2011 Peugeot RCZ review

Recommended Posts

The RCZ is all-new from Peugeot – so new, in fact, that it wasn’t even available in the region at the time of writing. Rest assured, we’ll update the page when more info becomes available.

It represents a new step for Peugeot into the small sports car market that’s dominated by the likes of the Audi TT. And there’s more than a hint of the TT to the RCZ’s design, although it retains the Peugeot family face.

The RCZ is a 2+2 Coupe, meaning that although in theory it can sit four, the rear seats are more of an afterthought – a family car, this ain’t. It is stylish though, with an unusual ‘double bubble’ roof design that flows down into the rear window. We dread to think what it would cost to replace the rear glass if it breaks. 18-inch wheels come as standard, with 19-inch versions available as an option.

The interior boasts a JBL sound system and a USB slot for iPod connectivity. The RCZ’s sporting ambition is rammed home with extensive chrome and aluminium inserts around the cabin and pressed metal instrument gauges. Peugeot has always had a reputation for comfortable seats, and it has promised to move the game on further with the RCZ. A fine quality Nappa leather upholstery is available.

Power comes from a choice of two 1.6-litre turbocharged engines in different states of tune. One has a 200bhp and comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the other has six automatic gears and puts out 156bhp. Prices and further details have yet to be confirmed.
