    4T is really overkill for desert use as it's huge and super heavy. Good for home repairs or workshops.

    1.5 - 2.0 Ton jack is plenty because at any time you are lifting one tire and not the whole car (2.5 Ton car divided by 4 = 700 - 1000 kgs roughly on one tire).

    Buying a reliable and good quality one is the most important in my eyes. Jack stand are awesome for lengthy repairs and double protection in tricky places.

    was quite a good price though even though its heavy duty.
    now that ive removed my rear seats in the trusty pajero i think the extra couple of kg weight of the heavy duty jack should be fine.

    Whatever you buy - get a good quality product. I had bought one from Amazon and it lasted for 5-6 lifts. Now it lies in some dumpster. I have since bought a Yato 2 ton jack from Speedex which comes in a plastic box and it is also as large as other 2.5 ton jack. it’s still in the plastic box with un-torne original wrapping. Let’s see how long it lasts like that.

    Prime day arrived. I got a big 4T floor Jack and a couple of 3T stands with flat bases as a backup for when pushing those tyres back on.

    Thanks for the tips. 👍👍

    Yes @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke Very much, as long as you see a spot, and convoy order is not closed, U can join the drive! The RSVP mechanism is smart to restrict you, by adding you to WL if u r on your second drive for the week, however, if the drive is not getting full, then WL members gets automatically confirmed depending on their WL number, givimg priority to those who have lesser drives compared to those WL with higher drives for thT week:) ( So you can always add yourself before cutoff time and keep yourself under WL)

    In short you are IN for this drive ;) as the RSVP dint put you on WL😁😎

    thx @DP1011..
    gonna use it as 'training' drive for my youngest again.. zofia gotta get her rank up as a passanger 😁

    @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke Luke, Thought I get your attention to this, whilst I found the jack we used today very handy, and compact, BUT I and @Looper both found it not very stable compared to floor jack, so u need to be Extra careful if at all u continue to use it, but making sure stable and hard flat surfacw with wooden board...perhaps, as its not  best to use bottle jack:)

    Thanks @DP1011
    yeah did see the jack move a little yesterday when trying to pop that tyre back on, would not have take much to give it a push over. Looks like i'll have to get a tall floor jack from amazon ......

    Dear Desertnauts

    here the last minute tips about this afternoon's Eid outing.

    The meeting point will be just past the entrance to the barracks of the Royal Guards, at the end of the tarmac leading left from E14 (Al Faqa Road) into what looks like a construction area. There will be no shade, so please deflate as quickly as you arrive.

    The drive plan we'll take us just beyond the first sets of dunes into fields of long-range dunes dotted with clay formations, moving first in a North-West direction, then around toward East, and all along E14, all the way to Faqa, through a mixed terrain of mostly long range dunes, with a couple of sabkhas and technical areas.

    The convoy order at the moment entails a "tutoring" scheme, with higher ranked drivers leading each a lower rank driver, so that the latter may be inspired by the former's lines and driving techniques:

    @george charbel will be in Second Lead

    @DP1011 will be at #3

    @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke at #4

    @Benjamin at #5

    @Tom V at #6

    @Chris Wing at #7

    @Marketa Dobesova at #8

    @Joseph Raju at #9

    @Pavel Pashkovskiy at #9, and

    @Looper will start in Sweep (you will trade spots with Deepak half way through the drive).

    We'll use Carnity Radio Channel #2 (446.031).

    See at 3:00 PM on the hot sand. Have a nice morning.

    great see you this afternoon!

    Yeh I agree, I want to delete the rubbish looking plastic as well, makes it easier to get to the wheel and you can mount fuel containers as well.

    There are people who make the delete panels and the mount for the licence plate, just haven’t found where in Dubai yet. If you do can you let me know?

    After strapping the spare in the back for a month I got an angle grinder and just chopped up the spare mount so the new rim fits.

    Couldn't find a plastic delete place that didn't look terrible as the end result over here in Abu Dhabi.

    Can't tell from the outside how I butchered that poor mount 😅😅
