I have a car fire extinguisher and totally not aware about the need to check on the expiry date. 

Where can I get the expiry 'renewed' by getting it refilled?

I'm not sure about other Emirates but for Dubai registered cars you need a safety triangle and a fire extinguisher. These do have an expiry date and must be refilled before expiry date. However the car extinguishers are quite small. I personally carry a 4KG fire extinguisher and 2 fire extinguisher balls which are with 5 year expiry date.

I am old school. I write down each and every drive that I have done, with the date, location and leader of the drive. 

@Niki Patel If you have kid(s) who are interested to venture into the dessert with you, bring them along. Lots of bonding time with the kid and provide a (very) convenient and cogent justification to the missus 😁

@Zedglad that you are ok and hopefully your 4x4 will be fixed soon. Thanks for sharing such educational video as a reminder and lesson learn, especially for beginners like me who are still learning the art of offroading.

Ahhh! I have been driving around and passing RTA tests with these lights. And this is the first time I get such remarks.

So I guessed it is ok to drive around without covering it unless the 0.001% of being stopped and summoned. 

I think the black masking tape is a good solution😁

From the sophistication perspective of the aesthetics and gadgets level, yes we are in the golden era. The designs today are really sophisticated and the gadgets are really cool. However,  I appreciate the simpler mechanical technology and cleaner line offered in the 80s and 90s. 

Petrol crisis notwithstanding, the German carmakers released a lot of nice cars in the 80s. The Japanese is not too far behind.

I would second and participate in such initiatives should it materialize. 

It would be good for the instructor to do the driving and a senior member to be a passenger to give a live commentary over the radio to relay information like throttle level, gearing, steering input, speed/momentum. This will help the participants watching to appreciate and understand it better.  

Whilst what we are doing is really good because we are doing the real stuff, driving on the sand and experience it first hand, a lesson or 2 on the real theory 'lecture' will be very beneficial.
