2008 Ford Five Hundred review

Recommended Posts

The Five Hundred is the newest full-size sedan to be added in the regional Ford line-up and is the company’s interpretation of the modern American sedan.

Unlike most of its European cousins that boast Ford’s new ‘kinetic’ design philosophy in their styling, this model follows the path of proven emotional appeal of the American designed and produced Ford Fusion.

Ford Five Hundred (note that the name is written in words and is not numerically addressed) features the brand’s signature three-bar chrome grille, a sculpted bonnet with crisp accent lines and a new front fascia chamfered at the outer edges, adding more structure to the design.

Ford Five Hundred is offered in SEL and Limited trims. Big and roomy inside, the car features a tall roof that offers lots of headroom. The driver sits relatively high, gaining a commanding view of the road. The car’s 8-way powered driver seat comes with memory settings. Its rear seats are comfortable, roomy, and fold down to increase cargo capacity.

The car’s cabin is a nice mix of leather and wood with generous equipment levels. In terms of interior space, the Ford Five Hundred ranks high on spaciousness scale. With the front-passenger seat folded down, up to nine feet long goods/packages can fit in the car.

Irrespective of the trim levels, only one power train set-up is offered which is a 263hp 3.5-litre V6 engine mated to the six-speed automatic transmission as

found in the new Ford Edge. This large car comes with Ford’s all-wheel-drive system. With a plush suspension system that is so typical of American cars, a

comfortable ride is assured with no compromises on the handling.

Large disc brakes come with anti-lock brake system (ABS). With standard air bags and available electronic stability control, the 2008 Ford Five Hundred compares is in sync with its competitors.

The Five Hundred is not just a traditional sedan; it’s also a traditional Ford. In many ways, its like old wine in an old bottle.
