Jose Luis Campos
Hello, I RSVP this drive, but I don't have (yet) a recovery rope nor the shackels. Do I need to buy it for this trip or can I buy it later? Looking forward to see you all next Saturday. But then I saw the Mandatory Off-Road Gears that are written in the Drive Details above. Probably is a mistake and copied from previous higher level drives. Thank you anyway. See you Saturday.

ALEX 0171
Good evening @Davie Chase Thanks for organising this drive! - I drive a 2024 JEEP JL 392 (4dr, Grey, 4.5” lift kit, winch and a few extras) - Front and rear tow hooks, 4WD, flag and whip. - Done 15-20 drives in the past 6mth, mostly daytime/mornings, Al Qudra & Sweihan. - Done the reading and will watch the video tonight. - Have radio and can program to frequency. Please advise which of the 10 frequencies will be used on the day as dinosaur me don’t know how to program presets on this thing looking very much forward to it! This may sound blunt, but for your safety, either lower your lift to a maximum of 2 inches or drive extra carefully on dunes with such a high center of gravity, where even slight negligence can turn very expensive, very quickly. Good to read that you have done 15-20 drives, which means you are already used to such high COG. For newbie level pace and size of dunes, you should be fine, but if you wish to scale up, you should reconsider that lift size. 2 Let's root for each other & watch each other grow. Yeah I was apprehensive initially and was looking more into 2.5-3.5" lifts myself. What I didn't realise is that the stock spec for the 392 already comes with +2" lift, so really when they quote aftermarket 4.5" expect a 2.5" increase to stock. At any rate, and after a lot of advise I did the 4.5" in the end and with hindsight I'm glad I went for it. I've seen a lot of other jeeps with even 3" lifts or below struggle considerably when cresting. A bit of compromise on road driving for sure, but the only time I drive her on the highway is when I head to the desert and back 😇 Anyway, dropping back to smaller lift is neither blunt nor trivial... it's a 40k bill to fork, so suffice to say 4.5" will have to do for now! 😁 I've driven pretty much most of the areas in Al Qudra by now (Intermediate level) and some of the medium stuff in Sweihan so far with no issues, so fingers crossed 🤞 6 hours ago, Davie Chase said: @ALEX 0171 we will probably use ch4 I have placed the radio programming instructions in the drive post please try to program your radio prior to the drive as you never know when we may need to change channels during the drive thanks Thanks @Davie Chase, I will have a look and try to preset them. Worse case I will print a cheat-sheet table of the 10 frequencies and bring with me 😅 Edited October 3, 2024 by ALEX 0171
