  1. @ASAD. removing battery terminal is like formatting computer, it resets the ECU into learning mode again and zeroing all previous sensors' values. Car may run "rough" for a while as it relearns. This may work depending on car maker and codes. Error code like O2 sensors can only be cleared with a "Clear command" of scanner and not by resetting ECU (remove battery).
  2. @ASAD. try clearing the code with OBD2 scanner. If there's no issue with the car & clearing the code doesn't bring the code back, it's just a temporary glitch due to 4L to 2WD switching too fast (happened yesterday with a friend's Fortuner 4.0). If no OBD2 scanner available, come to the meeting point and we'll clear the CEL for you 😊
  3. @Simon Dawood your Pajero vid conquering Iftar Bowl 👇🏻 @Mario Cornejo looks bumpy while going up, and also down when riding the ridge... i know @GauravSoni did say take a better line, but maybe your shocks are tuned for highway (comfort / soft damper) instead of max firmness 😅
  4. well done bro @munkybizness . Well-deserved promotion and even more after your performance & support last night 👍🏻 Go further & higher 👏🏻
  5. Yeah with easy starting into the dunes, I noticed the 2 Nissans are like bodyguards guarding the 3 VIP Jeeps. And then just like in a warzone, it's the first car and the last car who "took the hits" for the team 😂😂😂 while the VIP Jeeps are happily smoking and chatting away 😅 The Fewbie Level Track finished at 11:30pm and Doc Marshal asked my opinion if we should switch track to a FB+ level. Seeing the 3 VIP Jeeps drove so well without any stuck, I had no objection going to FB+ (or mini Intermediate since this is Sweihan). The Team handled it well until we reach higher and higher and finally hit a pocket high up. Great teamwork up there, with everyone shovelling every possible side to make channel and try to give room for the wheels to sway front & back, rock-a-baby style and try to get out. Alas after some brainstorming, it was decided a traction board would help the rear tyre gain traction for getting out of the pocket. It was a good call, as the car managed to get out safely. Not many times in Carnity we get to use Traction Boards / Sand Ladders ☺️ Guess who was there last night with Traction Boards? (and yes to entertain @Srikumar it was those cheap traction boards from DragonMart, not the 1000dhs+ MaxTrax 😁) Great second lead by @Amr Aydin always listening closely to Doc Marshal when to stop and wait. Amazing skills for someone who just finished a MasterClass and first Fewbie Night Drive @Brett Eicher. Wonder if the teacher is that Marshal with a similar XJ Jeep Manual? 😀 @Haitham Khattab i feel is due for promotion soon. I noticed at times he picks alternative sand, a bit to the right, a bit to th left, cos they are just easier and flatter. Not bad for terrain-reading at night 👍🏻 Always happy to support Doc Marshal @Chaitanya D everytime he's in Sweihan 👍🏻 Till next time Team!
  6. the 2 earthquake tremors last night happened after my boat hit hard on the Sweihan dunes 😂 at Doc @Chaitanya D's Fewbie turned almost IM drive 😄
  7. Interesting dynamics here... the Pajeros @Mus_hus78 @Simon Dawood are behind the Patrols 😅 Good CenterForward for the recently promoted support @munkybizness and of course the 2nd most experienced @Ranjan Das as Sweeper closes the team tight. *lemme take off my rear mudflaps now 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
  8. Congrats @Gerrit Bus 👍🏻 see you next time in Sweihan 😊
  9. Duly-noted and I apologize... I'll bring extra tape for the fake Patrol bumpers, seeing these fake bumpers weren't as strong last time we were in Sweihan in your night drive 😄
  10. Confirm Doc @Chaitanya D 👍 Bro @munkybizness since you also signed up for Sri's IM drive, I recommend to go to garage only after Srikumar's IM drive, not before... it may lead to double-work 😅
  11. gonna put an Apple Air Tag on your Jeep during briefing, then launch the app Find My Marshal 😁
  12. Doc @Chaitanya D i've waitlisted myself for this drive, as I'm in Sri's 2nd Jul night drive already. If convoy is full, kindly consider extending the convoy size so I can show you my Y62 mods 😁
  13. Regardless of writing a script to register myself at exactly 7pm everytime @Srikumar's name is mentioned, I failed to register as #1... now I need to upgrade to 1000Mbps home Internet 😅 (not sure if anyone remembers IRC war back in the old days)...
