So happy to see this @Atif ! I've put my first steps in the sand driving behind you a number of times, and you always impressed me with how relaxed and composed you drive. You find the perfect balance of throttle and that Prado should be grateful with you as it's driver.

PS the Karak Chai canteen might have helped a bit :) 😉

Hey @Frederic, thanks for your encouraging words. Yes the Karak Chai does help and makes me feel that I contribute in a small way to the team spirit of Carnity.

Now I am looking forward to be able join you guys an an intermediate drive.

  3. You have a point Javier as this will not be a major reduction as jet fuel and ship engines are also to blame for pollution.

However  I expect the non-fossil fuel sources like solar, nuclear and hydro power will increase day-by-day so there will still be some sustainable component. If you get a chance watch Bill Gates video on Netflix where he talks about his investment in the design of nuclear plants that use nuclear waste to generate power. Another point that helps the electric car option is that the urban areas that have high concentration of pollution on roads due to exhaust gasses will become cleaner. Yes the industrial pollution portion is high too but any incremental reduction should benefit the population living close to the traffic clogged roads.
Anyways, I do agree with your point that there is still too much use of fossil fuel to generate power at present so electric car advantages is currently over hyped.

Having sand in moving parts, ie suspension, drive shafts, brakes etc is never a good thing. It’s always better to wash it off when possible.

There are some cool little 12v pressure washers available in dragon mart that hook up to the car battery. They are never going to put up as much pressure as a 240v machine but it’s better than a hose pipe and good enough to wash sand off things. They use surprisingly little water too. A 20 litre bucket is usually enough to wash a car.

Thanks Barry. I suppose engine wash is not required and just filter cleaning would do apart from the washing of the parts you mentioned?

  5. I have read some posts on engine wash and car body wash but wanted to confirm if a complete body wash is required very frequently during the weekly off-road season. I already have regular vehicle top-body cleaning but is it necessary to have the under-body washed too and how frequently?
Basically, I am trying to reduce costs and water waste but at the same time don’t want to end up with more wear and tear due to delayed cleaning.

Now that is news @Atif bhai. Howcome only cow dung will do the trick, I take a dump every morning too, how is my dung different than the cow dung?

Just thinking about the smell from the car, would it be in a drive-able condition with the stink from the fuel. I guess we will have to wait till 2021 to find out more.

😂 😂😂. Well it all depends how many greens you eat :-) . While we are on the topic, check out the Tesla 3 Fart sound option. The video is the next one under the above link.

  7. In the Hummer incident,The Cruiser was front-heavy , soft shackle would have been less dangerous but  an alternate angle should have been considered in my view. I was conveyed by the grapevine that in this case the shackle hit the steering wheel and then the chin of the Hummer driver but can't confirm this as a fact, he survived.

I have witnessed similar failure due to use of an eyelet instead of a properly rated tow hook resulting in the metal shackle ripping the eyelet like it was made of butter, then damaging the AC radiator and grill of the RAM being pulled .The RAM was being pulled by a Wrangler that was also a wrong vehicle due to the weight difference.

  8. You will need different grades of sand paper and go through some youtube videos out there e.g https://youtu.be/UG54xt56uZo

I believe Ace has some restoration material too: https://www.aceuae.com/en-AE/quixx-headlight-restoration-kit-lens-sealer-30-ml/1261179.html

I recently used Toyota’s own material that I had lying around for slight yellowing and it did a fair job. A proper job would definitely require abrasives and them some thing to bring back the transparency.

@Rahimdad bhais solution of toothpaste is of course the most economical and cheap. ( Also can be used to remove the tea/coffee/ karak chai stains if used on ones teeth 😂).
