  1. Dear All the discussion reminds me with the juok when the wife came home and told her husband: I have a good new and a bad news, So the husband said: don't tell any bad news just the good news! so she said: Our new BMW car air bags are working efficiently!! The sticker on the newspaper is matching US sticker on the new cars which is good news and a step forward to customer protection from dealers greed and towards lunching new laws similar to US lemon juice. however applying tax on fuel efficiency and emission is a very scary thing for motor heads like us and I think it may be applicable specially after the new budget announcement which is lowering government income from Oil to 6% only and stress on earning more income from services and charges but the idea is against the country main banner "Tax Free" anyway I'm not an expert in politics but that what I understand about it!! the other issue that many cars on the market is offering better fuel saving ..... for example I have been driving a rent car (Nissan Sentra) for the last 2 weeks and it's even offering 15.4 to 16 Km per liter which is very good ....(regardless performance and the poor quality ride) So from now on I'll end my comment with Drive economically instead of Drive safely!!!!
  2. Hi Abeer I totally agree with Hanif just wanted to add that your problem could be the stabilizer connection rods or stabilizer cups as your car is 2011 so check as it may be still covered under warranty (5 years unlimited mileage) and can be repaired free of charge with free loaner car to use during repair period. If your car 6 cylinder please check your (7 speed) transmission performance carefully and if you have any complain about it or notice you may include it in your warranty claim (8 cylinder quattro is different thing) just don't show mercy to the dealer if the car still under the warranty (as I think you are a lady from the name) and demonstrate how Eve can be Evil!! Good Luck
  3. Other ways would switch off ABS!! just check for the switch but I'm not sure if it's available for all grades.
  4. Hi Aamil I do agree with Gautam but I would like to add one thing. - mostly your car problem is not in the clutch plate I think it's on the pedal witch is mostly works in oil pressure that the cylinder failed and require replacement so its not going back to end and leave the plate touching the flywheel to over heat and wear. some times you can find overall kit (after market) but it doesn't last for long time so replace with new and check the lower cylinder that push the plate as it doesn't have a spring to pull it back and replace the oil with the same grade (DOT3 or DOT4). it's nice to have a manual car enjoy it! Good Luck!
  5. Hi Edie All most all of drifting cars are rear wheel drive so in cornering the centrifugal force due to the high torque force the car to spin in a circle and to avoid that steering to other direction would prevent that. before 8 years I had a BMW E36 325i American Specs (it comes with GM 4L40 automatic transmission used in Chevrolet Lumina and Cadillac with 4 speed and 2 valve bodies!) and it was very easy to over steer it or under steer it in every corner since it was not equipped with traction control even in low speed as I experienced in U turns!! while drifting in all wheel drive is a harder job to do and required a higher driving skill and training. drifting is a dangerous to do and forbidden in public road use while knowing it would save lives to use it in emergency like driving in wet roads and sandy roads to avoid other drivers mistakes or road surprises. Drive safely !!
  6. Hi Stelita It seems that you are not engaging 4WD-LOW so what happens? the ABS works partially to hold (stop) 1 or 2 or even 3 wheels that slipping to hold them to redirect the tuque to the other wheels with better grip since your not engaging the 4WD-LOW you don't engage the diff-Lock so the 4 wheels are running freely! As long as you are driving in low speed (less than 40) you still able to engage 4WD-Low to solve this issue to be on the safe side please refer to your car instruction manual or download it as it vary from brand to other some brands with electrical control recommend to shift gear to N to enable switching the drive mod. Enjoy it!!
  7. Hi Agustin I agree with Wildcat educated guessing but I want to add that you car problem could be in the following: - engine air flow sensor as its related to engine torque that measured and informed to ABS for air flow sensor via can-bus (mostly the knocking and clicking sound can be caused from throttle self calibration or inner air flaps inside the intake manifold calibration to compensate the reading difference from the air flow sensor) - Transmission internal speed sensor reading (impossible reading or not matching wheel speed sensor connected to ABS) - finally if you experience sudden power loss of accelerator pedal in roundabout during night driving so I'll be sure that you swapped your headlights to newer model (equipped with adaptive driving light not matching your year model which equipped with cornering light) which mean your problem can be solved by installing your old headlights or reprogramming the car central body control ZKE to switch off cornering light system! and it can be done by "Autologic" diagnostic system. Good Luck!
