Jeep Oil Change (5k Mopar Oil Costs)

Recommended Posts

Hello. I had a question and would appreciate any replies from the senior members. I understand part of this topic has been beaten to death in a different forums but I am curious what Jeep Owners do.

I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4 Dr (under warranty). Post service today, dealer advised me to change the oil every 5k if I am using her on sand every week which I have been doing ever since I joined Carnity.

I thought an oil change would be 350-500 bucks but they said it’s AED 1,000 so, over a year, that would be like AED 4k just for oil and filter.

Since they use 0W-20 which, I guess is not that preferred for hotter areas, to prevent damage I would want to change it at the recommended intervals i.e., 5k kms.

Also, I assume, I shouldn't change the brand of oil for warranty reasons in between the 10k service.

So can I ask what other Jeep owner under warranty do? Do you shell out 1k to jeep or do you buy MOPAR online and get it changed outside at the 5k mark. Thanks in advance.

I will leave the math for other users.

This is real, as every 4x4 has a service interval slashed by half for adverse conditions (Sand + extra load). So stick to 5K oil change for sure for better engine life.

Let's root for each other & watch each other grow.

Thanks @Gaurav. Actually it was your post regarding oil change + oil type for your Pajero from an earlier thread on Carnity that got me thinking of this since, being an ex marine engineer where we used half synthetic oil for several machineries, I assumed that a fully synthetic oil was enough to last 10k kms.

But point well noted again!!

Just that in my opinion (and maybe I am wrong), the costs are maybe 2x of what they should be.
