First time is FOC I hope 😜 … thanks for the support guys. to everyone else sorry I delayed the drive a little with my excellent driving skills, I blame it on the FJ’s key feature … poor visibility … and my new window tint … just kidding, it was my own fault I should have known better but we all make mistakes. still one happy customer despite ripping off my rear mud guard, denting my beautiful plastic bumper … and the car is shaking like a sh***ng dog … maybe an engine mount issue … I’m sure I’ll be back next weekend to do it all over again. Hey @Frederic sorry it’s late but I’m gonna have to pull out of this one. Just finished a drive with Davie and drove home. On the way home I noticed something out of the ordinary so I don’t want to risk it. Need to get it checked over before venturing out in the sand again. Hope you understand. @Ale Vallecchi thank you for putting on this afternoon drive. It was a great afternoon. @Emanuel thank you for the support and @Mike M. for bringing up the rear. I think learning how to get the best out of your car is going to be very helpful moving forward, check if your car has any issues preventing you from getting the most out of it. Driving in “D” may not be suitable for your car, you may need to use “manual” or “triptronic” gears or a combination of both throughout the drive especially in more testing areas. Ensure you have all traction aids turned off, especially if you turn off your car and start it again (for the newer cars). Ensure correct tyre pressures are met and if needs be lower them for more soft sand, just don’t turn too sharply. Carrying momentum and not trying to power through from a standing start is going to help, keeping fluidity in the drive is a must. For cars with turbos you may have to get on the accelerator earlier for your engine to spool up the turbo, yes engines have got better over the years but there is still a time lag between you putting your foot down and your car getting in the correct powerband. Larger engine displacements with turbos probably manage this better than smaller engines with turbos but it’s all the same. try, try and try again. Never be put off if you fail to do something that others can do. Never panic and listen to instructions. Never get frustrated and try too hard to push through something as that could lead to overshooting, fighting gravity etc. putting yourself and your car at risk. just some friendly advice 🙂 all the best guys, see you soon on the next one.

The drive was certainly different from the past couple of drives I’ve had in this area recently and it was nice to take a completely different route to the Iftar bowl & Super bowl. In all honesty the drive wasn’t as smooth as I had hoped but that’s the name of the game, you have to take the rough with the smooth. In all though it was a great morning and it was great to have a play around on the larger dunes flexing the FJ’s muscles 💪. Every drive brings something new, and new skills/techniques to take away. Learning how to handle your respective cars takes time. But once you’ve learned how to handle your car you will get the most of out of your drives. And probably come away with a larger smile on your face. to all, great drive, great patience and I hope to see you all in the sand very soon. All the best for the week ahead.

Myself, @Emanuel & @J-P L drove in this area today with Ale. Your suspension is going to get a great work out. There’s a lot of deep cross tracks in this area. But it’ll be fun all the same. Looking forward to it 👍🏻

My vote is the for @Frans M LC71. It’s beautiful, retro styling, tough, rugged and reliable. the 70 series has around in various forms since 1984 (if my thinking is right), still beloved today and sold pretty much as it was back then. Admittedly I’m a bit of a Toyota fan boy (first car, imported 1999 Corolla) who doesn’t really like modern technology. Two things on earth will survive a nuclear holocaust, cockroach’s and the 1GRFE engine 😂. A close second place would be @Frederic Isuzu Trooper. Great green machine.

Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for the great drive Friday afternoon. I haven't been to this part of Al Qudra before, seems silly considering it's not that far from the other well-known areas, but i must admit it was a fun place for an afternoon and eliminating the weeks stress. Everybody drove great, little bit of switching/criss-crossing, faster paced and technical dunes. looking forward to another drive here in the future. @Emanuel Thanks for your support during the drive and I hope you manage to get to the bottom of your issue soon. Hi All, slightly delayed response to last weekends drive. But I just want to say that it was tremendous fun. Difficult terrain, very technical, very soft and mannnn!! the dunes are high. But everyone drove great! … thanks @Frederic @Srikumar @Imran Asghar @DP1011 for your lead(s) and support throughout the drive! First time in LIWA and looking forward to returning in the future. And I can say with confidence that I climbed Moreeb dune, yeah it was the baby side but still I don’t need to tell anybody that 😉😂 apologies to all for my absence during the camp. I was fast asleep 😴 … not sleeping Friday night and driving all day Saturday completely took it out of me. Next time I’ll be more alive and kicking. all the best and I’ll see you all again on the next one 🤟🏻

@Ale Vallecchi pleasure as always driving with you, it was nice to explore a location I haven’t been before until now. Good mix of dunes suitable for all different levels, would be a good place to explore further. Thanks @Jeandre Bezuidenhout @Hani crest king @Marek for your second lead, sweep and support throughout the drive. The drive was challenging in some respects and patience was shown by everybody which was great. My key take aways from the drive. 1. Communication - keep the radio close, easy access in case of a situation (rerouting, refusal etc),listen to instructions and respond when required. 2. Momentum - momentum is key, knowing your vehicle and how it behaves will help you further understand how to drive it in the sand. Pure power gets you out of some situations but momentum is your friend and will lead to a smoother experience. (There are many people in the Carnity community who may have your vehicle, any questions or difficulties you’re dealing with, just ask and I’m sure somebody will have an answer for you). 3. Ridges - get on top of the ridge and ride the ridge for a few metres before switching to the over side of the dune. Hesitation leads to rerouting or refusals, crossing the ridge at the wrong angle could lead to a more serious situation. (keep in mind I’m not an expert and I’m still learning like everyone else, but talking about these points helps people to learn, understand and improve) regardless, it was still good to be out in the sand on a brisk chilly morning with a good group of people.
