  1. No problems I will hold my hands up and admit I was wrong but I want to know why. I know I am a good technician but I'm not Jesus and I am open to being educated. I would like to see some properly citated links explaining the differences in ATF oil. When I learned about it when I was selling it (way back long ago, just when D3 came out), I was taught that it was all manufactured to a standard that had to meet the manufacturers standard. Check the service manuals of many cars, it will say ATF D3 standard etc., So what is the REAL differences in the oils when it all meets the same specifications? @Gaurav there is a guy who frequents all the UK forums, Opieoilman is his username. If you could get him on here, it would clear up so many questions when it comes to oil. There seems to be so many on here. I would particularly love him to confirm the 3k, 5k etc oil change scam.
  2. It's crazy. So many popular models. There must be big plans for replacement models.
  3. ATF oil isn't like ordinary oil. In fact it technically isn't even oil. It is a very specific blend of chemicals and to obtain the Dexron 3 specification, it has to be an exact blend. You can't add a little bit of this or a little bit of that or it will not meet Dexron 3 specifications any more. Yes it might work but you can't label it as Dexron 3. Therefore, all ATF D3 is the same and you're just paying a premium for the name on the bottle.
  4. The Mitsubishi oil will be the same oil as AC Delco, just more expensive because it's dealer branded. Automatic transmission oil is standardized, so anything marked Dexron 3 will work.
  5. Yes, ATF and steering fluid are the same thing. Generally. Some cars use LHM which is a mineral oil but your Pajero uses ATF.
  6. @shadow79 why not go all the way and top it up with 80w90? I used to have an old Ford Escort with a 1300 Xflow engine for scooting back and forward in. Bearings were completely shot in it. Couldn't get any oil pressure unless I topped the engine up with a pint of 80w90. Ended up with a snapped crank 😬

Hi Alfie, welcome to Carnity! Why not join the road trip on Friday? Always good to meet someone on the spanners.
  8. Wraps only work if the underlying paint is good. A wrap will show every imperfection in your paintwork. Wraps are a false economy. A proper paint job sourced on here will cost you less
  9. 0.8 liters in 3,000 kms might seem like a lot but in reality, it's not actually that bad. I understand it's bad if the engine didn't do it before the oil change though. I used to date a girl who drove a 7th generation Toyota Celica and it used a liter every 1,000 km. She complained to Toyota and they told her that was normal consumption for the engine. Sorry, unrelated, just a story.
  10. Wasn't your rear crankshaft oil seal leaking? Leaky seal won't drop oil out when it's parked but can drop it on the road when you're driving and you won't see. Take a look around the bell housing and it will give an indication of how bad the leak is. I agree with what treks said, it could be burning in the engine. If the level is going down so quickly it's probably the cause. If you're 100% sure the fuel system is in good working order, you can do an exhaust gas analysis and compare CO and hydrocarbons to that of a known good engine or a spec sheet. If they're abnormally high, it can indicate the oil being burnt in the combustion chamber.
  11. Funny chicken related story... I used to have a small scrapyard way out in the middle of nowhere. There was a party in my house one night. Everyone did their thing, had a good night and went to bed. The next morning I heard banging on my door. Well, more like someone trying to kick my door in. I woke up, extremely hung over and opened the door. Before the door was half way open, an old guy pushed me inside and put me against the wall with a knife against my throat. What the hell is wrong with you old man I asked. He said you were at my house last night trying to steal my chickens you bastard. I denied it vehemently. I knew I was in the house drinking beer and playing guitar all night then went to bed. Next thing I know, he shows me my backpack with my name on it. I couldn't understand it at all. Then he pulls my gun out of the boot of his car and throws it at my feet. I clearly recognize it as my bag and my gun but I have no idea what's going on. Next thing my gf, now ex gf comes out and the sudden realization of what she and her friend did the night before when everyone fell asleep hits her. She apologized profusely. The old guy realized she was drunk and made a mistake and laughed about it. This was the same crazy old guy that was going to cut my throat 5 minutes earlier. He ended up telling us that if we wanted a chicken, all we had to do was ask. We ended up eating free chicken for the next 6 months until that crazy gf caused more problems and I had to leave the area.
  12. Cool, thank you! I'll give you a call before or over the weekend and we'll organize.
  13. I've watched a few videos on this and it seems like an awesome go anywhere machine. Can't help but thinking you would need an extra pair of hands to drive it with all those hydraulic valves. I would love to have the time and money to sit at home and build stuff like this and not have to worry about life.
  14. The problem is the sender is just an old fashioned variable resistor. Below is a picture of a fuel level unit from a modern Touareg. The float (black part) floats on top of the fuel and moves the arm up and down. At the end of the arm is an electrical contact. This contact slides over the resistance material (curved silver part) and the voltage changes depending on where the contact is sitting on the resistance material. An electrical signal is sent to the level gauge on the dashboard which is interpreted as the fuel level. Herein lies the problem, the height of the fuel is being measured, not the volume of the fuel. To design and manufacture an accurate computer system would cost a lot of money. The current system is cheap and cheerful. Which is what the majority of end users want. Cheap.
  15. Was out on my balcony having a smoke and finally got a snap of one. Sorry about the quality, it's just my phone zoomed in. There was 2 of them, both wrapped to look like prototypes but by the time I got my phone out, I just caught one in the distance.
  16. My suggestions in no particular order, Road trip to barracuda Road trip to unisat Sharjah classic car museum Emirates national auto museum (rainbow sheikh) Go karting at Dubai autodrome (probably my favorite option) I think it would be nice if it was something automotive related saying as we are a car community. If it's water park then sorry, I'm out but I'll still wish you all the best. I can't do chlorinated water due to a chronic health issue.
  17. It was only sold in Japan so I'd guess its RHD only, therefore not allowed here.
  18. First time I've come across this. Looks like a Japanese H1. And Mega Cruiser is such an awesome name for a car. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Mega_Cruiser
  19. Good answer pankaj. The fuel tank is just whatever shape they can fit in the space given.
  20. The service advisor is a scammer trying to make commission. I trust what the manufacturer says before I trust a service advisor. Have a read through this,
  21. Why are you changing the oil every 5k when the Honda service schedule is 10k? You're just wasting your money.
  22. To me, it sounds more like the habtoor techs wanted to have a dig at the customer than a valid explanation for what happened. Once you modify anything these guys have you in a barrel and the modifications will always get blamed for anything that fails.
  23. The timing belt broke because of too much boost? That's something I've never seen in my life and I can't find any case studies on it. If I had to put money on it, I'd say the belt was already past it's best and was ready to snap anyway. Plenty of evos out there running 400+ bhp with standard timing belts.
