  1. @Rizwanm2 congratulations with your new ride. Drive it in good health.
  2. Agreed that it is the car manufacturers' responsibility even way after the warranty period. Whilst I appreciate the FOC replacement under the recall campaign, I would appreciate a bit more proactive actions like publicizing or reaching out to car owners via telephone messages to tell them to schedule an appointment for the replacement regardless whether they service with the agency or not. For my case, I discovered it by chance when I showed up for a regular service. Upon further research, apparently, if the fuel pump is faulty, it may just cut fuel supply and the car will just stall. Will be a tricky situation in the desert, esp in the middle of some sort of maneuver.
  3. FJ Cruiser is having a fuel pump recall for 2014 FJ. Al Futtaim Toyota had replaced it for free last week although my car is out of warranty under the recall campaign. I did some research on the recall and below is what i found. The cars that might be applicable for Middle East from the list below would be Avalon, Corolla, Land Cruiser, Tundra and Camry. Worth checking if you or your friends have these vehicles. https://www.courtesytoyota.com/toyota-fuel-pump-recall.htm Toyota Vehicles impacted by this fuel pump recall 2017 & 2018 & 2019 Toyota Sienna 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser 2018 & 2019 Toyota Avalon 2018 & 2019 Toyota Sequoia 2018 & 2019 Toyota Corolla 2014 & 2015 & 2019 Toyota 4Runner 2014 & 2015 & 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser 2018 & 2019 Toyota Tundra 2018 & 2019 Toyota Tacoma 2018 & 2019 Toyota Highlander 2018 & 2019 Toyota Camry
  4. FJ has no flag. No radio communication from either party to check if the FJ had cleared/stuck this is scary and what a massive roll. Must be traumatizing. I hope the occupants are fine.
  5. I agree that skid plate as important as the walkie, flag pole and air compressor.
  6. Thanks for sharing. This is really cool. Maybe not camping but can be a nice drive with a smallish group.
  7. Welcome to Carnity! I am a fairly new member and I echo your sentiments.
  8. @Barry very valid points particularly the end users are not matured or responsible enough to handle the override function, in particular, cars of today are more powerful than those days before all these safety features come into existence.
  9. I can't imagine someone buying a car with safety features but choose to deactivate the airbags so that it will not deploy when it is needed most. But yeah, I see where you are coming from.
  10. I would assume that car manufacturers know that those who take the 4WD cars to the desert will need to switch off the airbags, ABS, traction controls etc. Why does it not come with a kill switch? I had install an after market kill switch. If there is a global safety regulations that it could not be a standard item then at least make this an option for buyers to choose. Manufacturers can also educate the users in the manual on how to operate it safely and that the manufacturers disclaim all sort of liabilities whatsoever. So far, I know FJ does not come with a kill switch, and based on what I read, Xterra, Pajero and Wrangler as well.
  11. I hope this is a good deterrent and there will be less accidents or reckless drivers
  12. I had to take a break from the weekly drives because the school term has started for my son and did not want my son to start the new school term feeling exhausted due to waking early or sleeping too late. Hopefully when the weather gets better, those evening drives can start earlier or morning drives to start later. Sorry! My preferred driving time is tuned to kids' sleeping schedule. 😅
  13. @Rizwanm2 @Nivin thanks for the websites. I used to pay for the car report from the links provided by Dubizzle.
  14. Congratulations @Shiju Manuel I still recall you as the 2nd lead when I did my first ever drive with Carnity.
  15. Today, at the Temple of Speed (Monza), I witnessed Pierre Gasly won the grand prix for the first time. It has been a long while since we see a new winner. None of the 'regulars' were on the podium today, which is refreshing.
  16. @Rizwanm2That was a close call 😅 How did you get the report?
  17. I had a bad experience where I dropped my walkie talkie and could not reach it during the drive. Since then, I always have the walkie around my neck. The cupholders of FJ is rather shallow for the walkie and may topple over during some 'manoeuvre'.
