttle body. Its either 1 or 2 Philips head screws, I don't remember, then you can rotate it forward or back and experiment to see what results you get. Mark the original position with a sharpie or tippex before you start playing so you can put it back to the original position if you aren't happy. Here's a bonus pic of the ZX 16v, one of 500 sold in UK, only 5 remaining on the road. White ZX behind is a Volcane TD. zx
  19. When you think about the meaning of Pajero in Spanish, anything is an improvement!
  20. I stand by my comment. Sitting on your ass all day watching tv and eating chips Oman and getting fat isn’t a medical condition. It’s being lazy. And the people who can afford to sit around and watch tv all day and not have to move while the maids do all the work, this tax won’t make any difference to them. It’s pointless.
  21. Here is another problem. Unless you live in a villa, it’s difficult to get access to a 240v supply. The majority of people live in apartments in towers. What will the security say if everyone starts running extension wires down the lift shafts to charge their cars.