  8. Hi Husain He just need to push that switch (usually VSC no logo on the driver left hand reach near fuel cap release switch) and check the indicator light on the dashboard I drove it before but it did not have a diff-lock switch it just have a short shift knob beside the gear knob for 2WD, 4WD-Hi & 4WD-Low(with diff-Lock) enjoy gliding and drive safely!
  9. Hello Iamaar You have to check it by a diagnostic system and note the following: - red light on dash means that air bag failure as mentioned above. - yellow or orange light means that you have a seat sensor failure or seat belt sensor or igniter failure which usually happens after interior cleaning and detailing due to seat removal and installation and some time after replacing or disconnecting battery. Good Luck
  10. Hello Aiden it's a nice car and unique one Allroad had 2 engines 2.7 turbo charged and 4.2 naturally aspired for both you have to check the following: - if it's over heating and fans on low speed and radiator still cold (can be touched by hand) so you have a thermostat problem - if over heating and fans on high speed and radiator is hot and coolant level is coming lower you need to check coolant cap (the blue cap with red warning triangle on it) -if over heating and fans on high speed and radiator is hot and coolant level is ok but you notice that cooling pipes are hard and indicating high pressure (put something in your hand to protect from heat and squeeze it) that indicate a head gasket failure. - Engine fan clutch failure can cause over heating after slowing down from high speed (over 140 Km/H) - if it's not over heating while running AC so the fan speed relay have a problem - Try to run a diagnostic to check fan speed controller and fans. Good Luck
  11. Hi Danny Yes that what they have been doing for more than 10 years check this link it would show the pump and connections and diagram https://www.google.ae/search?q=vw+auxiliary+air+pump&biw=1366&bih=659&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIjI3iqqTUyAIVBjo-Ch0MmQuv and it can be bypassed since system have valves! but still better fuel economy than Japanese and American cars!
  12. Hi The device in every VW car since 1996 or 1997 1.6 litter and up which is simply an air blower sucking air from intake filter and blow it to exhaust system and working on demand according to CO sensor on the catalytic and most of mechanics thinks it's for worming up the engine since the reading comes higher after starting cold engine and the ECU detects the CO and run the blower. don't worry about your car just keep servicing on time and keep fuel level above quarter.
  13. in addition to Gaurav reply replace pairs (don't replace one piece only) and usually it's the tailgate air sprigs (the long one) the third one is the threaded connected to the motor to left up for opening or to pull down for closing.
  14. You need to check lights on dashboard if you have a key light that may indicate for Immobilize which would block engine from starting! if not that would mean that you have fuel pump failure either need to be replaced or relay need to be changed but mostly the pump failure is more common due to driving with low fuel level since the pump is cooled by fuel.
  15. City is based on old platform Civic (1999 with the flat floor) and NEVER have been manufactured in Japan like Jaz or Fit and have the same engine used for Civic in some parts of the world (1.5-1.6) but using CVT transmission which make much more smother and quieter than civic and for sure more economic my personal test drive for City and civic gave me imprison that city is better handling and softer suspension and more rigid than civic however civic was more sporty with better stability even with city equipped with ABS & VSC as standard for all trims while civic didn't!!
  16. All True !!!!! I had the most ugly experience with Ali&Sons in Abou Dhabi when my DSG 7 speed gearbox fail and they needed 18 day to import from Germany and replace it ..... It was Ramadan (18 days fasting Ramada without car and using Dubai metro from Etisalat to Jebel Ali daily 110 min each trip = 220 min daily 3 hours 40 min !!!) and when asked for the replacement car as my car was under warranty they asked for 2000 aed deposit (for traffic violations) while they just charged me 2000 aed 10 days earlier for major service and software update which broke down the gearbox mechatronics I did shout it out loudly in the service center "it's not Volkswagen it's VolksF...u...k..n wagen" the issue that I have been using VW for the last 18 years and I know the quality in design and material and how reliable it is but the dealers policy in hiring lower budget staff with low experience destroying everything!!
