  1. Thanks @amid we have other members do the same..... @Barry who is doing that for living and still giving free advises and helping others.
  2. Danny Do you think lighthouse expect thanks from drifted boats? Just pay it forward (in advance) and someday some stranger would pay it back to you. that is what I like to think "how it works"
  3. Hi Danny I'm not sure if it's a CVT or conventional automatic gearbox as it's unrevealed yet! but the good news is if it's conventional it's Aisin the same gearbox used in Lexus 470 LS AWD (US & Euro specs only) and if its CVT it's Jatco which is the same one used in Nissan skyline GTR It cant be ZF as it comes rear wheel drive only! CVT is bad for old drivers who had a manual gearbox experience but for new drivers considered from haven. for me myself I don't like CVT transmission!
  4. Good luck but you need to consider the following: - Do not go for any kind of modification to avoid warranty violations. - You should be ready to 100% increase in your fuel budget as Pajero consume more than any other V6 SUV and double of any 4 door saloons. -3.5 L V6 or 3.8 L V6 are common and easy to maintain except for spark plugs change since intake manifold have to be removed. - any suspension left would effect rear control arms pushes and differential gears mounts in short time. My advice if you can check the new Pajero Sport (Montiro or Nativa) with lower engine displacement (I think GDI Gasoline direct injection) and higher torque and the new 8 speed transmission (I think CVT the same technology used in mighty Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge) and seven seats and more aggressive look and better drag ratio it would be better and economy and I think the new car price is lower than Pajero and new shape also. I think we have an earlier review http://www.habtoormotors.com/Mitsubishi/Discover.aspx?CarId=45#.V776tjVerIU
  5. that is a common problem in Ford Focus MK2 but it splits during shifting so you get no indication on the dashboard and the car would not start as it dose not recognizer P or N gear shift positions!
  6. Happy for you Just work safely and avoid heat and sun!
  7. would you share with us for which car and which year model?
  8. With the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car!!! LOL
  9. I'm Sorry but can anyone accept that he may loss his car (minimum loss comparing to human being life or body origins) for a computer or system glitch or error!...... for me I can't .....just my brain does not accept it! part of the fun is to drive for the destination and choosing the roads and changing it to avoid jams or to use a high way with longer distance and shorter trip time and supporting system and protection system enhance that fun of driving. I was shocked when I used auto-Park in my VW 6 years a go and shocked again with the Mitsubishi driver-less electric car in Masdar city in Abu Dhabi but I'm not ready to use one of these daily! Maybe after retirement I would change my mind!
  10. Sorry @taqir I was miss-leaded by your first comment (listed points) if you meant "UAE life general discussion and questions" I think we all need the advises in every subject.
  11. Developing the search tool in used car listing would better use. even I wanted to request admin to offer android and I phone application for the site but I don't want to request them any extra cost as the site considered new comparing to European and American sites.
  12. Piston heads or petrol heads as many car lovers call themselves are different from other items collectors or technology followers or deals hunters.... mixing these individuals with different prospective and emotional motives would make it a cause... I'll make it simple: among of use we have trades but we don't have conflicts and many of us may would like to gain some profit from that car passion (including me myself) but if we didn't we consider it as cost of fun time we spend using these cars. Think about cause we would have for some one selling stolen or replica phones and I'm sure about the bad reputation that the site would gain from irresponsible acts by visitors or profit driven members. I'm thinking and acting as a partner not just a member and I wish you all do the same as I consider it a community (even virtually).
  13. As the admin would proceed with his prospective for business listing and used items for sale (instead of used cars) eventually it would be compared with Souq and even Dubizzle....!!
  14. I'll try to make easy... (but it isn't!) look for longitude engine (so it's basically rear wheel drive and better engine balance and weight distribution) and mostly chassis with drive train can be separated from body. and all wheel drive all time which means no transfer case but a middle (3rd) differential gear to distribute torque on wheels on demand. or select-able all wheel drive try to chose a car with lever not a button to select drive mode these are the main line it would take you from 20,000 Suzuki jmny and daihatsu terios up to Toyota Prado and Fortuner and Jeep and Nissan Pathfinder and Extra which is the only one would give you the same rigid construction and some shape lines from LR3 (cube look or boxy look) and drives nice on high way and stable on high speed.
  15. Sorry I don't think so! what is the unique about Carnity from other social media like Facebook? If the admin approved it and continue withe same prospective like business listing and others what the unique about Carnity from Souq.com? Unless it's a plan to reach these stages?
