Pajero 4LLC doesn’t seem to be working

Recommended Posts

We think I have a solenoid issue with my 2011 3.5l V6 pajero. 4LLC doesn’t seem to be working, had the gear cleaned last week but didn’t fix the issue and it’s not engaging. Can anyone recommend a good transmission guy in Musaffah? I don’t feel I want to give it to my usual guy for this work. The whole thing just felt a bit under powered in general on the last drive, couldn’t get it beyond 2000rpm in HLC on a refusal in soft sand even with foot to the floor, but it was also over heating at the time.

That’s a list of issues. Sounds like your usual guy wasn’t really up to the job I’m afraid.

Hi Anna, can I offer a bit of personal experience? I had one issue with over heating and solved it by using manual shift exclusively. I have driven right through the summer now with the issue never returning (stock system, no auxilliary fan added).

Regarding transmission, I think your Pajero might be throttle by wire, if so, check your traction control is definitely defeated (fuse or Chronos switch or whatever you use) as once I was on soft sand and the car would NOT rev at all, the t/c was cutting the power and trying to defeat wheelspin.

As for the 4HLC shift, if you are following the recommended procedure provided on your sun-visor card and it is not engaging (light on dash status indicator continues to flash) it may be that the solenoid is faulty which is a very common Paj fault (but good news, it is very cheap to fix) Many garages advertise this check and fix on the Facebook Pajero club page. Good luck and let us know how you get on!