  14. Well so much has been said for this trip and some have written good legit reviews here, but i'll add my 2cents anyways just to keep this thread at the top 🤣 Initially the words "Exploration" and "Intermediate" intrigued us, so much so that it lured me (and possibly another Abu Dhabian @Mus_hus78) to come out from my comfy summer hibernation 😅 When the venue changed to Faqa, i told myself "lucky i had front+rear bumper trimmed and front+rear steel skid plates installed!" I remembered Gaurav telling us something always happens in Faqa while we were entering the initial technical dunes. My second Faqa drive was with Angela where we... uhmm, surf 🏄‍♂️ & fly ✈️ on the dunes close to Abu Dhabi border ☺️ I prepared to support @Looper as he was center-forward in the original list, but when Hisham couldn't make it and Looper was moved to keep the mighty ducks in-line from behind, i had to be ready in case anyone needs support from middle-to-front. Alas it was already a good convoy! first one for refusal was @Mohamad Anwer's crested at high dune, but from my view it looked like a bit of shovelling and blip-blip to the right will invite gravity and pull his Lightweight LC70 down. Great self-recovery 👍🏻 Second one was @Tom B to be crested also, but again constant left-right-left-right rowing in the sand helped the V8 boat escaped downhill 👍🏻 Third was @Ranjan Das to be crested, but @Simon Dawood managed to tug him down. Fourth was @Shaaz Sha to be crested but Ranjan pulled him down in a blitz. So with no support needed from the middle, all I could do was take photos of these events 😂 (see the gallery) I do have a blame to share though: as a V8 LC owner driving a V6 Patrol (aptly called "DragonMart Patrol by @Srikumar) , I was sure the V8 LC200 behind me could handle any obstacle thrown at it. In hindsight, I should have talked and warned more on the radio, especially when making early exits down. No matter what, the @Tom B's LC200 was following my track... maybe my car was drifting sand at him, maybe he didn't see me exiting early down, maybe he didn't realize i made it to the ridge at 6000rpm, things happened so fast that i only realized something is amissed when i didn't see the V8 LC in my rearview mirror, and that dreadful radio call "LC stuck on a slope". When I looped down to see the car from the flat ground, that stuck position was really really tricky... i followed the 2 Winchers Looper & Ashok in case they needed additional support and to watch the recovery in close to learn from it. Overall it was a good fun drive. It extended well over 9am but that was because of the extra time needed to fix numerous stucks and pop-outs. @Mohamad Anwer hope speedy recovery for your wife and @Ashok chaturvedi hope your appointment was ok to reschedule. Good to see some friends and familiar faces too: @Ranjan Das: was in Liwa or Gaurav's Faqa drive last time @Mus_hus78: we need to restart our Abu Dhabi club again! @Looper: saw you in numerous drives already, but the one I remembered vividly is the unofficial drives 😅 @Matt.T: last time it was in Anish's Lisaili drive, great to see you transforming into a support role 👍🏻 @Anoop Nair: long time no see buddy! I still call your Jeep yellow although you corrected me many times it's not yellow 😂 @Ashok chaturvedi: good to have a fatherly figure in our convoy, now i know why i hear good things about you 😊 @Thomas Varghese: there's not a boring moment without you man, reminds me of the CB radio craze in the 80's 😂
  15. A little tug by Ranjan 2nd lead and we're back on track...
  16. Rear-view mirror of the start of a series of unfortunate events... well it's all part of the learning experience tho 🙏🏻
  17. Doesn't look that bad from this angle ☺️
  18. Crested but a little bit of shovelling helped this light cruiser to fall to the right and use gravity...