  16. Hi Robert would you share with us your requirements? how many door & seat you need? is the brand or the luxury a major issue for you? do you plan any modification for off road use? and about engine ... dose size matters for you... number of cylinders and displacement? and Majorly budget. land rover didn't design it they are sharing it with BMW and in cold weather it's running perfect and it's all most the same design used for most of electronically controlled all wheel drive like Ford explorer & expedition and Chevrolet trail blazer and taho and nissan patrol and Toyota land cruiser but the type of belts and actuators varies.
  17. Hi Robert driving on sand (one level road +/- 2 meter up and down) will not over heat the transfer case (reasonable driving old people driving average speed of 60 to 80 km/h) for for 3 hours in winter, but summer time 1 hour is more than transfer case can handle when it over heat the actuator motor jams and the steel chain belt stretch and you start to receive audio and light warnings and it would effect other working systems like engine and transmission as it may not responds to accelerator pedal and ABS as wheels are not rotating by power train as planed (designed calculation) and finally suspension as a part of dynamic traction control related and connected to ABS & power train......So you may start to feel like crashing Boeing 747 and you wonder what I did to face all that kind of troubles (You did not do any thing bad or over specs!!) it's just was not designed for this weather! as I mentioned before for daily paved roads it's nice ride and Jaguar engine if you take care of it with good service and reasonable use and you need to push it to limits from time to time (every 2 months once) to avoid carbon slugs inside other than that spare parts are the same for Rang Rover sport for both engine and suspension except for drive belt as sport mostly super charged while LR3 is rarely available with super charger and I like the shape more than standard range rover and sport and I like the 3 line seat availability and the roof windows! to have a closer look check these image for the transfer case:
  18. For mud or gravel or wet roads it's ok (very nice ride) But for sand for long time driving the transfer case (the same one in BMW X5) will over heat and the belt stretch and require replacing the transfer case and some times the actuator motor (including the controller) and requires alignment (adaptation) and air suspension is costly to repair and if it fail on the sand you need a truck to pull you out!
  19. Before 20 years ago I used to work for oil company and they have rule for inspection every time you drive out from the camp which that every car leaving the camp must have a box of fresh Cucumber vegetable (that was in the middle of nineties) we used to say jokes about it but as the camp doctor said that it retain water for long time and remain cooler than water in any tank and would not evaporate and finally it can not be spoiled or leaked in handling I think it's a sort of military standard!
  20. Actually I was looking for BMW E21 or Alfa Romeo Sprint but the cost was over my budget (tow or three times!!) I think it speaks for me on that age (single graduated like wild mustang horse)LOL.
  21. Ethan .... Ethan .... Ethan is after the big Fish.....!!! LOL it comes by municipality and RTA together so in paid parking a fine after paid parking hours then a notice will be stacked on the glass after 1 week then it will be taken by police recovery truck and it will be charged during the 3 months if no one claimed it (owner or mortgaged bank) it will be sold on the auction. please note that the mortgaged cars will be sold as well on the auction if the bank did not claim it however some times it's sold as a lot on a list which can not be registered to avoid conflicts between police and banks as it was sold by traffic court order. the other story for non paid parking that as long as the car is clean or undamaged they don't touch it or issue fine if else they take it if no number plates they take it. in Sharjah it's totally different story! Happy Hunting Ethan....! enjoy jumping over sand dunes..!!
  22. Unless it was retrieved by owner form the yard with in 3 months it will be listed in public auction and sold to the higher price any resident with valid UAE ID or GCC can register for biding after paying the deposit. remember all items are AS IT IS and inspection is available before the auction with one week and all specs dose not apply as most of the items are as it is (keys not available) so you can't start engines or check running condition or transmission or AC so mostly the main biders are traders and workshops and scrap yards and they mostly after fast running models other than that prices are so low. Happy Hunting.....!!!!
  23. My first car was 1980 Fiat 127Top golden color 3 door coupe hatchback with engine displacement 1.05 L (1050 CC it's not a type error!!) it was 75 Hp with Dual throttle Weber carburetor with total weight of 900 Kg loader and no options (no AC or power windows or center looks or even power steering) Just a pure mechanical engineering..... So it was light weight economy and fast (the acceleration was 0 to 100 Km in 10.5 Sec.) comparing to the next nineties and later generations and up to 2016 many new cars still have the same acceleration.
  24. can you share with us which car you have and what you like to upgrade or install it would be nice if you can add some photos and you may get recommendations where to find it.