  17. Hi VW Touareg have a fuel ventilation that release the gas pressure from the tank and parking the car on the sun or non shaded parking would warm up fuel and venting the gas! the issue that the nearest points for gas to come inside is under the rear seat where is the fuel pump installed and the refiling cap at the luggage compartment so check smell at both locations before moving or starting the AC or opening windows and advice your service adviser with your complaint and you research for the gas smell to save time. maybe during replacing fuel pump they didn't put the gaskets properly or maybe the refiling pipe cracked and requires replacement. Please note that you just have a gas vapor leak so be careful about it.
  18. Hi I Think your car in dark color like black and dark blue and tinting would not reflect much heat as much as dark color body absorbs! changing compressor would impact your manufacturer warranty! (so forget it) if you have a sunroof tilt it pop it up or roll down windows 1 cm while you park the car and that would release the hot air out side and cover your leather seats (specially black & grey) with joy-textile covers from accessory shops (chose light colors to reflect heat) and always put the sun shade on the windshield to avoid heating the dashboard and steering wheel and be sure to open all windows every time you start the car and close the cycle on the AC
  19. Hi As a career beginner I recommend to go for small size SUV or what we call crossover with low budgets that have a good resell value when you make your next step to upgrade so check out: Mitsubishi ASX, Hyundai Tucson, Kia sportage, Renault Duster, Ford Ecosport, Kia Soul, Nissan Juke, Mazda CX3, Daihatsu Terios, Peugeot 2008,Suzuki Vetara 2door & Gemini I didn't include expensive brand and recommend you to avoid some words like "DSG,DCT or any thing related to dual clutch transmissions and Turbo for any engine and avoid all Chinese brands) and please note that excluding these words would mean less fun and less price but much more reliability and better resell value and more customers for second hand car specially with low mileage and lady driven and for sure lower service expenses the above range would offer 4 cylinder engines 1.5:2.0 liter which would give a reasonable fuel economy and smooth driving with air condition on just try to have it first grade (fully loaded) to treat your self and to have the advantage during selling and get the automatic transmission and stick with light colors (white, silver, Gold, sky blue, light grey, pistachio green, red and avoid dark colors like black and dark blue&grey) Good Luck
  20. Hi Usually I check the website and study it (for several brands not only one brand) and going to dealers with specific questions on my mind and sometimes insisting on a test drive after all I'm going to pay for it (cash or bank finance..eventually I'm going to pay for it) so if I did not get the thing that I'm looking for I'm not going to buy it. and look carefully for complaints and regular problems The sales person is just promoting the car and the brand and most of them don't have any idea about technical specs (they know horse power and number of speeds) but if you ask about technicalities they have no clue so if you ask how many valve or cams or wheel size or cost of service or maximum towing weight or gearbox type they would check the catalogs! Maybe the lady had unsecured feeling about you (they can smell your testosterone regardless beauty LOL) take it easy it happens everyday and everywhere in every industry not only in car dealers you can book a flight and later when you need to change date they ask for extra money or it's nonrefundable.
  21. Hi Ethan go ahead don't worry from the extra 5 AMPs it's even better in case you upgrade to xenon lights or audio amplifier ...... just be sure of the type left/right and dimensions not higher so it would touch car body and short and burn the car and not wider or longer so it would bend wires or push fuse box and cut wires or wires insulation. Good Luck
  22. I think we still have a chance to grow our fuels like many other countries .... Yes BioFuel like E85 & E60 which is 85% and 60% Ethanol respectively and the remain percentage is unleaded gasoline. These biofuels are higher in octane and lower CO emission. and after all the early automotive industry was using Alcohol as fuel and was diverted to petrol later. And many countries are growing fuel crops with sea water and sewerage water which maximize the benefits of recycling that waste water into fuel. and most of manufacturers modified produced cars to run with biofuel and badged "flex fuel or bio" even conversion kits available and suitable lubricants also available.
  23. what about: - flags - Initials for countries - Roses on front bumper - Chains all over front and rear bumpers (trucks only) - Fuel caps shiny covers. - LED beneath the car - Roof warping in black - Aftermarket tail spoilers. - Laser logo projectors.
  24. Hello Mostly you have a problem related to fuel pump or pump relay and fuel filter please be sure to check these 3 parts other than that would not affect starting in this weather. Good Luck!
  25. I can't tell it's my first time!! but I think outdoor lap is longer than indoor and I think evaluating distance and speed would be much better outdoor than indoor so I guess outdoor for first time would be better experience for me.
